Simply aviation THANK YOU for finally making another Icelandair trip report!!! As a huge Icelandair fan, I'm glad to see you guys putting out quality content of Iceland's flag carrier! 🇮🇸♥️
Iceland Air is the ONLY airline that I’ll ever fly, whenever I go to the Netherlands to visit family.
@@mayfleur36 they either lost or stole my Favorite bands gear. ATW just got back from their tour and either Iceland air stole or lost all their gear. They have made no attempt to make it right. ATW is no slouch.. they tour their asses of and this is now way to treat people in general let alone expensive band gear. I am very very unhappy with Iceland air. They need to make it right other wise all your compliments are overshadowed by this fact of their business practice.
I am a fan of Icelandair
Fun ride my first ride in a plane is iclandair
@@tylermoulton7294 icelandair (and no airline) runs their baggage handling on their own. They buy it from the airport and maybe put promotional labels on things.
Love these Brutally Honest economy flights. Keep it up!
I have been watching this channel for years now, and it keeps getting better and better. Keep up the good work!!!
Hoping to see more of these! Love the trip reports but these are just way more informative
Great new introduction graphics. Best airline reviewers by far. Many thanks.
Love the "Brutally Honest" reviews. Thank you for sharing your experience. Great vid.
Love simply aviation first aviation channel I ever watched thx for the brutally honest thx
I travelled icelandairs 757 and 737 max from UK to minnesota and they were easily one of the best airlines I have flown on, I actually preferred it more than British airways
Watching this as my Qatar Airways flight from Doha to Manila is taxiing to its gate. Great video as always man!
Have a safe flight
Hope ur in the airport by now
@@anthonysng63 Thanks!
Are you there to get milked?
Love the trip thanks for sharing
Thanks for the trip report, David!
13:55 - In the future, I think airlines will continue flying widebodies (A330neo, 787) transatlantic but only during dense times (overnight eastbound, overday westbound). During less dense times, airlines will start flying narrowbodies (A321LR/XLR, 737 MAX). We can already see this w/ some airlines, such as TAP, Aer Lingus, SAS, and of course, Icelandair.
Always love me a good brutally honest video 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
Best video ever David! I'm so proud of you, I hope you hit 600.000 Subs :D
Recently flew from LGW-JFK with jetblue on their a321neo. Was a comfortable flight so much room even for me at a height of 191cm, narrow body longhaul is nothing to worry about
I think it’s always amazing to fly from Europe to the states , and this is a very interesting way to do it , I remember when you always flew a 747 , DC 10 or L1011 crossing the pond , it’s cool to see how aviation has progressed , thanks for you video !
@Phillip Banes The States is a colloquial term for that shithole Country that cannot hold elections without attacking Govt buildings over the results .
@Phillip Banes Relax, man.
Excellent video! My daughter flew from London to Baltimore via Reykjavik several months ago and aside from the smaller plane, she enjoyed her flight as well as the stopover at Reykjavík-Keflavík Airport. She and her husband are flying in for Christmas on the same route, so I enjoyed seeing the flight in action.
I'm doing the same exact thing next week!
Icelandair is a very nice airplane. Can't wait to fly with them again
For several years a group of us flew to Anchorage in July. Eventually we found Icelandair. Back then the facilities at Keflavik were sparse but all the present facilities were under construction.
We found the airline far better than the ones we used before. More seat space and the fact we could board at LHR and no customs to worry about until our final destination at Anchorage. The return flight was a redeye flight over the ice cap with the same customs arrangement in force.
Unfortunately they no longer fly direct to Anchorage. It was only available in summer. But it was great to leave London at 13.20 and be in our hotel in Alaska by 4.30pm.
Contrast this year when it took 150 minutes to clear customs at Denver and 90 minutes to clear security to our gate. 4 hours total.
Finally another brutally honest one! These are my favourites by a huge margin!
Great trip report
The reason for these prices is in fact not only a marketing move. Remember Iceland is an island, which means 90% of their goods and food is been shipped or flewn.
Nice video!! I flew Iceland air around a month ago and my 4 flights all had free WiFi. I don’t know if it’s new, but it was still very tricky to navigate to the free WiFi page. Plus, it said it’s only available for the 737 max. My flights were from ORD to KEF, KEF to BER, and the same back.
Even though the WiFi worked, my overall opinion about this airline is not that great though. In all the years I have flown with them, not once have they not delayed the flight, missing my connections in Iceland more than enough times. They lost my luggage many times too, delaying my trip in Germany. They transferred the responsibility of finding the luggage to KLM (they were my connecting flight after Icelandair was delayed) but still left my bags in Iceland. At the end of the day, I got through most of my plans without too much trouble and my underwear have now seen more of the world than I will ever.
Fantastic video David!😸
I love the new livery and the old retro in Black and White.
Excellent review David as usual! More business class flights would be great… thanks - danke…!!!
Hello from Finland ! Thanks for very informative video! I am soon flying to Seattle by Icelandair. The trip basically pretty similar except departure from Helsinki :D
great video and review!
Hi there! Great video really enjoyed it! Would definitely consider Icelandair’s Max fleet. Was really impressed with the size and quality of their IFE screens. I think Greenland is hard to beat for scenery!
Using the single-aisle for transatlantic travel is a blast from the past. After all, before the 747 debuted with Pan Am in 1970, all planes were single-aisle, but the difference is that the current aircraft fly significantly slower than the 707, DC-8 and Convair 990 did. I’d hardly call that progress.
Flying Denver to Germany tomorrow and now I’m much more comfortable to fly Iceland Air! Thanks man! Great video!
I quite like the new Icelandair livery, to be honest!
Good Flight
congratulations on your video
I will be taking a similar flight in September - but from Manchester - Keflavik - Seattle. This was so interesting and reassuring. Thank you
Love the video -- thanks!
really enjoyed the video; I was very interested because i know iceland air is so reasonable; good report and thankyou
I think there is another MAX flight that is as long as this one. That is CM382 (PTY to SFO). I have flown on this, both in Business Class and as well Economy. It is pretty comfortable too!
Loved it. Great review. Haven't been on the Max yet. Looks great.👍😊🇮🇪🇺🇲✈️🛫
Personally, I love medium size single aisle 737s. My longest 737 flight was when the NG came out and was on the Southwest 737-700 from BWI to LAX, that was over 5 hrs, more like 5.30 min, I thought that was amazing back then.
Oh wow the Gin Selection! Lovely!
So nice trip David
Wow that GIN selection is HUGE ❤❤❤❤🍸🍸🍸🍸
Hi Simply Aviation, thanks for this great and interesting trip report! Let me add to your thoughts something... its true the 737max and A321 Neo are very efficient planes even on these long-haul routes. But there is another important aspect for airlines on these long-haul routes and its: cargo. These planes will never able to carry that much cargo as a heavy, twin-aisle aircraft and that is why we can't say fully this is the future. Yes, we're gonna see more and more often these smaller planes on these routesbut they will never replace and fully cut out the bigger planes. Some airlines will always stick to the "heavy" planes because , cargo is a pretty big aspect and business also for PAX airlines.
This series is the best aviation series on youtube.
We must get used to this kind of flights in the future.Nice report
I filmed the arrival of the inaugural flight that Jeb was on from Keflavik to Raleigh in the spring. His video was highly anticipated here as it was the first foreign overseas based airline to make regular service here. I have a need to get to Sweden and the UK, and this service makes a good choice.
love the old livery more. Had more of a legacy feel to it for me.
Thanks for this review. It has convinced me to book that KEF- YVR flight on Icelandair economy.
Nice 737max video David! Do you have any upcoming videos of the 737max’s counterpart, like the a321neo? :D
You should try Delta’s 767-400ER from CDG to RDU. The service is upgrading from the -300ER in March. Perhaps this could get you over to the US to try Avelo and/or Breeze
I personally love the new Icelandair livery, that shade of purple complements the white fuselage so well. Different coloured piping for the back of the tail representing different facets of Iceland is a nice touch too. I think the controversial nature of the rise of long narrowbody flights, is probably down to people associating them with LCCs with tight legroom and a mediocre offering overall. Consequently, they associate widebodies with business class suites and some of the world’s best airlines. I’ve never flown longer than 2 hours on a single aisle aircraft, so I can’t say if the resistance/backlash has merit, but to fly 7h, this Icelandair MAX or JetBlue’s/Air Astana’s A321LR, over Cebu Pacific’s A330neo any day.
Awesome viewing also loads of information, one thing I never experienced is take off in raining day are snowing day
737MAX and A320NEO are the best aircraft for long-haul flights if to choose between narrow-body planes. Also need to say that comfort on such flights depends on the airline. Icelandair is a good airline for long-haul flights, they also have B767 in their fleet.
Many thanks to Simply Aviation and personally to David for another wonderful tripreport 👍
A321XLR soon!
Iceland Air is still running their 757s until 2028 as well and they have a couple 757 Pencil 300s.
@@BestOfAviation Boeing is doing the same on the MAX8 and 9, will be called MAX9ER and MAX8ER, Boeing did this for United back in the day when they asked for Extended Range on the 737-900NG. The current MAX operators have requested same, the MAX7 when it comes out next year will not get an ER version.
@@ravensrulzaviation love the pencil!
not a320neo but a321neo and soon a321xlr
excellent review.
Tbh iceland air is always so smooth and were great when our luggage was lost about covering the basic clothes we needed during the break over Christmas
On a 737max, amazing!
7:20 This doesn‘t seem to always be the case, on medium-haul Condor does, but for 6hr+ flights they don‘t seem to have any charges. At least when I was flying with them the last time.
Beautiful plane. Crisp white and blue
I used to stay at that same Radisson Blu when I was crew years ago. Miss it!
Great to hear that passengers are getting almost the same conform than a widebody, but for the crew is another story, having a lack of privacy and proper rest areas for these longer flights 😔 Now also, I believe the longest flight in a 737 MAX is Batik Air from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to Melbourne, Australia; 8+ hours. Would be great if you could eventually review that one too 👍
I just flew Icelandair from Washington Dulles to Amsterdam I really like the airline. I paid 530 dollars for that flight round-trip. KLM for that route was over 900 dollars.
Nice intro. Good review 👍
Both planes were very modern. I love the IFE. The price you paid for the meal was a bit high, but the quality of the food was very good👍👍👍
This is a great review. I like Icelandair
I liked your point at the end, since most seats on long haul flights are empty anyway
great trip
Simply the best
I like the new livery of Iceland 🇮🇸 Air - And I must say Cabin is very impressively elegant !!
I have flown a 10 hour non-stop sector on a 707 and that was fine. It is not the aircraft type but the configuration especially seat pitch and seat comfort and standard of service (and these days the quality of the IFE) which matter, not the fact that the aircraft is a narrow body as opposed to a wide body.
Hello, Simply Aviation.
Your trip reports inspires me to flying abroad. I hope you can visit Indonesia again to try Garuda Indonesia flight during pandemic era or trying new Indonesian's LCC, Super Air Jet.
Flown from WAW to Esparagos (cabo verde) in same condition and it was crazzyy (I'm 195cm tall )
I have stayed at the 747 at the cockpit. amazing experience noisy in the morning and the curtains are not so great but for one night was great
Incredibly helpful, you've convinced me that Icelandair is a wonderful choice. Was hesitant based upon their pricing being so low compared to competitors, but it looks like the quality I would expect from any non-u.s. based company.
Low? Interesting, I find them expensive in comparison with others. But I don’t mind the price since I was always wondering before Corona how can airlines survive which such low prices. But in any case Icelandair is not cheap at all in my opinion.
You guys finally talk during vlogs it’s way better this easy please keep doing this
All videos with red text in the thumbnail will be narrated reviews. :)

The fish that's flown and emptied early on in your video is NOT frozen (also mentioned when you land), it's cooled and I used to handle the plastic pallets they come on every day as a telehandler operator in reykjavik
Most people like a good drink on long haul, so by the time you have paid for all the food and 6 or 7 drinks etc you may as well pay more with other carriers where it's all included, plus the bonus of being able to get up stretch your legs on a wide body
Longhaul travel in narrowbody aircraft is here to stay, but as an av geek, I'm still going to avoid them as much as possible.
I've flown on the TAP A321LR from Washington DC to Lisbon, and it wasn't bad, but widebody aircraft are still more comfortable overall.
Nice video. Cheers.
Hope to see you at GOL 737 Max from BSB to MCO
Honestly thank you for thsi video! I loved it! And also honestly sometimes i just wished that Boeing and Airbus just united into one big single aircraft company just 'cause of all of the rivalry and drama between them.
I love the MAX
yup, my town Seattle, not ready for prime time at Seatac...
my longest narrow-body was a 707 from seattle to tokyo......inflight intertainment was reading magazines
I’ve flown the Iceland air flight from Toronto to Iceland upgraded,
it was so boring because it didn’t have a TV
5:58 Icelandair definitely provides free meals depending on your fare class.
I have not fly on the B737 MAX.Great work
Amanda and i may have to take Icelandair to Tenerife in 2024. I am only a cm taller than you and Felix so i am sure i would fit fine on Icelandair in the back of the bus. I usually sit in the seats you sat in on thise video. 1 or 2 rows aft of the wing. I am hoping with the new terminal at MCI Icelandair will resume serivce to KC. Great video as always.
The longest 737max flight is BSB to MCO operated by Gol linhas aéreas do Brasil.
I think that GOL have the longest MAX route: BSB/MCO
I wasn't aware of the efficiency (seat to aisle ratio) of the single-aisle planes. This would suggest that the wide-body planes are on the way out.
Great flight. Narrow body aircraft with long range flight is the future, this type of Aircraft suitable for route between Big City/Metropolitan city to Small and Medium-sized city or even between city to tourism destination which the airport can't host wide body aircraft. My biggest question is, how about inverse of this thing? Wide body aircraft with shorter range flight or maybe similar aircraft like 757 in the future?
I thought it used to fly to Anchorage/ANC. If so, it should be the longest trip to fly to ANC from KEF.
Great video.
I just flew Hel-kef-yvr return with FI. Mixed feelings. When planes were full to YVR direction it was annoying cramped and hot to travel. Return was just half full, so feeling was very positive. We left from YVR before scheduled time and flight time to KEF was just 6h50min.
I love that stop at KEF. Can walk, have a cigarette, buy a tax free in peace.
I hate the food and beer prices at plane. Subway to plane is recommended.
The long ad when you turn your IFE on...
It is not bad, it is just stupid.
A A380 still sounds better to cross the pond for me. I will vote with my wallet.
They started with single aisle jets in the late 50s… I am only pulling your leg. Have we gone full circkle now? I remember the Danish charter airline Sterling Airways flying chaters to/from Denmark to Omaha with the Sud Caravelle. The also fly the Caravelle to CMB!
Good vid
went on a school trip to iceland and before our flight back i got a bunch of food and snacks from netos (icelandic groccery store) which costed me only 10-12 dollars 😂
Look at a good flight, with IFE and good on-board service, now comes that GOL flight from Brasilia-Orlando, which I think is even a little longer, without IFE and GOL sometimes has bad on-board services, so imagine. I'm Brazilian and most people complain about GOL.
how is it when you recline back, I am looking at flying them to Paris next year and have 10 hours in the air from Orlando to Iceland to change planes so would be sleeping most of the flight
