That Moss green yarn is drop dead gorgeous. I don't know what it is about green, but whenever I see a pattern advertised in a beautiful deep jewel tone green, I can't help but want it THAT much more. 😂I totally understand that feeling of being done but not wanting to leave... It's like getting to the last page of a great book... you don't want it to be over, you wanna stay a little longer in that blissful bubble before you have to burst it and come back to real life! lol

That is EXACTLY what it felt like! And I agree about the green yarn 😉

So fun to see your FLOCK scores! The greens… and cat astronaut bag come ONNN! You meandered VERY effectively. My brain glitches at these big events and I think I leave my body 😂

To be fair, mine does too! This is why we needed two days this time, so I could take my time and *try* to focus 🤣

I did watch until the end! (It took me awhile.) I very much enjoyed your episode and am amused that you DID eventually realize that you were searching out Christmas-colored yarn! This was my first Flock (I'm from SF), and I enjoyed it. I didn't take any classes and flew in on Thursday afternoon. Amy from La Mercerie had invited folks to join her at the Bainbridge Ferry Building at about 10am (I can't remember exactly) and take the ferry to the island. But I took an early ferry at 9:20am or so. It was FABULOUS and uncrowded. I met some really nice knitters. Because I knew that Amy would first take folks to La Mercerie, I headed there first. I bought just enough yarn for a scarf project, then I walked over to Lamb and Kid. It was great! It was starting to get a bit crowded, but I did see hordes of knitters headed for La Mercerie as I was walking to Lamb and Kid. At Lamb and kid I only bought a few skeins of their special Spincycle colorway and an Oh Wow Amsterdam bag. (Each yarn store has unique bags from Oh Wow Amerstam and I have a "bag thing".) Then I headed for lunch at that fabulous Mexican restaurant on the main strip where they had Mango Margaritas almost s big as my head. Lunch was SO GOOD. I then headed back to Seattle on the ferry. Absolutely no lines or crowds. And the weather was PERFECTION, as in you could stand on the deck and were neither too hot nor too cold. After that I was EXHAUSTED so I Ubered back to the Hyatt Regency and relaxed. I never even realized that it was a hot or muggy day.
I headed to Flock around 9:20 on Saturday and, again, more perfection. Yes, I stood in line until it opened, but I was inside and chatting with folk. When it opened, I made a beeline for Les Garcons because I wanted their "What the Flock" bag. I ran into Kevin and Ray (Needles at the Ready) several times over the weekend, and we had some nice chats. I also saw GG and had some chats (and pics) with her. I ALSO found Handspun Hope and bought some GREAT project bags from them.
Sunday was another, nice, chill day. AND THEN, for me, the highlight of my trip. I met up with some folks and we headed towards Mt Rainier for the Indie Untangled Retreat. It was just a few days but was FABULOUS. The designers from Wool & Pine gave an entire day workshop, out in nature, about photographing your knits, both on and off the body. It was SO GOOD. We also spent a day at Mt Rainier and it was gorgeous. It was foggy as we arrived, then the sun came out, then the fog descended by the end of day. Magical.
I feel like I've written enough on YOUR vlog (lol), but I won't be at Flock next year. I will be on a European cruise with the Grocery Girls. They were super sad to realize that it conflicted with Flock, but I don't plan to go back every year anyway. Anyway, thanks again for your newsy vlog!

This was such an amazing recap! It sounds like we almost overlapped a few times. I snagged an Oh Wow Amsterdam bag last year and I LOVE it, it's one of my favorites. And it sounds like you're going to be having an amazing time next year, so something tells me you won't miss Flock too much 😉

Thank you for a nice Flock recap! I’ve lived on Mercer Island a decade ago, but I’m currently convincing my family we need to go back and visit and go to Flock next year! 😂 Needless to say, my husband and two sons are buying that particular argument, but we’ll see! We miss our friends and the nature a lot, but it’s quite a ways from Sweden, so it takes planning.

Have to agree - the space was amazing for the festival. It felt so comfortable for such a large gathering. As one of those people who is very introverted, it wasn’t the same feeling as most large crowds. It was a lot, but not anxiety producing because everyone was so gracious and kind.
Hope the cats didn’t miss you too much. Thanks for the recap - have a few booths to make a point of getting to next year now.

An incredible podcast. Love seeing so much about Flock. I love every yarn you bought and it’s funny, all three, the moss, the marigold and the red would all look incredible together - just saying, in case you have leftovers. I can’t wait to see what you make with all them. Oh, the buttons are amazing too. Very unique. So glad your sock pattern was such a hit. What an exciting and amazing weekend. I just can’t imagine. Such fun.

My daughter and I went again this year, and she does live in Seattle and I came up from Portland and we also stayed at a hotel too so we could be amongst our peeps! 😂 we loved the show and thought it was so much fun and we got so many goodies, including your sock pattern and sock set from Hazel Knits! Our first booth on Saturday was also Denim & Rain so we must have been close to you but I’m bummed I didn’t get a chance to say hello and tell you that we love your podcast! Maybe next year! Now my daughter and I are planning for the next fiber event Sacred Sheep in November! Happy knitting!

I wish I could have gone! Alas, I was dog sitting/ house sitting that weekend and couldn't make the drive up from California. The last time I went to a big Yarn/Fiber convention was Stitches West back in 2016... I was 9 months pregnant, literally 9-10 days from giving birth to my daughter lol! My mom even pushed me around in a wheelchair for some of it so I didn't get too tired haha. It is an amazing memory, I wish I had pictures! ❤

If you want to tackle more granny squares, check out the Jethro Cardigan by Tanis Lavalee. It uses the granny squares for the back and front panels and then uses knitting for the ribbing, lapel, and sleeves!

Oh, one more thing. I bought a 20oz Yarn Chicken mug from them on Saturday. I saw the Flock mug but it was too small for me. And THEN the handle broke in several pieces when I was transporting it to Mt Rainier. So I've gone onto their website and ordered _another_ 20oz Yarn Chicken mug AND a 20oz Flock mug. (They told me that I could.) So, yeah, they are still taking "pre orders" for the mug.
