Loving this review and the Astra which will be our choice of replacement lease vehicle going for the 1.2litre 130bhp 8speeds auto GSLine Thanks again for this great review of another Stellantis vehicle Merak. 🥰
Finally the review I have been waiting for. I ordered the new Astra a couple of months ago and it feels like I have made a good choice =) Arriving sometime around new year.
Marek I really enjoyed your great review ! You are the automotive review man ! I think it is a great car. I love the design. Imho Stellantis is doing great things with the German Blitz.
Thank you Marek for the comprehensive review. Tried my friend’s Golf 8 and went for a test drive in the Astra (thanks to your review), and I agree infotainment on the Golf is way too busy to handle while driving. Bought the 1.2 petrol automatic Astra a couple of days ago and I’m loving it. Yes, it’s a bit underpowered compared to the Golf’s 1.5 eTSI, but you can’t feel the difference that much on the day-to-day. Astra is cheaper than the Golf, but I honestly can’t find it lacking in any substantial way compared to the Golf. Greetings from Bulgaria 🇧🇬
For me, the price is still difficult to comprehend. 43000 euro for an Astra seems too much. Also, love the classic auto gearbox but the 3 cylinder at this price point is not acceptable.
It is a PHEV, so it has to cost more for the additional electric motor and batteries. Not to mention that cars on a whole have become extremely pricier recently across the board. Comparing it to its current competition, it is not really expensive at all.
Thanks for the review Marek. Opel isn't available where I live any more but it looks like the Astra is quite a sensible and practical car. It'll probably help Stellantis find an audience with people that are put off by the 'Frenchness' of their other brands, and I hope they handle Opel better than GM did. Is there any word on a warm/hot version like they had in the past?
Polish dude speaks french in an English review Mr worldwide 🌎 But in all seriousness, I would happily upgrade from my mk7.5 golf to this if it was all electric and not a stellantis product. Physical HVAC controls should be mandatory by law.
Stellantis just announced an electric 308, and this will get the electric treatment as well. Also today I read there's an updated version of the electric 208 (range up to 400 km now), so I imagine the electric Astra will get this upgraded battery/powertrain as well. And yes, they should make knobs legally required :)
Strangely enough, Astra made me think of physical knobs too. Although I prefer the looks of the Astra to 308, the thick piano black bezels around the instruments and vents would just do my brain in. It's terrible. Also, the highway consumption is about the same as Prius from 2012. This makes me think about the Prius - after the unbearable amount of negativity towards Toyota's hybrid technology some 10-15 years ago, no one seems to care today! It will likely be the same with EVs in 10 years. Time solves everything, I guess.
I had astra from 2015 and now I have from 2017. It’s so great car and no issues at all. The new one even is nice looking etc, I don’t think I will change for any car produce after 2020. We have 3: peugeot, ford and Hyundai year 2022 brand new as a company cars and they are rubbish and all problematic. Hyundai twice in service (first 500 miles on clock then on 800 miles on clock) Now peugeot 2008 is waiting as all controls on dashboard shows. Every one which you can think about 20 000 miles on clock year 2021. Ford year 2021 had about 10 000 miles on clock when problems start.
Prices have gotten insane, I had a K 1.4 150ps , Innovation that came at about 30k with all the extras (Intelilux, Keyless, Heated seats and steering wheel) now its just absurd. The 2016 A4 B9 2.0 TDi 190PS 7S-tronic started at 35k now the astra 1.5 Diesel @ 32k ???
Let me paint you a picture: I can park the car in two places at my house. Either my driveway, which on the inside of the sliding gate, or in the street next to a fence door (whatever they are called in English). When I go to open the gate, I pass next to the car, which opens, when I approach, and shuts, as I go further towards the gate. When I return towards the car, and maybe have a bag I'd like to put in the trunk, the car opens on approach, and sometimes manages to lock again, before I reach the trunk. So it does get quite annoying. And if the car's parked in the street, I may leave the house through the fence door, and simply way away, but since I pass by the car, it will unlock, and lock. So these are two scenarios at my home. I'm sure if you just park it in the street, and you don't have to walk next to the car, if you're not planning to drive it, then it's not a problem. I prefer when the carmaker lets me choose auto lock, auto unlock, auto both, or both off.
@@MarekDrivesENG the fact is that I do not see the point of walking with the car key when you do not need the car. I see how you can go by the car more than once, but with the key? Why? Maybe I am the wierd one who does not always carry the car keys one he does not need them.
