i PERSONALLY KNOW Q-BERT AS WELL. WE ALL CAME UP IN THE LOCAL DJ WORLD. QBERT HAS ALWAYS SHOWN LOVE TO ALL ETHNIC GROUPS. YES, HE HAS MANY BLACK FRIENDS. I KNOW THIS TO BE VERY TRUE. I HAVE NEVER KNOWN OR EVEN HEARD A RACIST THING ABOUT QBERT. HE IS DEF ON A DEEP SPIRITUAL LEVEL NOW. AND IT'S NOT HIS FAULT HE WASN'T HIP TO ALL LIVES MATTER AS A GROUP. NOT HIS FAULT FOR NOT KNOWING. HE'S BUSY CREATING AND TOURING AND MAKING HONEST MONEY. BLM IS ONE SINGLE FOCUL POINT, BUT HE SEE'S A GREATER AND BIGGER PICTURE AND WANTS US ALL TO MOVE TO THAT BETTER LEVEL OF HUMANITY. AFTER KNOWING THE MAN FOR SO LONG, HE HAS NOTHING TO PROVE ABOUT WHO HE IS, WHAT HE BELIEVES IN, BECAUSE THE TRUTH IS IN THE PUDDING. TASTE HIS PUDDING AND WIPE OUT THAT ANGER IN YOUR EYES. IN HIS WORLD, IT'S ALL DJ, CREATION AND LOVE. THAT'S WHAT HE WANTS AND SEE HIS WORLD TO BE. JUST BECAUSE HE ISN'T HIP TO WHAT IS GOING ON IN YA'LL NEW GENERATION, DOESN'T MAKE HIM A BAD MAN IN ANY WAY. HE WILL STILL WHOOP YOUR ASSES ON THE TURNTABLES REGARDLESS OF YOUR SKIN COLOR.
Aawww.... @17:09 he dodged the question and tried to be "inclusive". Truth is FILIPINOS... played a HUGE part in BAY AREA hiphop history. They ALWAYS BEEN THERE. (and yes, latins on the east coast. BOTH, to be honest). Kinda grinds my gears when ONE RACE says "hiphop is my races culture". Its ALAYS BEEN MULTIRACIAL. Do your homework and know your history.
Stated accurately, you are absolutely correct. Furthermore, the music of the Americas was an evolution of European, African and native influences, with later Asian, Indian etc influences.
Yeah, something is definitely strange here. He literally responded with "I have a black friend" when asked about BLM. He seemed a little defensive in general, and there was also a lot of talk about "the new world", and "moving on to the next world", and "some people will move on and others will get left behind". He also takes a swipe at atheism towards the end, and when your opinion on Trump is "some of the stuff I like, some of the stuff I don't", that sounds like you're on that bullsh** to me. There's an old phrase... if it quacks like a duck, it's probably a duck. And Q is doin' a lot of quackin' right here. Also, has he still not vocalized any support at all for #BlackLivesMatter?
First he pissed off black people and now he is accusing Atheist of being down with some evil capitalist shit .. He is just needs to take off from DJn and go studying other things for awhile. I feel that when he talks about "God" that is his Christian side talking but then again he mentions Karma and that is from a totally different religion .. Anyway, lets hope because he did do good in the Hop hop community- Peace
Jermaine Inoue yea, he should stop focusing his attention on being literally the best in the world at what he does, and go get brainwashed by SJW morons, who don’t actually care about black lives since their policies would cause more black deaths if implemented
@@jermaineinoue4919 uhhh, God is worshipped through all religions. He’s definitely spiritual. I wouldn’t say Christian. What he talks about more co-aligns with mysticism/early philosophy such as the teachings of Marcus Aurelius ‘Meditations’. Idk I don’t believe in this whole cancer culture stuff cause it’s just making people go backwards and it’s a way of oppressing people by making people feel oppressed just because of some words/beliefs someone has just because it doesn’t co-align with the fad/trend of political correctness. These generations sure know how to send a tweet/post on their Instagram story about their political sides to look woke but won’t even go out in the real world to make a positive change they want to see in the political climate/world view. They would rather just spit at people for having a different view or spit at people for believing a higher power. Same hate just like racist people.
It is weird that he won’t say black lives matter...like at all. Even when he brought up the bricks and conspiracies, he still wouldn’t say it. Even if he’s struggling to explain things...the host is clearly helping him through it (as a good host should) but I don’t know that I can buy that, “he didn’t know”. It’s not new, the movement popped up a few years ago and all lives matter was a way to minimize the struggle. And when they ask what would you say to George Floyd’s family, “That wasn’t cool” would not have been my answer.
You're right, it was weird saying 'that wasn't cool' and kinda painfull, but let's not forget he's a dj not a political spokesperson.. he was clearly talking about the bigger picture, but I guess he should've dumbed it down a bit for all the PC witchhunters lmao
DJ Durian I agree about the big picture, but it’s okay to think big picture and still appreciate the little things. The little things make the big picture.
@@ClevelandTerry yes he should've been more clear, it was awkward how he struggled to find words, totally out of his comfort zone if the topic isn't about djing, hiphop, aliens or spirituality lmao
He's answering every question. Maybe the thing is... he's not answering what u want to hear. And I say this being very disappointed with Q cuz the things he wrote these days but here, I think we can see how he is and he is talking about love a peace because he believes in that... idk...
if you cant see that this interviewer is SOLELY asking NOTHING BUT political questions that are very obviously trying to push the interviewers agenda then youre blind, if i was a hiphop DJ and being asked nothing but political questions and having EVERY FUCKING QUESTION be SOMEHOW related to someones race then i wouldnt answer any of them, because the interviewer is more interested in shit stirring or having yesman answers to further his agenda than asking one of THE GREATEST DJ's in HISTORY about the things that inspire him, or his history with DJing, or graffiti art, or bboying, or anything that Q-bert is actually knowledgable in and gives a shit about, then its just a complete waste of an interview and a liberal circle jerk, if you ever actually stop and pay attention the ONLY ppl that keep talking about race and racism is Liberals thats it. #makesYaThink #DontBeASheep
Q Bert is a DJ legend, a brilliant artist. Respect that. You're gonna "cancel" him in the DJ world for political tweets? lol What type of bitch-made clowns are calling themselves hip hop DJs in 2020 to "cancel" someone?
GOTTA COME TO QBERT DEFENSE....I PERSONALLY GREW UP WITH Q....NEVER HAD A RACIST BONE IN HIS BODY!!!!!I SUPPORT MY CHILDHOOD HOMEY 100%......WE GREW UP IN DALY CITY...A VERY DIVERSE CITY...
@Bobby Brady Well, let's begin with the fact that he didn't know that an "All Lives Matter" movement existed (around 02:00). Next, he suggests that black lives shall be respected because "the first original man on the planet" was black - I find this form of reasoning to be ludicrous. Next he claims that "they" perhaps could be using "this" to "start a new world war"... I can find numerous more example, but he says so himself, he's just scratching all-day

Qberts mind set is where more people need to be. Love each other as people, stop the hate and stop the sensitive blame game. And to those people who call him racist, look at yourself first. He is a minority and feels the same judgment, gets the same hateful looks, and experienced the struggle first hand that all of us people of color put up with day in day out. I respect that he chooses love and peace over hate.
Damn .... I was just thinking of Q Bert and searched for him on RUclips and saw this . I had no idea about any “controversy” and it’s kind of wild the more i read into it . I’d think someone who’s been involved in hip hop since I was a teen in 90s, would be more aware of co-signing certain people or messages . Him trying to use analogies about hypothetical space events wasnt helping... SMH this why we can’t meet our hero’s 🥺😔
Yo... Ignorance is bliss. (Aside from that...) Met Q once. Hes "friends of friends". He didnt know me (but he knew WHO i was! THASRIGHT! lol!) He was in position to run authority on me but he was HIGHLY RESPECTFUL and FRIENDLY. Where i have met other "pillars" of the hiphop community and they were less than friendly or respectful cause they judged me on the the color of my skin and not my history and contributions to hiphop. NOT Q. RREEEAAALLLYYY... just think he didnt know better.
I feel nothing but love eminating from this man.. All lives matter was a perfectly acceptable comment pre BLM, the fact that it is causing this much drama should tell you that Qberts comment about phsycological warfare being used is right on the money....
This dude only knows about scratching and collecting toys and shit. He is not smart at all. So he shouldn’t be trying to give opinions that takes nuance and intelligence.
I only got a couple minutes in and this guy who is clearly no journalist appears to be just some sort of PR rep for QBert already. Ask the questions directly about the specific tweets and comments and let him explain. “My best friend is black.” Lol
Says he doesnt even watch sports... Maybe he should start to see some examples of how to do a proper damage control interview and show some actual remorse and appologize for comments and not to do an interview full of soft ball questions he avoids answering and goes into rants defending himself. People fuck up but show some class and try to learn what is the parts you were wong about vs defending what you said. The message is there but how you say it and how you act in the interview conflict the mesage that needs to be heard.
This "i'm a what if person" as a mantra is some silly shit. Theres a thing called evidence that helps us differentiate between what is real/happening or probable vs what isn't. I could go around all day looking at people and saying "but WHAT IF that's just a robot that looks and acts like a person". Or I could see a car and say "WHAT IF thats not a motor vehicle, but a spaceship from another dimension". I could "WHAT IF" you all day and spew some wild shit but that doesn't make any of my claims credible or probable. It is not a sound basis for rationale. Until you have some evidence, it's straight paranoia.
do you know there alot alot of colors that human eyes dont have the capacity to see? 13 colors humans cant see ruclips.net/video/YGYcvd3n6F0/видео.html
An important thing that didn't get touched on, he also said "MAGA BITCHES." Huge missing piece to the supporters who clearly didn't see the thread. He clearly knew what that meant so can't backpedal on that.
A lot of y’all can’t seem to grasp the mentality of an artist/creative. He’s already admitted his faults and ignorance. I mean what do you want out of him really? Do you really want political input from a damn DJ??? Trust me, I was just as surprised (yeah, and mad) as the next person that’s been a fan of his since the beginning. But ultimately, he’s not in the space to making political stances. He said what he said, so let’s move on and stop wasting useless energy on this dude. Get over it.
Faults and ignorance? He didn't do anything wrong and shouldn't have to explain himself or apologize. Don't try to smooth it over, people are wrong for comin at him like that.
Disappointed that Q is actually very shallow.. Coming from the Hip hop Culture and witnessed the evolution of Hip Hop we expect him to be more of an activist and talk more for us!!
@Bobby Brady @Bobby Brady Us is the Hiphop culture and the message that goes with it but maybe you dont know what im talking about. And its not about ME its about sending a positive message and talking for the people under or anyone whos oppressed. Not about me mate. And when someone like Q whos well respected in his art doesnt wanna get involved and talk about god. ITS DISAPPOINTING!! Or maybe he just got the kanye west syndrome... Do you really think that Qbert cares of an united country? Lol
Theodore did NOT invent scratching. It was Johnny D who in 1968-1970 in Vietnam during the war. He was a radio dj (Soultrain) in the bush. The bombing created his turntable and needle to bounce. He put a band around the tone arm and would control the needle by scratching with it.
My Ace! Guys got a heart of gold and a sense of humor to match! Would never mean to offend anyone nor hurt anyone that looks up them. Got his back 100000% A dj for everyone .
Yep, cancel culture is a bish. And twitter mobs are toxic af and sadly qbert is a victim of this treatment. Scary you can’t speak your mind nowadays. You gotta think like everyone else, cause if you think differently and just wanna be yourself then you’ll get punished for it.
wtf do you expect look at the stupid questions this dood is asking him and trying to put him in a corner to say "the right answer" so he doesnt get in shit
I think he comes from a good place, but he's so painfully uninformed and unaware of the world around him. But that's cutting him too much slack...he has every opportunity to learn and understand about these complex issues but chooses to dive into bullshit conspiracy theory nonsense. The same way that ignorance to the law isn't an excuse, neither is ignorance to all these other issues. He has a platform and a responsibility to use it, and a career that's built upon black music. Shame to see how one of the greats has fallen...even more disappointing to see all these Qanon stans and washed up "all lives" idiots in the comments.
We can chat on the phone... there’s def a debate to have about responsibility to use one’s platform. Most of us got to where we are by being our nerdy, weird artistic selves. I’m sure there are a lot who don’t focus on let alone share their views on many things that the masses should hear, see and talk about. For example I’m the furthest away from politics as I can be, and don’t want to be in that stuff at all. I get that my vote makes a difference but I struggle enough trying to get through the day and stay on top of things more than the next person. I just have concentration, and priority issues. It doesn’t mean that I’m a bad person, or that I should be shamed for not knowing. We should all be helping each other. Help him understand. Help me see the path. Help you with something. We should pull each other up. Open one another’s eyes. Call me a Stan if you want, but I just don’t like to see people who mean well get bashed on. So he chooses to believe conspiracies. I personally have no idea why there are piles of bricks dropped off the night before a protest and by who. Idk why I see cops allowing people to spray paint walls with Black Lives Matter. Those things are just as odd to me as Q himself. He’s just been doing him as he always has. Should he have read up before chiming in and saying all lives matter? Of course. It was an honest mistake that I myself at one point made myself because I was ignorant to what was. Now we know... (for the record I’ve known for a good while now😂). He made a mistake, and if it was me I would have apologized because it definitely offended a shit ton of people who’s feelings should be considered, especially from a place of giving love. Btw I love you homie, just wanted to speak on the comment.
Who are you to determine what someone has to believe and what obligations they have to some political ideology? People can believe what they want. If you don't like it, fck off. Persecuting someone because they have different beliefs? Last time I checked that wasn't exactly virtuous. Just FYI.
Rare. Someone supporting equality across the board despite race or color or any other irrelevant detail. EQUALITY ACROSS THE BOARD. Next level shit that I've been a proponent of for decades. Q was already a legend in my book, again for decades. Now, dude is on another level.
Anybody whose gets Q, knows that he's a spiritual dude and doesn't know what's politically correct. But he could chose to get more informed. #AssociatedPress
I don't think Qbert had bad intentions but I think it is a bit off that he doesn't realize the negative impact he had one people based on his actions. Accountability is key. He seems so out of touch...
false...us black djs are being boxed out of turntablism...color blindness is a form of racism....even the Gear companies like native instruments are starting to admit they have been racist all these years...if you can see it ur part of the problem...
You the man q. Been a fan forever and no hate here. I believe all lives should matter as well and had to remove myself from Facebook due to the backlash of me having the same feeling saying the same things. Keep up the great work and can't wait for the new wave twisters.
Horrible interview. This didn't come off like these two hoped. This interview made matters worse. This should have been edited down to a 6-8 min video.
Lol Qberts been an ambassador for hip hop for over 30+year's. Traveling to different countries and meeting with different people from all walks of life cultures and nationalities. He CHOOSES to travel to different parts of the world spreading the love of music and art of DJing. He's seen more of the world than 100% of people commenting on here. No one can be more "culturally woke" and open to people of different race, religion, beliefs etc. than this guy. Dude stays for hours after his show is over to spend time with fans in all the different countries. So before people start shooting down on him cause he doesn't answer questions the way you want, you better ask yourself, "Have you seen more or done more for this world than Qbert?"
"It's like, if you go to planet Neptune, and you start killing off all the inhabitants...." ... Sure it is, Q-Bert, sure... WTF was that? Dumpiest answers ever!
"I have Black friend's" is one of the most passive racist statements ever said. This guy is either dead up from the head up or have difficulties articulating himself. This was very painful to listen to. This is why most personalities shouldn't be interviewed. Poster child.
Danm Qbert real talk on music and love n peace. They talked about wave twisters and thats what bought me here. It was wack how there had been people talking jank about Q hating when he was just doing his own thing and living his life quite amazing what his side of the spectrum is all about I can understand what he ment but its a bit hard to explain Exactly what he was talking about in a detailed perspective. Akhi' Q-Bert's out of this twisted world and he's quite right in his whole speech actually not racist at all I personally think some people should re-listen what he said in this interview
Man, all this hate towards Q right now is the true definition of misconstrued.. Let’s not get carried away and act like there wasn’t a large percentage of us in this comment section right now who thought this very same way at one point or another (power for the people, to put kind behind man no matter the color, belief, etc). It’s very apparent there’s a divide going on in the world right now.. And instead of being understanding and willing to educate (though some are), most of us are quick to jump on the hate train to those hesitant to immediately jump on board with any one movement.. The way I see it is.. Good. Take your time, do some research, educate yourself, then make your decision from there.. Don’t let the popular vote or fear make those decisions for you. This man has been forward thinking and positive since I’ve known of him. There’s absolutely no way Q’s a racist nor is he a goddamn Trump supporter lol .. I strongly believe if more people were on his level of thinking we wouldn’t be having these types of problems in our world today. Shame on our DJ community for taking out personal anger / frustrations with everything going on right now, and making mountains out of mole hills with this man..Shit’s ridiculous. We got much bigger fish to fry then to spend our time misconstruing a proper role model’s opinion.

Just found out about this and after seeing all of Qbert's posts, I never care to hear anything from him again. This video was just a damage control attempt and it didn't help the matter one bit.
To his defense, he didn’t know why alllivesmatter is controversial. That’s why he said it. Now he is educated on it and maybe he will start paying attention to what’s going on.

Yes, but being so ignorant about everything is ridiculous and perhaps even more dangerous.
@Bobby Brady Well, let's begin with the fact that he didn't know that an "All Lives Matter" movement existed (around 02:00). Next, he suggests that black lives shall be respected because "the first original man on the planet" was black - I find this form of reasoning to be ludicrous. Or I could see a car and say "WHAT IF thats not a motor vehicle, but a spaceship from another dimension". Q is awesome. Interviewer is hard to watch.
Akhi' Q-Bert's out of this twisted world and he's quite right in his whole speech actually
not racist at all
I personally think some people should re-listen what he said in this interview
😂😂😂😂 Damn Q your answer is out of this WORLD. Tell that fool we started all this shet black folks enhanced hip hop amongst all know that its him when his feet landed. No contreversial is fun without muah mane..
Just found out about this and after seeing all of Qbert's posts, I never care to hear anything from him again. This video was just a damage control attempt and it didn't help the matter one bit.
Haha. Go cry in your safe space.
It was not that biG people Hes into Music Not BS
Q is the muthaF’n man... I don’t know why but this video reminds me of that old Michael Jackson interview With ed Bradley...
like jeru the damja said. its hip hop
Is this a Fred Armisen sketch comedy?
Bananas on the shelf look yummy!
he's hurt a lot of people and he's got no apology or consideration for it. Just excuses.. lame.
whoever has another opinion may have it, whoever does not allow other opinions is a fascist.
Nothing but trying to bait the GOTCHA questions. Terrible interview.
DJ Q Bert is a humble dude he is in is own world the DJ world 👍😎
To his defense, he didn’t know why alllivesmatter is controversial. That’s why he said it. Now he is educated on it and maybe he will start paying attention to what’s going on.
Q is my fave
