Just to add that this crew alone has been the inspiration behind millions of hip hop creations. Thank you for this wonderful demonstration. Qbert,MixmasterMike and Revolution are some of the greatest to ever do it and the fact that they look so young and are still active, even 5 years ago. This is unreal and motivational.
nearly always when ive seen Q play out, he's doing his Turntablist thing. all the party kids run off cuz its not on beat. but all the dj's hang around bc its just incredible to see someone so amazing. of the very few times ive seen him do a more traditional dancefloor set he was just as great
As a kid young Hip Hop head I was so proud that Mixmaster Mike was from my hood in Daly City. Q-Bert was always around in DC and DJ Apollo was also from my hood in Daly City just a block away from me. As a young head I had these guys to look up to and I could now and then actually hang with and know them. Much respect to Apollo, Q-Bert and Mixmaster Mike. Daly City CA All Day!!!! Koo-C Zulu Nation SF/Daly City 🤘🏼
All y'all saying Q is underrated or that he fell off... This man is a timeless legend of the craft, he's one of the biggest names in turntable history.
lets be honest MMM and Q are not as on point as when they were in their late 20s but thats probably just age and doing other stuff. What alot of people dont realise is this shit takes constant practice to be at top form and if you have other stuff to do and are not hungry trying to make it and win battles etc then of course your not gonna go hard at it , I do feel some of live shows can be a bit lazy sometimes but he is gonna do what he wants to do so....
I used to record all the wake up shows back in the 90s on KMEL 106.1 when hip hop was hot hot hot. I still have the famous Saafir vs Casual battle. Man that was bonkers. Sway and King Tech thank you for the realness.
Exactly I was thinking the same thing?🤷🏽♂️ these LAME Serious xm host have no clue who was in front of them? two pioneers and the greatest in hip hop to ever touch the turntables!!!!!!
Lolol the fact you're calling Revolution lame honestly says you don't know what the fuck you're talkin about at all.... Yeah Q & Mike are pioneers, but so is Revolution. Go peep In 12's We Trust from 2000 and then come back and say that.
rule 1 - If the dj stood infront of you is skinny and short then watch the fuck out qbert short and slim , craze short and slim , kentrao short and slim , K swizz , Rena Short and skinny for now ..All the true beasts are built like this
SO DOPE... I always been a wit mike and qbest mentally.. always made sure to check on q-bert every few years... shouts out from so cali! killafornia bboy crew :D
Q, Rev, Mike, & Tech should all give the utmost praise for the founding father of kutting, Grandwizard Theardore! As well as evey DJ/turntablist out there, young, old, or in the middle. G.W.T a true pioneer to the art form & the most important of the 5 elements of Hip-Hop, DJing. Because w/o the DJ'S there would be no Emcees.
They always praised the pioneers, they themselves are pioneers and have always been educators. I know this because I've been into turntablism for many years and have watched many of their interviews.
I like reading bedroom DJ's comments on how he fell off lol. Meanwhile yall sitting in your rooms saying to yourself....if I can just get over being nervous.
.. I used to be nervous before shows .. I would just go out and start playing and planning what was playing by time I looked up crowd was bouncing around getting jiggy with it
even worse they sittin in they room's talkin bout DANG I GOTTA PAY RENT NEXT MONTH! meantime Q- has many homes Owned.. and has traveled the world DEE-JAYING has invented more scratches than most people have ever even heard of.. and is still youthful and loves doing what he does for a living. so all the haters gonna hate but they don't get invited to the D.M.C. but Q=bert gets Routinely invited back for guest scratching appearances and doesn't have to pay a dime to get inside.
I saw him in Newcastle UK. Northumbria university. He was brilliant. I loved the Jungle scratches he did. I heard he stayed and talked to people afterwards. I tried to give him a message from DJ Johnny Juice (P.E.).
Understood. My first love in hip hop was the power of words. But watching true turntablism has always been like watching voodoo find its mark. Its fucking beautiful.
dude, do you remember the original cabinets had this stupid "button shield" on the top so you can only like poke the buttons with your fingers, you couldn't slap them with your hands. It was a pain in the ass.
Dorothy: But it wasn't a dream. It was a place, and you [Hunk] and you [Hickory] and you [Zeke]... and you [Professor Marvel] were there. [Everyone laughs] But you couldn't have been, could you? ✌😂✌
Mix Master Mike opened up for Beastie Boys for the Hello Nasty tour at the Warriors coliseum 1996 I think. Dope scratch set with Rush’s Tom Sawyer beat juggle. I lost my mind. Mix Master Mike owned the opening. Want to hear that again...

The respect man to not only to be humble enough to still learn but to give props to mike DJ Qbert one-of-a-kind.

These Dudes brought so much legitimacy to DJ'ing. Because of them and dudes like them, Turntables can be recognized a real instrument.
I believe that happened in the 70s &80s technology just got better!
3:17 Johnny Sins giving his expert DJ input. This guy really is a Jack of All Trades LOL
"hit em with the baby scratch" hits the most complicated baby scratch ever 😂 mad love for Q Bert tho

Yep
@@djdeemz7651 Yeh because you know raising families, starting businesses and all that. You can't just do mix competitions forever.

Those were the best times.
QBert is the coolest Filipino dude ever!! Its amazing to watch how far he has come through the years
American
8:55 "we need an analogue record for that" TRUE!
or Serato! That Traktor Scratch shit can't pick up small or slow motion well.
Is he using traktor whole time here? He doesn't look very comfortable like he's using normal vinyl
Qbert blew my mind on the Doctor Octagonynacologist album. That was some next level stuff
I remember seeing q-bert live in Edinburgh, must have been around 99' or 2000, great night.

It's about the motion in the ocean, or the vinyl, in this case :)
Because he is Filipino
They couldn't lower the mic for qbert
LMFAO i think they wanted to keep the mic away from the decks. But that's hilarious
That guy in the middle he's probably not comfortable because he can't turn his head each technique that's demonstrated
The desk is really high up too
SO DOPE... I always been a wit mike and qbest mentally.. always made sure to check on q-bert every few years... shouts out from so cali! killafornia bboy crew :D
I saw him live, he was excellent
One of the best that ever did it
QBert is criminally underrated.
hes kinda underrated specially if u think of steve aoki
underrated? most people consider him the #1 turntablist in the world
Yes he is. he dont use a party songs for a babys these days..loololol
ol
Alien Pumpkinhead Posers throw around the term "underrated" when they don't know shit, but want to look like they know something.
He's not as big as Steve Aoki because more people in the world like dance music than turntablism.
Bay Area legend right there QBert !!
Thanks for never getting old.
Another LEGEND..kids today would not understand.....
Great Education!!
ISP sent me a bunch of stuff like autographed 8x10s back in the 90s. Still have it .
I always enjoyed listening to DJs when I was little, still do to this day.
Quick fact: Qbert and Bruno Mars are from the same clan.

Dj Flare is King! Undisputed! Where he at?
I think Qbert and Flare somehow parted ways, because Q couldn't be around "somebody with such a negative energy"...but i have no hard evidence of this
He's still around but pretty much retired from DJn.
DJ Hypnotize is promising a Flare cameo on his chan so that would be buzzin.
Wishful thinking but probably won't happen.
Doderio Larkisso Q and Flare have a big beef. Google it
