    Some were hoping Auri would perform live. But next year more and more Nightwish shows are being added going into the Summer Festivals, and then recording and promoting new Nightwish album to be released in 2024. Auri will have to wait for when and if time permits.

    Johanna looks like a fairy princess from Disney and her voice is absolutely beautiful. Tuomas has the amazing capability to write music perfect for the one who is singing his music, Auri sure is a prove of that.

    I hope you react to Tuomas Holopainen - A LIFETIME OF ADVENTURE (official video) from his 2014 solo project/album, 'Music Inspired by the Life and Times of Scrooge', a graphic novel by Don Rosa, the illustrator/storyteller. It took Tuomas ONLY 15 years from initial idea to make it happen.
    Don Rosa knew nothing about Tuomas or Nightwish, and was very sceptical when Tuomas went to talk to him about his idea when Don Rosa was doing promotion in Finland. He thought he might never hear from Tuomas again. Two years later Tuomas told Don Rosa the album was being recorded in London with an orchestra. Don Rosa thought he might have to pretend he likes the album, but when he heard the demo he was in tears.
    Background info in their own words:
    "Tuomas Holopainen and Don Rosa interviewed by Radio Nova", parts 1&2,
    only 5 minutes altogether.
    Delicate vocals by Johanna Kurkela, Tuomas' wife. Don Rosa appears on the video, drawing.

    0:35 Flipster 2nd Johanna right.
    Auri is Tuomas, Johanna and Troy. If and when they play live, Kai will be the drummer. The big difference between Nightwish and Auri is that in Auri they compose and write lyrics together, it's not only Tuomas' show. In Nightwish, Tuomas is a solo worker in terms of composing and lyrics. Johanna is a very experienced singer, she has been one of Finland's best artists for a long time.
    Night 13 has interesting backstory. Tuomas has been writing short novels since 2012. They are hidden in a desk drawer and he intends to publish them some day. Night 13 is made from one of those stories.

    Yes, Johanna Kurkela, I love her voice.
    From their first self titled album(2018). The second album ,II -Those We Don't Speak Of, was released last year, which I think Kai played on.
    Next year they may actually get time to play live.
    Try Pearl Diving from the second album.

    This is one of my favourite Auri songs. Johanna's voice is so pretty and in this song I totally admire the fact that she can deliver its heavy message with such grace.
    Auri's music typically gets better and better, every time you listen to it. Don't expect any electric guitars and bass though. They have described their own music as celestial metal, with influences from folk music, Celtic music and soundtracks.

    I love this song and would have it at my funeral, from memory one of Floors family had it at their funeral.
    Troy in a interview said this a song about death and regeneration , Troy also said There is a masterpiece by Richard Strauss the composer.
    Troy said about the name Auri, my interpretation was from the word Aura which means emanation and golden atmospheric, atmosphere.
    Strauss’s Death and Transfiguration, a powerful tone poem that explores the ultimate mystery of what lies beyond earthly existence.
    This i found about Strauss work as he lay dying
    All at once, the pain falls away, and the transfiguration theme now appears in a more complete guise: “there appears to him the fruit of his life’s path, the conception, the ideal which he has sought to realize, to present artistically, but which he has not been able to complete, since it is not for man to be able to accomplish such things.” But, in order to be transfigured, he must leave this world. The pained music of the slow introduction returns as “The hour of death approaches […]” The intense music of suffering returns once more, vanishing with the stroke of a gong as “the soul leaves the body in order to find gloriously achieved in everlasting space those things which could not be fulfilled here below.” -Calvin Dotsey

    "The Space Between" and "Pearl Diving" from Auri are also good. Since you seem to like Johanna's voice, two great songs from her solo career: "Rakkauslaulu" (Love song) and "Kuolevainen" (Mortal). You could also check out her singing with Marko (ex-Nightwish) "Oi, jouluajan ihmiset" ("O People of Christmastime", the Finnish version of "The Wexford Carol").

    I think (not sure) that at least part of the percussion on this track is Troy playing the bodhrán, an Irish handheld frame drum. Auri is so good, hope to see them live one day. More suggestions for you if you liked this: A Lifetime of Adventure, from Tuomas' solo album The Life And Times of Scrooge McDuck; and the new album Legends of Light by Eye of Melian (with again Johanna singing). Any track off that album, really. They're all so good.

    Lovely reaction. I truly love Auri and Johanna's beautiful voice. It is more of folky, cetlicy vibe. Many think that this was the sound Tuomas wanted to do originally but because of Tarja's powerful operatic voice he decided to go the metak route which he also loved. My favorite Auri songs are The Space Between, Desert Flower (Troy sings as well). and The Valley.
    Johanna is an accomplished singer with a deep rabbit hole of music. I loved her in Altamullen Road where she sings with Johanna Livanainen. When It's Time is a beautiful song about an old person who's spouse has passed. They are remembering their beautiful life together and hoping to see them again when they die. ruclips.net/video/PBeCoAOP5d0/видео.html.
    Concur with others on Lifetime of Adventure and Johanna's other project with Eye of Melian which is fantasy move score music with lots of references Tolkien (the lyricst is a professor of Tolkien literature).

    Tuomas uses this side project to explore more subtle music and deep level subjects. The one guy was a famous Finnish actor who was portraying a man recently deceased and gaining the awareness of his passing while awaiting his soul passing over to a new plane of existence.
    Chrissy did hear some percussion which was supplied by Troy on the bodhrán, which is an Irish frame drum consisting of a circular wooden frame covered with a goatskin head on one side. It is played by striking the skin with a small wooden stick known as a bodhrán beater, tipper or cipín.

    Interesting. The vocalist has a lovely voice, and I like when they picked up more aggressive drums and instruments toward the end, but this is really not my style of music. And I found the lyrics disturbing; not sure if the protagonist is about to commit suicide or just die. And the video was just...distracting. For me, it did not add anything to the music. Entertaining for a single listen, but not something I will go back to I am afraid.
    And yes, the obvious commitment of your innermost self and love for music is awesome. Combined with the engrossing lyrics of your songs makes for both enjoyment and involvement at a higher level. Continued thanks for sharing this journey with us. Stay safe, God bless, and keep rocking.

    • @HaecceitasQuidditas
      @HaecceitasQuidditas Год назад

      Yeah, I don't like the video either, even though I like the song. My interpretation of the lyrics is that the protagonist is already dead and in some kind of peaceful and pleasant temporary "intermediate state" before whatever happens after that. But others may interpret it differently. I've seen a few people comment that they thought the song was about dementia. That might fit some parts of it but others not so much. Perhaps "The Space Between" by Auri would be more to your liking. It has more aggressive drums/instruments throughout the song.

      @@HaecceitasQuidditas Yeah, lyrics (especially the one Tuomas writes) are open to interpretation, which is something I love and always a good debate over a beer. Since I have zero musical ability, I am a lyrics guy. The hours I've wasted listening to crap bands because the song lyrics are so intriguing! I'll give The Space Between a listen, thanks for the idea. Always looking for a new band to dig into.

      @@alancarter41 Hi just reading through the comments and thought i would give some insight to the lyrics.
      Troy in an interview said the lyrics were about Death and regeneration,
      He gave the work of Richard Strauss tone poem Death and Transfiguration
      (Tod Und Verklarung) Strauss’s Death and Transfiguration, is a powerful tone poem that explores the ultimate mystery of what lies beyond earthly existence.
      Troy said " When you listen to the final howl into space from Johanna "Now I know", to me it's really uplifting, even though the song behind it is dark and mysterious. She's realizing something and the scream is out of shock, it's the shock of the news. Hopefully this will be expressed in the video,"

    • @alancarter41
      @alancarter41 Год назад

      @@nightwisher751 Interesting take. Rereading the lyrics, there is an element of that, even though to me it seems muted and not the driving point. Tuomas lyrics are always intriguing. I can listen to Song of Myself at different times and see a totally different song. One reason I love his work. Hate to tell Troy, the only thing that popped into my head from the visuals was St Vitas Days Dance.

    • @HaecceitasQuidditas
      @HaecceitasQuidditas Год назад

      @@alancarter41 As I came across the "dementia" interpretation of these lyrics in a couple of comments, I tried to construe the most interesting version of it. IMO, it would be one in which a dementia patient *mistakenly thinks* that the hospice is "the other side". But I can't make total sense of that in light of some lyrics ("younger than yesterday", "no memory lost", etc.) so I think I'll stick to my other interpretation. Without having heard Troy's comments alluded by Doug.P, I suppose "death and regeneration" is roughly in line with how I would have interpreted it.
