I've been waiting for someone to react to this, and you absolutely delivered! :) This is such an incredible song. Johanna's beautiful vocals, Tuomas's keyboards, and Troy with the woodwind and that sensational guitar work. I love the way his guitar rings out, particularly when it comes in near the end. I do believe that all three of them have contributed to the songwriting for this album, as they did for the first one. Not entirely sure who wrote this one - it may have been Troy since he seems to have commented the most about it, but a lot of the vocal lines sound quite Tuomas-y, so it could've been a joint effort? Either way, it's such a beautiful tune and I'm so excited for the rest of the album!

Tuomas was about to become sea biologist and he started studying that in University. He interrupted that and focused on music and lyrics masterpieces. Yes...he is Ocean Soul and we know it.
I'm guessing the background vocals are her (Johanna) .... in your 'GB' passage, @ the lyrics 'It's There' you can here the voices fade separately, which would be tough to do with the standard sampled chorus. Besides, wouldn't you love to be a fly on the wall during their discussions : Tuomas: Dear, I think for this song we will use the KorgChorus, sampled from the angelic voices... of... the .... St. James Choir...... Johanna : T : Ok .... aaaaaaaaaand, back to the multi-tracking..... take 37... This song. Such a beautiful thing. I frequently hear little clips of my own songs in my head while walking in nature, etc, but I rarely ever can write them down before they are forgotten. Tuomas must have that rare gift of detailed musical memory for songs that have yet-to-be-sung. You can hear the slow cadance of the waves lapping against the boat, and the rush of wave-driven mist over the bow, but all in musical form. Thank you for introducing me to something new! Several songs for this album had been begun to be written as early two or three years ago according to Troy. The first album was so good, and Johanna's (BOTH Johanna's actually) "Altamullan Road" album was so magical as well. I don't know if you have "Altamullan Road" songs in your playlist but if not, you might enjoy reacting to the videos released off that album.

I'm with you on spooky stuff, I'm an avid fan of horror movies and books, but I'm less keen on first-person horror games and haunted houses because they throw ME into the situation and stress me out! I'd also consider myself something of an ocean soul, and water in general calls to me.
Can't stop listening to it. And I love the lyrics. Am I the only one who sees a connection to "Why?" by Devin Townsend? To me, the pearl in "Pearl Diving" is your inner self and the entire song is about your sometimes scary and dangerous voyage towards it. It really is a song about existentialism Tuomas is such a master in writing lyrics. And the video is just as good as the ones we got for H://:N.
Am I crazy?? The more I listen to it I hear Agnetha from ABBA. Especially in the beginning. Now anxiously waiting for the CD to ship. Ordered yesterday.

Yes...I wait it too. And Tuomas said that he has already done music for the next NW album. Looks like he is full of creativity now.

All three members write for Auri. I think it may have been Troy who wrote this song/lyrics as he has been the one to comment on the meaning of it.
