Have you guys not seen Tuomas's song "A Lifetime Of Adventure" yet? You must watch it asap! It features Joanna on vocals again and is from his solo concept album about Scrooge McDuck (I know that sounds crazy, but it's really good 😄)
Johanna has such a beautiful voice. This song is on the first self titled album. Kai played drums on the second record. Auri may actually get to some tour dates later this year.
Night 13 from the same album, and Pearl Diving from the second album are 2 more Auri songs to check out.
And A Lifetime of Adventure from Tuomas' solo album, with Johanna on vocals.
Big fundamental difference to Nightwish is that in Auri they do everything together. Johanna has had a long solo career and is also a composer nowadays. If you praise something (composing, arranging, lyrics...), you should praise all of them, not just Tuomas. And yes, Johanna is Tuomas' wife.

Great reaction. It might be a good idea to watch some Auri interviews on how they started? Apparently, It's a common misconception that Auri is Tuomas' side project; it's not. It was originally set up by Troy and Johanna after working together on a song which appears on the first album called 'Aphrodite Rising' ( Tuomas came in later) and the songs are written by all three equally. This song 'Desert Flower' was composed by Troy. It's also very interesting that what sounds like a violin solo is actually Troy playing the Aerophone, which is a kind of wind instrument/synthesiser.
Finally a channel that does Auri! Im Nightwish army but Auri is actually what I listened to the most for the last two years, so beautiful 😍

Auri did recording during lockdown. The album is "II: Those We Don't Speak Of". Tuomas has the next Nightwish album already written as well, and they've done some preliminary work on that.

The violin part on this is played by Frank Van Essen who is a drummer / violinist / string arranger who is a friend of Troy. They both were members of the Celtic prog band Iona. They go back pretty much 30 years. Frank is quite in demand as a string arranger where he creates a full string sound by multi-tracking several violin and viola parts (all played by himself), adding real cello parts, all recorded in his own studio.

My favorite Auri songs are Pearl Diving and Night 13. Especially the first mentioned song is so magical. I always listen to that song with my eyes closed and let the song take me on a magical journey. To me that is 10/10 song for sure!!

The official video of Night 13 is one of the most haunting and emotionally moving videos I've ever experienced. It's so beautiful, so haunting and real, I'm a little bit scared of it. It has a way of awakening every emotion I've experienced in this life, while reminding me, all this ends. To me its a rare wonderfully overwhelming thing to experience in the course of a single song. I highly recommend.

Great reaction. My other favorite Auri songs are The Space Between and The Valley. I absolutely adore Johanna's voice. Some other projects she is a part of include Altamullan Road and Eye of Melian. Altamullan Road is a project with her friend Johanna Livanainen that has a similar vibe. Eye of Melian is a project with Martijn Westerholt that focuses on writing Fantasy/Tolkien movie score style music. Songs to checkout:

I may get myself in trouble, but according to the Mrs. it a superb talent of mine. I love Troy and everything he brings to the table, but when you have Johanna in your group, every lyric that is sung by anyone but her is a wasted opportunity. Her voice in unreal, calming, and so unique.
To me most interesting project involving Johanna right now is -> Insomnium - Godforsaken feat Johanna Kurkela ruclips.net/video/jHN5xONEjSA/видео.html . It's very heavy, emotional and dark, blackened melodeath song. However she sounds very good in every kind of music. I have never been a huge fan of pop music, but I could listen to it when this lady is singing. She can deliver some emotions through her singing. Nightwish Tuomas and Kai in the other hand sound so different on their black metal band Darkwoods My Betrothed. It's completely opposite to beautifull singing from Floor or Johanna :'D.
Johanna is great also on Eye of Melian.
That's one of the slowest songs from Auri. For something with more energy try The space between for example.
And in case you haven't heard of Tuomas earlier side project, try A lifetime of adventure, which has a great video featuring two Johannas, Tuomas and Don Rosa, author of "The life and times of Scrooge McDuck" which inspired Tuomas to this album.
Auri is still going strong with a second album done and some tour planning going on.

They made 2 albums. They have never performed Live. They haven't toured nor probably won't. I thought I told you that. Check out the Song Pearl Diving from the 2nd album. Yes She is a wife of Toumas. Johanna is the One Floor supports by saying check out her knitting on her web. Johanna does it all by hand. Floor had a horse named AURI Also, but had to get a bigger horse. They added Kai on drums on the second album. Its definitely Navigation , finding your way through life to your desired destination.

"They haven't toured nor probably won't" They will definitely tour some day in Finland and probably in a couple of other European countries. Smaller and more intimate venues.
@@ValtteL Not for at least a couple of years. This Spring Nightwish has some shows in Asia then some Summer festivals then recording of Album, then World Tour Next Year. It will probably not be till 2025 or later before there will be time. Unless they should want to squeeze a couple of shows in between Nightwish.
@@MOON-SHADOW-C-ANNE This is so much smaller thing that they could and probable will do between Nightwish things. They had plans for Auri tour in 2021 but covid shitstorm ruined that. Some of the gigs will possibly be in theaters and churches. Anyway, the point was that they are going to do gigs - it's not "only albums side project".

For me personally, imho, here Troy shines, he has a great voice but with NW I prefer him doing instrumental...
And Johanna also is a great vocalist, but for me she's, from what I heard from her, a weaker version of Ellie Goulding
