- In 2013, BYZANTINE released their 4th album, aptly called "The Self-Titled" by fans and press alike. After the release of their first music video, frontman Chris "OJ" Ojeda released a rhythm guitar and vocal playthrough featuring two of the more technical songs on the album.

Man OJ is soooo professional! The timings he plays on guitar and sings over it with precision! Just unbelieveable! So glad you all signed the 4 album deal. You all literally rank in my top 10 favorite metal bands of all time! Hail Byzantine! The Metal God's are smiling down upon you!!!
I had the pleasure of seeing these guys open for Halo of Locusts many years ago and have always been a big fan of their music.Glad to see them back.
As a Huntington local guitarist, I can see why these 2 songs were chosen for a playthrough. I watch this when I'm feeling uninspired to play. Fantastic riffs.

i just wanna say ive been a fan ever since i first heard jerimiad on the metal channel on cable tv like probably 8 or so years ago, and serpents & Oblivion made u guys my all time favorite band thru these last few years. for some reason i was hesitant on checking out this new album but , WOW , im blown away once again.. dude byzantine F@$@#$ rules!!!! also i live out here in san diego and i have turned quite a few of my friends into byzantine fans as well over the years. keep Rockin on OJ/band

This album kills its heavy and progressive my favorite combo :) the riffs are big and heavy enough to crush bones and OJ your vocals are unique and add to the atmosphere of the music without overpowering it while the bass and drums groove along similar to lamb of god but more melodic. I feel this album will definitely withstand the test of time and continue to shine bright

Just killer work on this album. I'd love to get the tab book, since you guys come up with some of the most unique chord progressions/melody ideas in metal. The way you guys keep the songs cohesive is no mean feat either, especially considering the glut of more technically minded bands that do patchwork songwriting. Great stuff!

Sidenote: OJ, your singing has become rather good. I remember being struck with the evolution from say, "Jeremiad" on Serpents to "Nadir" on Oblivion Beckons - where it seems you really took off as a vocalist. In addition, it's rather difficult to switch between multiple techniques and timbres in a single song, and still sing for the song, rather than dip into theatricality. I'm thinking of some of the excellent singing on "Signal Path", specifically.
