Gruene Hall, TX 1995. The bathroom was behind the stage. I was headed back and Ray's guitars were all there. His guitar tech was getting things ready for the show. I stopped and stared in amazement. He grabbed one and said here - you want to hold it? I said no - I declined. I was too scared I'd drop it and people were squeezing by a narrow area going and coming to the bathroom. After the show Ray and the rest of the band stuck around for autographs. I've still got my t-shirt signed by them all, CD cover and pictures. Great memories.

Great Rundown. One of the most beautiful sounds I have ever heard is the sound of Cindy’s original vintage Weissenborn.

I could listen to Ray sing the phone book. Oh wait we don't have phone books anymore. I guess he could sing my contact list.

Thanks, it's so cool to be able to see what they play and the effects they use. They seem like great folk and I enjoyed listening to them.

I've seen Asleep at the Wheel live and met Ray Benson. Nice guy. Also met Cindy Cashdollar when I saw her perform with Sonny Landreth. She's a class act, too.

Okay, now that you've interviewed Cindy Cashdollar, you guys need to do Junior Brown! (And Meghan Lovell of Larkin Poe as well).

Thanks John & the crew, that was a REAL treat. Love to Cindy from the UK (great instructional material too btw) and of course huge respect for the big man RB himself - music fun to make the world go round! Thank you!

Cindy’s points about the physical nature of playing non-pedal steel is true because you to do everything with the bar. But I also wonder if part of it is the tuning. I started on C6 Lapsteel and Dobro. When I graduated to a D10 pedal steel I never really used pedals. The only one I use is my 1st pedal which raises my A strings whole step. I do about every with slants and bar moves. C6 just sound better to me when played like a console. Great video. I would love to see more Steelers. We are getting old. We need to inspire some younguns.

Hey Ray, knurled metal knobs work really good for the volume swell thing. ( Yeah right, like I’m gonna tell Ray Benson something about guitar..) 🙄
