Thank you so much Marly I was so discouraged when I tried the red heart pooling yarn and watched a few videos on RUclips then I watched your video and my scarf is looking absolutely amazing 🧶🤗
Marly, you did the best video I've ever seen on a crochet pattern! You were extremely easy to follow with your superb presentation, and I will absolutely get this yarn and start this project!
I got 6 skeins of the papaya pooling, all the same dye lot at Walmart! I was so happy! I want a poncho/wrap. Looking forward to this project! Thanks so much for this amazing vid!!!!!
Instead of a simple chain through the color sequence 1 time, to start I used the sc foundation chain, went through the sequence 2 times and it was just the right length for the width of the scarf. I used the moss stitch and the Red Heart pooling in Carnival color like you used in the video.
I just tried this technique, using the Michael's yarn I think you mentioned. I chained until I had the complete color repeat. I stopped chaining there. I did the first row like you said, except I went into each chain because I had trouble working around the starting chain. Anyway, I went along and then stopped when I had used all the repeats. At this point I turned and started the next row. I just kept going and it's pooling perfectly, no adjustments necessary.
This is the perfect project to share with my mom this summer! We always get a new pattern, craft or yarn to try during those lazy afternoons sitting on my porch drinking sweet tea! Thanks for this great video!
I've been wanting to try this concept for a long time! WOW! I DID IT!! Thank you so much for the excellent tutorial and thank you to Red Heart for making this so easy!! *Edit to add.. I didn't realize that the turning chain counted as a stitch.. My scarf still turned out great though! Hmm.. I'll stick a pin in that for the next one I do.
Oh Marley bird.. I love you!!! I've been so intimidated to try planned pooling. I've watched videos and found the plannedpooling.com website. I think I now have enough confidence to try this now. Thank you!!!
Hello! I was thinking of new project and found your video. Thank you so much! I just ordered sets of yarns and will start working using planned pooling. This video helps a lot!
Hello Marly Bird! I've never done a planned pooling crochet project, but this really makes me want to try-- especially with the new yarn by Red Heart! Thanks for enthusiasm and the tips of the trade 😉. Brienne in Charlotte, NC
Thank you so much for this video Marly! It is the best one I have seen on pooling and for the first time my project is turning out so well! I especially like the trick you showed for the ends of the rows if the colour is not in the correct alignment. What a great idea to cheat with HDC. Much appreciation for this video!
I have to try this, I have wanted to for some time but now thanks to you I have a better understanding on how to do this. Thank you, I'm off to watch the other videos to get this down!!
I am struggling with this. I bought the super saver pooling in colour Papaya. I can get 3 sts but only by going tightly with a 5mm hook. The fabric it is making is stiff and not drapy. It's lining up just fine, but Marly seems to be crocheting quite loose and relaxed whereas mine is much tighter than my usual tension.
Thank you for introducing this yarn it is so less stressful to work with before I learned how to pool I avoided single crocheting anything so now I can't stop pooling with this new yarn
Hanging in there but so far no argyll pattern emerging. I need a yarn buddie who can sit with me and watch my work and advise. But thats not going to happen. :) I refuse to give up yet. Principle in my head practical application hasn't clicked yet.
Thank you so much for this! I wish that Red Heart would make an even greater variety of colorways in the pooling yarn, but I'm excited to make things with it nonetheless. I came here via the free pdf download of your Fabulous Planned Pooling Wrap from Herrschner's. I'm planning to make it in the Stillwater colorway (as they haven't got a darker blue or monochrome option yet).
Thank you for this! I have redheart super saver in papaya pooling and I had to switch to a size F hook to get my 3 even stitches versus using the h hook. I must crochet really loosely lol anyway I'm getting the pattern down so far and it's very fun! Bringing crochet to another level! If I'm successful with this I'm going to be obsessed with planned pooling!
That is completely fascinating, and you explain it so well! Now I need to try it. But why do you say you need so many different crochet hooks? Normally, that would obviously be about adjusting gauge to your own work tension, but here, it seems to me that the pattern will only work if you use exactly the right tension, and that can only happen with the size hook you used.
Thanks marly. I am using stillwater but get 4 stitches per colour no matter what hook size I try. I think I would have to use a 7mm to get 3 stitches per colour and that makes a really loose fabric. Will it work with 4 stitches per colour? Or are odd numbers best?
Hi Marly. Thank-you very much for the video. I am a little confused on what I do after I finish my project. Do you have a video on what to do with the chain row because it's not the same width as my completed project? Thank-you in advance.
Im trying to get the pooling but not quiet their yet have tried many times. In using redheart supper saver encuentro haute . IT goes white gray black whitegray red. It looks the same as the scarf your wearing in video. When i get to 3rd row at the end ii seem to getone red spare left over each time and ends up on a slalt. I have been trying this for a while now and would like some help if possible please. Maybe a video in that colour if you have one thankyou. Ive reached out in adelaide crochet c lub if anyone can show me but no replies
The colors are inconsistent in the yarn. This has nothing to do with the correct tension, only with counting number of stitches in a color. I'm a little frustrated as I'm using a different color combo than the video and although I have the correct color on the front of the stitch, the back of the stitch might be on the line. I used a size H, I and J hook. I went back to the I hook. Still I don't know what to do on the ends. Do I make one SC ch 2 turn then make two more stitches of same color? Do I count the turning chain as one of those stitches?
It's a little bit of all of that. The correct answer is you will do whatever stitch you need to do in order to get the correct color on the next row. I highly recommend watching all the videos I've done for this technique. Each one is taught slightly differently and hopefully one of them will make it more clear.
I am using the Haute color yarn. The repeat is different, and I’m not getting it to pool. Do I chain through gray, blue, white, gray, red, white? Obviously it works somehow, since the scarf you’re wearing works, but I can’t get it to pool, and I’m three stitches per color.
Thank you so much, Marley, but what do I do with the extra length of foundation chain? I can’t imagine we would be able to weave that in. Is there a video demonstrating how to finish this project?
Thank you. Yes, I found it soon after posting my question, but forgot to go back and delete my question. For those who may have had the same question as I, here is the link ruclips.net/video/09aLXE7jAaA/видео.html
Hi l bought the neon stripes l tried doing in the granny stitch but l get 7 clusters of each colour. Which would make the blanket huge. Is there anyway around this. Any help greatly appreciated. I have 10 balls. Janet
Only work across 1/2 of the total number of each color sequence. I have a great article written by Rocky Cee on my website to help: marlybird.com/granny-stitch-planned-pooling-crochet/
Ok so I see where you added a 4th white st (counting the chain) at about 9:50, to make the pattern shift. Is that how you make it shift? Is the number of stitches less important than their placement?
Hooray! That was the part I was missing- the realization that each row stands on it's own in terms of number of stitches made in each color. The charting videos definitely helped with this too. Any way, I DID IT! Thank you!
I was waiting for you to explain what you do with the unused chains and that unfinished edge resulting from working your first row around the chains at the end of the project... Is there another video where you explain that?
I am really struggling with the sides I understand the pattern of three stitches. But sometimes when I get to the end office church. Which means I’m losing a stitch help please
Will u please let me know how could I get variegated wool/ yern particularly for planed colour pulling ( beginner ) but not too expensive. Amazon will nice
So cool! What does she do with the long starting chain? I never saw?! Just dangling there or is it meant to work all the way across and this was a demo?
Help! By the time I get to the fourth row my stitches are lining up. I dont know what I am doing wrong. I am doing the three stitches per color and it is moving over correctly until literally the fourth row. I have ripped it up and started 3 times!
I love your videos. You explain this so well. I struggle with planned pooling so every time i pick it up i go right back to your tutorials.
Thank you so much Marly
I was so discouraged when I tried the red heart pooling yarn and watched a few videos on RUclips then I watched your video and my scarf is looking absolutely amazing 🧶🤗
Marly, you did the best video I've ever seen on a crochet pattern! You were extremely easy to follow with your superb presentation, and I will absolutely get this yarn and start this project!
I have been trying this for at least 4 hours until I watched this video. I know where I was making my mistake. Thank you
I got 6 skeins of the papaya pooling, all the same dye lot at Walmart! I was so happy! I want a poncho/wrap. Looking forward to this project! Thanks so much for this amazing vid!!!!!
I first remember this from the 1970s. I’ve never crocheted it though it’s always intrigued me. Soon I’ll do it hopefully.
Perfect explanation ❤ Thanks for managing to answer my questions without me even having to ask.❤
Marly after listening over and over again I figured it out!!! Yay! Thank you for encouraging me to be patient!
Young lady - you’ve designed the perfect brim! I have a Halloween hat that I’m going to put it on. Thank you SO much. New subbie.
Perfect instructions. You are a great teacher and the speed is perfect.
Instead of a simple chain through the color sequence 1 time, to start I used the sc foundation chain, went through the sequence 2 times and it was just the right length for the width of the scarf. I used the moss stitch and the Red Heart pooling in Carnival color like you used in the video.
Great tutorial..so easy, I cant wait to make some argyle patterns!! THANK YOU Marly!!!

Same!
Your directions are spectacular! I am going to try it now!
Just ordered my yarn. I love the way these products look.
Marly, you are so sweet, so patient, your instructions are so clear, your videos are great, thank you!
Thank you so much for your video It was a little bit confusing in the beginning but I figured it out got my scarf looking great
Loved your tutorial and the 10 tips to pooling. I am in my first project and it is going very well. 😊
Wonderful!
This is the perfect project to share with my mom this summer! We always get a new pattern, craft or yarn to try during those lazy afternoons sitting on my porch drinking sweet tea! Thanks for this great video!
Totally got it, tfs, you have encouraged me to try this technique. 👍🐢

Thank you for all your video's. Love them all.You are an awesome tutor. Your instructions are so easy to understand. Thank you.

Thank you for saying so :D
Clear and consistent teaching! Wonderful!
I have to try this, I have wanted to for some time but now thanks to you I have a better understanding on how to do this. Thank you, I'm off to watch the other videos to get this down!!
Always trying to learn new stitches going to try this one thank u for your video 😊👌
Wonderful tutorial!! You’re such a good teacher! ❤️❤️👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you!!! Your explanation has allowed me to understand more. I am going to practice until I get it perfect.
Great video! Thank you

Omg I finally get it ! I mean, this yarn is specifically made to pool so it’s easier but hey, I still get it ! Lol
Thank you for this video! I've been waiting for the right-handed instructions. Cannot wait to try it.
Thank you for introducing this yarn it is so less stressful to work with before I learned how to pool I avoided single crocheting anything so now I can't stop pooling with this new yarn
Hello
I have the haute colour pooling yarn and making a throw. Just wondered when I should start the 2nd row after chaining.
How do you deal with starting chain at the end of project so it won't fall off
Thought this was moss stitch in knitting, oh well. LOVE the new yarn colors! Super Saver is the best!!!
Hanging in there but so far no argyll pattern emerging. I need a yarn buddie who can sit with me and watch my work and advise. But thats not going to happen. :) I refuse to give up yet. Principle in my head practical application hasn't clicked yet.
Wow. Not sure how I feel about trying this. It's pretty.
I love the pooling yarn. Mine came out great

I finally got it!!! 🎉❤
Very helpful, thank you
Glad it was helpful!
Greetings🙏🙏🙏Thanks with best wishes 🙏🙏🙏

Oh yay I finally found you. Hit the sub and bell. I'm so happy right now
I have some pooing yarn, and I wanted to KNIT with this pooling method. Any suggestions?
That is completely fascinating, and you explain it so well! Now I need to try it.

When you take the one stitch off on first row what do you do with the extra colour of that stitch
I love it!!! This was a great idea of theirs!!!
I’m going to give it a try
Great instructions! Thanks so much!
I wish we could get RHSS in the UK
Can this be done with the Stripes yarn.
Do we have to use different hooks if we dont want that look.
I love this! Your video is great!
Marly, u are my fave teacher! Do u think there is a way to make a color-pooled argyle TRIANGULAR shawl? Is it possible? TYSM!
Looks fun. Thank you. Are you going to show how the yarn works in knitting?
Thanks marly. I am using stillwater but get 4 stitches per colour no matter what hook size I try. I think I would have to use a 7mm to get 3 stitches per colour and that makes a really loose fabric.
Will it work with 4 stitches per colour? Or are odd numbers best?
Lindo parabéns. Muito bem explicado. Obrigada

Thank you,I love this yarn👍👍👍👍👍
So… what do we do with the extra stitches from the beginning chain?
Fascinating!
Would this wool be any good for a blanket?
Im trying to get the pooling but not quiet their yet have tried many times. In using redheart supper saver encuentro haute . IT goes white gray black whitegray red. It looks the same as the scarf your wearing in video.

How about doing a knitted planned pooling pattern
With working around the foundation chain how would I start a boarder for a baby blanket? I didn't find anything like that in your play list
How do you make it wider please?
Amazing!
I don't understand how to make the second row first stitch yellow. I have all the white left from the single crochet I take out of the first row.
Can planned pooling be done on a loom?? 🙏🏻
How to make the paanned pooling with the stripe yarn or cotton?
Yay! Just ordered that yarn! Thanks!
Thanks for making the explanation so easy ...No offense to Mikey at the Crochet Crowd...but he confused me 😬😬😬
I am using the Haute color yarn. The repeat is different, and I’m not getting it to pool. Do I chain through gray, blue, white, gray, red, white? Obviously it works somehow, since the scarf you’re wearing works, but I can’t get it to pool, and I’m three stitches per color.

I love this video but why did you do the stitches around the foundation chain instead of in the chains? I didn’t get that.
So you can move them to adjust for the tension in the blanket.
Wish you would of done this sample with the color you have on!
OH I hope you teach knitting for this!
Can you do this in knitting? If so please do a video. You are a great teacher.
Is this new concept easily done with larger projects, such as a baby blanket?
Yes
Hello can I use this yarn to make a pooling for cardigan
Hi l bought the neon stripes l tried doing in the granny stitch but l get 7 clusters of each colour. Which would make the blanket huge. Is there anyway around this. Any help greatly appreciated.
I have 10 balls.

How many repeats did u do for your cowl and how many skeins? I love it ❤
Can you do a blanket like this by just starting with a longer chain?
Yes. I have a video for that on my channel too :)
Ok so I see where you added a 4th white st (counting the chain) at about 9:50, to make the pattern shift. Is that how you make it shift? Is the number of stitches less important than their placement?

Or any other. I am eager to do that method.
what do you do with the leftover chain from the beginning row when you are finishing something like a scarf?
I'd wondered the same thing. I was waiting for that for the whole video.
Loosen the knotted end and pick the leftover chains apart and tie a knot near the work.
SynfullyWkd67 Thank you! 🤗
You're quite welcome :)
This is nice!. Could you do a granny stitch instead of the moss stitch?
LOVE this!! TY
Can you knit and still get the same pattern?
Except you didn’t explain why we need all the different crochet hooks. Is it a gauge thing?
So cool! What does she do with the long starting chain? I never saw?! Just dangling there or is it meant to work all the way across and this was a demo?

Great video .. very clear and easy to understand . How much yarn do I need to make a scarf u had on ? Thanks 😘
