- The Jell-o chicken catfish bait swept the internet 3-4 years ago. It is still a contender for a bait option today?

I was using a little bigger chucks 1” cubes and caught a lot of Channel and Blue cat from 1 pounders to 36.5 pound blue off of it. Same thing, I got caught up with this bait and do the strawberry jello, 2 tablespoons of garlic powder, 2 teaspoon of Anise oil with 1-1.5 pounds of chicken breast or thighs… and it just works… I really don’t know why, but I never been skunked on the Brazos river on the north side of Lake Whitney in Texas… I cannot speak for city ponds and lakes…. Great video… I was thinking people just stopped talking about this for bait

I know the kids and Havasu go down in the channel at night and use this Jell-O chicken seems to work pretty good.

You need to do cherry jello chicken livers. Mix the dry mix with the blood and the livers and let it solidify in a cooler or fridge.
Do you still mix in garlic? Never tried it with chicken liver
@jessicawoods7283 don't need to thanks to the blood. Just make sure you're somewhere with sometime of current. Without a current, the bluegills in the area will eat it before the catfish can find it
It works I've caught fish, turtles on raw chicken by itself
I’ve used this bait for years and it’s never seemed to fail me

I fished pay lakes while back in Kentucky Strawberry, Anice, worked but bluegill was on the rise

I still use it and have good success i also have some other flavors of chicken that work well but fresh cut bait is still better

Come on over to Yuma & we'll try it out on the big cats in the Lower Colorado River & canals over here.
When you have bait left over you can grill it and have a great snack. Or cook the fish you catch on it and they are jello seasoned. Just don’t mix it up with exlax. You could RUN into a problem. Thanks for sharing. Waiting for the next video.

If the chkn caught a perch the way i see it anything caught on the perch cut bait counts per the chkn. It really should as any bait that catches another bait served its purpose esp a bait as awesome as perch well worth using the chkn

I don't know if it will work in your area but in Washington area there isn't a fish that can refuse Lemon Joy dish soap on the bait/ lures. It works on salmon, sturgeon, cats, trout, panfish and any other in the area. I am interested in knowing if it works there. I am planning a trip to Az. in the near future.
I fish the lower Hudson River at Sleepy Hollow NY, & I've had good success catching Channel & White Catfish using Strawberry Jello / Garlic Hot Dogs.

We still use jello chicken every time it still works well especially for the kitties, we have used it at that very same pond you're at and they went nuts for it.

It still works, but the Jell-O is just the gimmick part to it. Plain chicken works just as good. You don’t need to add Jell-O or Kool-Aid to it. There’s a guy on RUclips that did a one year experiment with it and the plain chicken caught a little bit more than Jell-O chicken.
But the coolaid is a binder and things stay on the hook
@@IEchuckie it does make the meat more firm but in my testing, it doesn’t increase your bite rate. I caught my PB blue cat on a piece of plain chicken.
I agree chicken does almost just as good. Jello makes it a bit tougher but not always necessary

I have a challenge for you catch 3 species out of red mountain park lake the fishing is so tuff there it would make a good video I'd love to se how you tackle the challenge
I use chicken all the time I don't even flavor it and don't always use breast use the cheaper everything from blue gill to bass catfish you name it I have caught. Catfish bite it more then others. Don't need a flavoring. Only problem I have is if turtles find you first you are done lol! Try not flavoring it I just cut it up before I go but it in bags in a cooler so it dont get to mushey otherwise the bite off to easy .Take sanitizer to use afterwards use each time you touch that chicken. Hot dogs work great also
Nice! Yea I know a few guys that use chicken only no flavor. I think it just depends on the day and body of water.

Yes but fairly rare ish
I still use jello chicken. Like you said, it is easy to make and use. Fish seem to love it. Why quit using it. Great fishing trip. Be blessed. My friend.

Koolaid does good, but doesn’t have the gelatin factor of jello

I have never tried jello chicken but I have tried cherry coolaid hotdogs at lake Havasu last year. Utube said it was good for catfish. I caught a 20 lb carp.😮

It typically only works at ponds and lakes. I caught one catfish on the river with it i have a video on my channel. But most people use strawberry kool aid, i add a little vanilla extract as well catfish love the alcohol

I know you go fishing with Porter. I mentioned to him the other day you guys need to try Gulf of Mexico shrimp. I'd get them In Minnesota. My biggest flat head from the Minnesota River was 61 pounds. My biggest blue cat was 58 pounds out of the Red River between Minnesota and North and South Dakota. We have caught small mouth bass, large mouth bass, walleyes, northern pike,, and cat fish. Carolina rig. Or on a bodder. I've gone with friends with 35 pounds of shrimp. Thinking if the fish don't bite we will have a shrimp cook out. We have never had a shrimp out. Don't purchase frozen. 🍤 Always buy fresh.

@@TheFishinMagician20 , when 5 people can catch 2,000 fish in 3 days it's rather inexpensive. And 1,000 of them are catfish that weight 25 to 60 pounds. Walleyes average 4 pounds go up to 8. The pike are 5 to 15 pounds. And 5 pound bass consistently. Get the smallest whole shrimp you can find. For this area and the size of fish you will encounter It will be worth it. When you go on the big resivours use the biggest you can find. 14 to 16 inches. Phoenix has to have a large Asian market. You will be absolutely surprised the selection these markets bring to your community. The one I would go to in Minnesota you could sell your catfish to them. You could purchase most any healthy native fish of Minnesota. This is on the Red River of the north. North and South Dakota border to Canada.
Question: whats the most catfish youve caught in one day that you can remember?
Most i got was 15 in a night, biggest was around 10 pounds... dont really know if thats good or not but i was pretty proud of it lol.

I don't use jello I use cherry Kool aid and have caught giant flathead and blue cats at this pay lake I fish once in awhile. My biggest is a 54 pound flathead and Ive caught several blues over 30 pounds on it as well.
