I had a technical issue, so if you see some audio syncing issues, I did my best to fix them, but It was kind of a nightmare to repair this episode after it broke. That's also why the show looks different, I just didn't have time to do camera switching after I fixed the audio sync issues. Sorry all.
I did not notice an issue, I loved the podcast, I think this is my second time watching but I enjoy the positive vibes and the insight :) I'm lookig forward to the next one.

1:47:25 On PC we're wise to the fact that physical media is just as volatile as digital media. I have a dozen EA games i cant (legally) install because they took the actiation servers offline preventing me from installing my two copies(i bought more copies of several games like Battlefield 2, 2142, and Battlefield Vietnam Redux as i thought the disks were bad)
The one thing you have to remember with laptops is that they use low power GPUs that are significantly less powerful than their desktop namesakes. Take that $4000 4090 laptop. Probably going to be slower than the 4070TI Super because it uses a higher binned version of that card, but limited to something like 135w rather than 200+w sometimes its slower than the 4070. For most people, totally, a 4070 laptop is going to be great for 1080p or 1440p with DLSS. I for one can confirm its not good enough for VR unless its a light application, or you're using eye tracking with foveated rendering. We tried to do this for one of our VR classes, the laptop was just not powerful enough for the Vive Pro2. so we built a small formfactor portable desktop for the instructor to take off campus. Fits in the same case, the only disadvantage is that you need a wireless keyboard like the lenovo trackoint 2 and a USB-C portable screen.
As a programmer I know how much time and effort these types of programs take. It has always bothered me that these guys/gals spend years on these apps and people won't spend $5 is kind of crazy and sad. These guys/gals will start these projects when they are kids but when they have years in and they have a family to take care of they have to start charging, boom! people will look for something else. Crazy! It's the reason why these projects don't last.
It's 💯 fan service and I'm here for it. 😂. When my partner saw Tifa she said " wow she's hot. " When did it become shameful for a guy to find attractive women attractive? 🤔.

Chrono Trigger was so far ahead of its time, that another legendary title's remake (or a rebirth?) uses the Dual Tech mechanics that makes us drop our jaws to the floor.
Great discussion! I've been on the fence about acquiring digital copies fo games on Playstation myself, and Steam seems fine for me, because I trust that I'll be able to put together a system that I can run those digital copies on, and I can retain digital copies of it myself, as opposed to PS Store which I can't retain the copies of the digital games, nor I can put together a system that can run those digital or even physical copies of the games to play on in the future
Trying to create a false equivalency between Hell Divers 2's micro-transactions and Diablo (4 or Immortal) is like saying you shouldn't complain about getting shot in the face if you're ok with getting punched in the arm. That said, great episode as always guys!
Yes yes it does, I’ve been playing FromSofts Gundam Unicorn on my PC because Armored Core 6 just didn’t seem like it was worth the buy. Haven’t regretted a second.
@patbateman69420 its in Japanese completely just use a translator or if you've watched the movies, it is the same story in game form. Game is pretty self-explanatory even if you don't translate, or just learn Japanese even better lol. One of the best Gundam games sadly it never made it to the USA. If you're looking for a good fighting game check out Gundam Boost EX series.
One of the things with steam is that all games that are removed from the store, are still available in your library. E.g."Lord of the rings war in the north" or "Marvel Ultimate Alliance". So to the question, are these going to be playable in 20 years? I do think they will :). I love steam
Another great podcast. Don’t know if you guys were aware of the virtual boy emulator for 3DS (red viper) lust releasing a working build this week. Really cool
Regarding physical games still needing to download, don't underestimate how long it can still take to read from blu-ray. Taking 3.5 hours to download 130 GB means you're downloading at just over 10 MB per second, or about 85 Mbps. That's pretty slow nowadays but I guess in Hawaii internet may not be that great. From what I can see online it looks like the PS5 and XSX both get to around 30 MB per second installing from disc, or about 240 Mbps. So even with a disc, you would still have sat there for over an hour. Actually since 130 GB doesn't fit on one disc, you'd have to swap discs. With a better internet connection of course downloading quickly wins out. My XSX usually downloads at 600-800 Mbps, so around three times as fast as it could have copied off a blu-ray.
Lenovo Legion Go doesnt support integer scaling? What method does it use when i put it in 800p? I thought it looked funkier than it should have at 800p

@2 no i've just been doing it on the desktop or in the lenovo OSD thanks for the advise but it kinda looks funkey compared to 1080p integer to 4K somehow both blockier, and blurrier at the same time. Would be nice if the lenovo OSD inclused an integer switch next to the FSR switch.

Shame about the audio issues at the start. But luckily it doesn't happen too long! I am glad Nvidia is improving, the control panel was in much need of an overhaul.
Something I think you might be missing is that games with fan service or the shonen battle content is aimed at teens with time energy and are horny as hell. They have the time the energy and the libido to enjoy these games for what they offer for as long as they offer it.

I have an RG556 coming in soon and I have till then to figure this all out...more power to you folks that can do it, respect. Not everyone can though, and that's sad.
I'd prefer to buy my games on physical media. But which media? PCs don't have cartridge slots, so we'd need triple or even quad layer Blueray for some of our games. Plus games are all buggy on release (well, a large number of them) so the physical media would be locked in to the buggy versions.
The difference is Helldivers 2 is a great game with an optional MTX store (with reasonable prices), while Diablo 4 feels like a MTX store (with awful prices) with an optional game attached.

Just plop in a dll file and I'm good
If an ancient version of Marvel v CapCom is eating sales of a new version, the new version obviously sucks. Killing the ancient version won't fix that.
