I’m having double jaw surgery on the 4th of May.. I’m 38 and I have an underbite/cross bite. I’ve had braces on for almost 4 years, it’s been a long journey! I never smile in public showing my teeth, I’ve always smiled with a closed mouth. It’s always been a gigantic insecurity of mine, I rarely go out In public and doing so has caused me to be super socially awkward. This is going to sound dramatic but I feel my life is about to change massively and I’m so ready for it! And I’m super happy for you Dora!
I had that exact same experience prior to surgery. You’re making the right choice! Your life IS about to change, not only in the physical aspect, but your quality of life is about to drastically improve as well. I’m a year post-op now: no longer do I fear smiling or showing my teeth, and no longer do I have to fear that I won’t be able to chew whatever food is set before me. I am so so excited for you, and glad to hear that you are excited too. I’m praying for you and your surgery tomorrow 🙏🏼 I hope everything goes smoothly and that your recovery will be speedy!
This has been so enlightening for me!! I am 13 days post op and so many things you are experiencing, I am experiencing too. Especially the driving part. God has kept me safe in my driving thus far too:) I'm glad I found this channel
Hi Dora!!! Your such an inspiration I’ve watched all your double jaw surgery videos and you have helped me sooooo much get ready for my double jaw surgery I’m having Thursday! Thankyou so much and I hope your doing better girl❤
I too just had a total jaw joint replacement and genioplasty and Lefort surgery done on 27th April 2023 and today I am 16 days post op and doing good so far still have a lot of Swelling and weakness though .
@@dorasdoublejawsurgeryjourney thank you so much I am doing good so far but still have a a pan and weakness and headache. Besides theatre everything is good.
@@dorasdoublejawsurgeryjourney if you don't mind me asking you are those braces attached with a wire to your teeth as my braces are attached with wire to my teeth and I have the exact same kind of braces just like you have it is not like those traditional braces these are somewhat different from those and even my rubber band snapped off from the left side while I was brushing teeth and I messaged my surgeon so he said it's okay no problem if you have only one side.
Am currently on recovery day 6 after my jaw surgery and it still pains alot and I also struggle to sleep elevated as well. Anyways I hope for the best for ur recovery
@@dorasdoublejawsurgeryjourney yes things have improved alot and it's been 6 weeks now since my surgery. My surgeon did tell me that I have to stick with soft foods and try to avoid solid food for another 3 months atleast so that my jaw can easily recover without any interruptions
Thank you so much for sharing, it takes a lot of courage and I appreciate that a lot. Since you're a year post surgery, do you still experience numbness or any problems with the feeling around your face/mouth?
Hi Guillermo, I actually don’t have any numbness except for one spot of my gum. It’s not bigger than a fingertip, and doesn’t bother me whatsoever (who needs to feel their gum anyway?). Other than that, I have found that everything has healed perfectly! My surgeon was so attentive and experienced, providing me with the best care and results. I couldn’t be happier!
Yes. I had mine done three weeks ago. First you will be on a liquid diet for two weeks. I have a blender so my food was anything that can be blended. Also the Ensures aren’t too bad. Also invest in a few ice packs. Use these to help the swelling. Also take very good care of the inside of your mouth to help promote healing. I was prescribed a mouth wash to use three times a day. Also I have a fat syringe that I use to rinse my mouth out in areas of the mouth that’s difficult to reach. Don’t be afraid to brush your teeth, but stay away from the gums until everything is completely healed.
Hi Max, my insurance was anthem blue cross and I believe they covered $30 of my office visits with my surgeon, and the entire cost of the surgery, besides $500 that we paid day-of. Every insurance company will differ in how much they pay, depending on their coverage policies and whether your surgery is deemed elective or not. I would definitely suggest calling your insurance to sort coverage costs out, lest you go into surgery and realize they don’t cover anything 😅 best of luck to you!
Hiiii I’m in day 21 please post more videos I’m scared of my chin and my lower jaw they look really big and wide my doctor said it’s from swelling I just need to know more about swelling every one is healing fast in RUclips I just need some one to hype me up 🥲
