@@aaronwarren7626 more then 20% of Hawaii's economy was generated due to tourism. It also employees thousands of natives. No one coming will do the island more harm then good at the current phase of time. Its population is too big to be self sustainable at the moment.

As someone who knows an unnecessary amount about Aerochrome and infrared photography, here are my guesses on what the secret aerochrome recreation is:
(1) A real infrared film stock - Unlikely since making new colour film emulsions is next to impossible. Only kodak really makes colour film anymore and their production line now uses IR cameras so it's impossible for them to make IR film.
(2) An infrared trichrome with B&W IR film - This leaves trichrome artefacts which aren't seen in these photos so this can't be it. It's a cool way to recreate Aerochrome with film tho
(3) A full spectrum digital camera with something like a Kolari Chrome filter - The most likely option, and the most practical way to take IR photos nowadays. It uses a digital camera with its IR cut filter removed and replaced with a special filter. Some post processing can then be done to swap the colour channels appropriately to give an authentic Aerochrome look.
i loved your video on recreating aerochrome - i agree with your third guess; a full spectrum digital file with really convincing editing to make it look like film
Note the lack of shutter sound when he shows those photos and the increased dynamic range compared to standard expired aerochrome.
I doubt it has anything to do with ir.
In some shoots with water you see reflections. Water doesnt reflekt ir
If this is the case I need Jason to make a video shooting it in black and white and figure out what pro mist I need to get and HIE simulation.
@@ChillmyLP water actually does reflect a bit of ir, if you look up other aerochrome photos you'll see a reflection of the trees in the water. the images look too authentic to be a simple colour swap (ie. green to pink), because that method wouldn't make skin yellow and turns things pink that shouldn't be

Can't wait for the reveal, it seemed like every time an aerochrome shot appeared, we didn't get the shutter for the camera that took the pic like we got for most of the shots done on the Contax. I wonder what he's shooting the secret aerochrome with

The best part about the abandon hotel was the minimal graffiti paint. You were able to get some of the best shots because of that. cool. All in all, a good video of what looked like a good trip.

I used Aerochrome when it was still fresh dated! I hated the results, I also used real BW colour filters. I was banned from the top process lab, because they ignored the RED warning I enclosed. My films great! Everybody after had Rem coating added!

That view from the Pali is pretty dope.Your pics are amazing, looks like you all had fun. Word to the wise, don't stay out shooting street in Waikiki too late at night, or walk around at 2AM with the leica in one hand and the 6x7 in the other as a blunt force object.
