I play this game on DS often. Highest floor I've gotten to is 20. And for everyone complaining about how slow the character walks, in Floor 2, defeat 2 Black Slimes and a Treasure Chest will appear. In this chest are Jet Boots, they speed his speed up a LOT.
@floz336 To use the pickax, just tap the square, circle, or x button to slash your sword while you're up against a wall. Make sure you're facing it. As to the other items, I may not have gotten too far into the game, but the other ones seem to take effect upon collecting them.
Wow, this is super old. x.x I think I have played this least once. You know what, I'm shocked they didn't make a Mystery Dungeon Series using Tower of DRUAGA. Seriously, it could work. Multiple character to play as and recruit, an amazing well written story, epic dungeons and towers to clear, Bosses galore, and of course the final area being Tower of DRUAGA with an epic final boss. WHY NOT MAKE IT NAMCO?! =(
Hold on... That little tune at 0:05 sounds exactly like one of the score pieces from Eternal Sonata! Namco must've decided to use it as a homage of sorts. Pretty neat.
@ZipZapZopTitania maybe the game's director wanted to expand the game, but was limited to 8-bits, so years later, the Druaga popped in his mind and said "hey, let's make an anime out of this 20 year old game". That's the only conclusion I can come to.
strike at them with a pickaxe, though in a later floor I believe you need the bronze pickaxe healthy (they'll break after set uses, the bronze one I think breaking after two uses)
If you're really interested, find NAMCO MUSEUM VOL.3 (Playstation) It has this game (Along with other classics) + Tower Of Druaga Hint Book. I beated this game many times too.
good, yet frustrating game, hard and cruel but yet little fun, but i was always yellin at the knight RUN DON'T WALK SLOW AS A SLOTH, when the wizards showed up, oh boy ._.
I watched the anime (due to hearing the name from Baten Kaitos) and then played this game afterwards. I must say, I actually prefer the game to the anime. It's surprisingly fun and addictive.
this game is a tough old bastard i got up to lvl 26 and my house lost power ooo i was so pissed that took alot of time to get that far up in the levels i guess forces unknown didnt want me to finish the game
I thought it was odd that this was an arcade game, but it felt like a long adventure game and would've taken forever at an arcade. Was it ported to a console excluding Namco Museum?
Baten Kaitos made me interested in getting this game for the Wii Arcade shit, but after I just saw IGN rape it with a 3.0, I don't think I'll be gettin' this after all. xP!!
OMG I HATE THIS GAME! I have it for the DS and I can't get past level 6! But I am trying to give it a chance to be fun! It just proves these old games totally devourerd a child's self-esteem!
One of the greatest games ever.
7:34 MVP award to that green slime that guarded the exit for a solid 15 seconds.
I literally have a thousand and one questions as to why he handled the stages the way he did
After a while the music fades out and you just here this hypnotizing spongebob esque walking noise. Then he stopped and I lol'd.
You freaking rock @ this game...
That dude must be having a nightmare! His legs flap like a pair of crazy drumsticks but he gets nowhere!

Nostalgic
And Game Studio, one of Namco's second-party developers, also developed the PC-Engine version, as well as The Quest of Ki.
must have took forever to make a anime out of this...... I WANT THIS GAME>:O

strike at them with a pickaxe, though in a later floor I believe you need the bronze pickaxe healthy (they'll break after set uses, the bronze one I think breaking after two uses)

@FullMetalAntonio Probably the reason I would always quit after losing the speed boots
I watched the anime (due to hearing the name from Baten Kaitos) and then played this game afterwards. I must say, I actually prefer the game to the anime. It's surprisingly fun and addictive.

Whoa.
@FullMetalAntonio There are jet boots
I thought it was odd that this was an arcade game, but it felt like a long adventure game and would've taken forever at an arcade. Was it ported to a console excluding Namco Museum?
@FullMetalAntonio without the speed-up boots, this game would be near unplayable.
Baten Kaitos made me interested in getting this game for the Wii Arcade shit, but after I just saw IGN rape it with a 3.0, I don't think I'll be gettin' this after all. xP!!
is it pac-man?XD.
