thanx for just posting it--this was a classic song and commercial that was on tv for years--graham kennedys faviurite band, when theY appeared on IMT,,GRAHAM ALWAYS TOLD THEM TO DO THIS NUMBER,AFTER THERE SONG-BEFORE A commercial break--thanks for posting--its a pity--we lost them early ,they were a real aussie talent..
The Hawking Brothers were the first group I ever saw live. It was either ‘74 or ‘75 at Bayside Shopping Centre at Frankston. A Friday night, I’m pretty sure. Russell and Alan were great and very kind to this star struck little boy who was by himself. And George was a character. They played what we knew as “the Benny Hill theme” as a request! I went on to become a full-time musician. Happy, innocent memories.
Does anyone have the version, "Melbourne Bitter beer is good, tastes the way a good beer should, and I reckon there's none better......and a country boy should know".
Hi Mat, Brendan McGrath here. It's been quite awhile since we've contacted one another. You would have my contact details with you. Are there any other Film clips of the Hawking Brothers in the archives anywhere? regards. Brendan

I recall my old man telling me that one of the Hawking Brothers died quite young, back in the '70s (?)
Russell died in 76 aged 45 and Alan died in 88 aged 55.
