Reminds me of the concept of Narrative Levels from the SCP Foundation. HOI4 is down 1 narrative level from us, same for fiction stories and such. The question is, are we in a Narrative Level? For Christians like myself, we believe so, we are living a narrative that was planned before existence existed. A narrative in which we make smaller narratives through fiction, and these lower narratives can have even lower narratives. Like a fictional story having more fictional stories inside it. In the HOI4 world, Ernest Hemingway probably writes For Whom The Bell Tolls, inspired by their version of the Spanish Civil War. So that's 2 narrative levels down from us.

I love the concept of the people in HOI4 living a sort of Groundhog Day. Over and over, living and dying, experiencing the war in different ways every time you play, and being reset the next time. Kinda horrible if you think about it that way. Also, being a gun nerd, the new props look FANTASTIC

I keep finding myself back here watching these hoi4 videos. You guys all made one hell of a team! Having both James Holland, and David Willey mixed in with the trademark satire of the channel, it was absolute genius! Loved the Churchill speech. Also, great fun to see James Holland and David Willey talking absolute nonsense with great seriosity. The idea of "lightning war" against the Siegfrid Line was pretty hillarious. And what is it? Doing nothing and waiting for heavy tanks to come in and bust their way through heavy defenses against Germany, which never built any heavy tanks, because why would they? Obviously, Adolf got accepted to arts academy so there is no "Wunderwaffe" guy around to come up with crazy demands like the "Maus". Then, you cannot finish, because the guy in the multiplayer playing the "land of the rising sun" has to go to bed. Really great writing and acting in this one.

So I was somewhat torn between praising the advert, praising the idea of main video, praising the props department of Squire Movie Productions LLC, praising Squire for getting James Holland to act in his movie, praising the clusterfuck (pardon my USAnian language) of Dunkirk Day when all out of sudden I have seen David Willey giving a straight faced description of Second Battle of Agincourt, that also had Archers taking part in it. Brilliant!
Ngl it's amazing how much effort went into this, I think you could have added more Easter eggs, for example something from the last dlc like Polish Cossack king or fino-Estonia.
True story! Hoi4 non historical focuses is a great thought experiment of what would have happened had world leaders during ww2 had no regard for reason, logic, history, or self preservation!
I love that around 12:41 squire’s voice over makes it sound like bill is talking about the British heavy tanks and yet as an alien capable of understanding German he is talking about breakfast and I think I heard something about the autobahn or “science fiction” as we call it since Germany was invaded in 1941 before it could be built because hitler was too busy designing a new panzer division template
