I have been driving trucks for nearly 26 years now and put almost 3 million miles behind the steering wheel. Diabetes is taking it all from me and the best part is i have a wonderful wife that has stood beside me the whole time. She is truly a proverbs 31: 10 woman. I will be hanging it up this weekend stepping out this truck this weekend for the last time and spending the rest of my life with my beautiful wife. God has been so good to me
God bless…prayers for you!
God bless you and your wife. My daddy was a truck driver.❤
Thank you for keeping the wheels rolling driver! As a CDL holder for 48 years now i have been everything from a company driver, owner operator, and small fleet owner so i really appreciate your years of dedication to a profession that doesnt often get much thanks. Just remember that you may leave trucking but it will never leave you!
What a lovely comment I appreciate you!
25 years this year. I can on imagine what it must feel like to be on the last trip. Hopefully I have a few more years in me yet. I've been fortunate to stay in good health so far but we never know what lies ahead.
Enjoy your remaining time with the ones you love, you have earned it.
My dad drove for over 40 years..mom and dad bought a 5th wheel trailer and traveled across North America after he retired. Mom's been gone 20 years, Dad for 15. We played this at,his interment with a dozen roses for Mom. Today is his birthday. Miss you, Dad❤ This song is for you❤❤❤
I'll see all ya I
My father was a trucker too.
My husband was a long-haul trucker for many years. You have got to really work hard on a marriage when one of you is gone that much. Thank God he’s local now. Most people have no idea what drivers sacrifice to bring product to the warehouse.
My Dads been driving over 50 years. Started at 12. Quit school. Went to Vietnam. Made it back. Got married, had 2 kids. Got cancer last year, beat it. Now he's back on the road headed out to California as I write this.
Eat only organic food, Himalayan Goji Juice, Thai-Go, Colloidal silver, Turmeric, Garlic...all gods medicine
God Bless every mile he drives. And God those who wait for his return.
Your Dad is hero! God Bless him!
God bless your Dad for his service and for his determination!
Sounds like a real man god bless him and you and your family
I lost me dad yesterday....he was a retired truck driver and his name is Charlie....we are playing this at his memorial service
I'm so sorry 💔 I'm a trucker we are all your family so wave at us and we will honk
Cindy E you will NEVER loose your dad , he is watching and waiting for the time you will meet again in heaven
Your dad was the heartbeat of America. He will always be with you. I know that it is hard, we lost our mom buck in Febuary, she passed away in a car accident. I would be lying if I told you that it got any easier, it doesn't. Just keep living, and remember your dad. Sounds like he was a good hardworking man.
Sorry for the loss of your father. I've been driving for 24 years. I'm in Florida headed home to Texas. This ride is for Charlie ...take care!
Prayers 😢💚
Talked with a guy at a truckstop who was on his last run over the road for 51 years. Had on a new pair of boots, and I seen him climb up in the cab, gave me a wave, and bumped the horn for me. He talked about how excited he was to get back to his wife and move out of the rig. He said he was going to give his rig to his youngest son who wants his own rig for his 28th birthday. Just an all around great guy.
I was a cashier, trucker came through my line with his wife. He was a little bent over from back pains, asking where pain reliever was. He said he and his wife been on the road. I told him Thank you. He said for what? I said for making sure deliveries were on time. The poor guy about choked. Then said Nobody ever said that to me before. Thank you. He bought his stuff and him and his wife were back on the road. I didn't mean to make him cry. I just wanted him to know I appreciated him for the job he does for us. May God Bless ...Thank you Thank God for you.
Thanks Julie .
I miss my husband everyday. But I know because of him and those like him America keeps going. Bless you for acknowling him.
I only drove for 8 years. Started at late age. I have nothing but ultimate respect for the Drivers who keep this Nation operating 24/7. Be safe out there and Thank you!!!
Truckers are so under appreciated! With out them our Country would be at a standstill! They are what keeps this country working! Needed even more with this Covid! God Bless them all!
👍
@@tterry1604 God bless ya!
On behalf of my brother who currently drives and my dad who drove for 40+ yrs. Thank you
To all truckers, May God ride with you.
As a driver I appreciate your support. It is a very unappreciated lifestyle. We leave our family, our home, and daily lives to stock the shelves. Unfortunately we are still looked at as being big slow and in the way of going nowhere fast. If only people knew just what it takes to be a driver, they might give us a little more room. But the unfortunate truth is as long as the shelves are full we are nothing more than a inconvenience
This song was recorded back when music was music,i was once a trucker and this song is one that sny trucker could relate with and actually dig
Who’s still listening to this in 2020!

Michael Derr well done my friend, now go enjoy life. Hopefully that ol road won’t be callin ya back.
My grandfather was Charlie Nile, him and Janet raised there children, and grandchildren. He came home and told us he meet her at a truck stop and she said she was going to write a song about him. He just laughed, we played it at his funeral! He was the greatest inspiration to being a better person than I can ever think of in my life!
Great story, bruh. She didn't write it.
@@stevenfagaly3810 correct! Gene and Paul Nelson wrote it
@@JoeHupp Yes, I asked Gene how he got the idea for the song. He said he had the idea to write a song about an 18 wheel truck driver. Then he tried to think of something else to go with it that had a number. He said he thought of 12 and got the idea for 12 roses. He made no mention of Kathy.
@@stevenfagaly3810 My understanding is it was actually based on a friend of hers.
I hope all of that is true...I believe it...Kathy caught a great story and converted it into a song for our times!
69 years old and still driving, 47 years behind the wheel.
That’s awesome best of luck to you and many blessings.

Not there yet but getting closer, 53 and 30 behind the wheel, still wearing jeans and cowboy boots like the old days.
Today’s the day! He has 391/2 years with UPS. I was his waitress in July 91 and went home with him in August 91. Married in Jan. 92. We’ve had 14 children to go with his first. Love this song and waited for the day it would be ours to play.
Thats awesome to hear I wish you peace and happiness in your golden years together.
This song is my brother Joey because he drives an eighteen wheeler
@MarcosBryant-mr7jw I love her voice and she seems to really care about the truckers, like I do!
That's beautiful! ❤
This is my theme song. I’ve spent 20 years on the road. Just a few more songs on the all night radio, and I will spend the rest of my life with the one that I love.
Thank you Brian
Doing that today myself. Had a good time while it lasted.
@@bicentensolI've got a couple more weeks left before I get to do that. Just two more trips then I'm done after 9 and a half years
I no longer drive a large car but I firmly believe if you drive one long enough that you will come to realize that God watches over you during the near misses. I remember several times when things could have turned tragic but did not. Any truck driver with any time driving will vouch for this. God bless yall truckers you earn every dollar that you get. Love this song. Thank you Mam.

Sure, we have near misses and close calls but it's down to your own skill and an occasional stroke of luck. Drove trucks for 40 years with no faith whatsoever and I'm still here to tell the tale. 🚚
@@grahamlive But, driving a truck will not save your soul on judgement day. That is the difference. Only Jesus Christ died on a cross to forgive us of our sins and all we have to do is believe and accept what he did for us on the cross to be saved.
Amen all glory to the Father
i vouch. was around 4 am on a dark highway, after i get fuel i’m hammering down in the left lane and there was a flipped over box truck with music instrument in the middle and left lane. was close to hitting him but missed him and almost smoked my breaks out. all the guys lights went out
This was country !! Wish I was 10 yrs old again working on cars with my dad.
You can say that again. The good old days. Totally different country and people, and I can't help but cry my eyes out at what we have lost.
I been driving 30 years now and I retire on Monday 26 June 2023. It's been good but I am 71 years old now and it's time to go.
Wish you well in your retirement. Hope you have many productive years. Ahaead.
Happy retirement hopefully you have enough left in your self to do things you want to do.
My utmost respect goes to our truck drivers who keep our country moving. Also, they just don't make em like Kathy anymore. Pure classic country music gold. A wonderful singer
Yes exactly.
Michael, you got it right on both of your statements. 👍 Thank you
Thank you.
You are so right.
They don’t make truckers like they used to either!
I'm not a trucker......but I retired today. Great song.....brought a bunch of tears to my eyes. Thanks Kathy Mattea.
Whatever truckers earn, it aint enough. God bless them all.
It's a nice song. I lost my Dad in September to Blood Cancer. In the comments I feel the same as the rest. Dad was a Mechanic on Offshore oil rigs in the Gulf. And He busted His back to give me and my Mother the best. He did His part now it's my turn to do mine. REST IN OUR LORD DEAREST DAD. 😢
God Bless you and your whole Family
I would like to dedicate this song to all of those tireless road warriors who drive all over America's roads and highways to deliver our goods and services to every corner of the USA and beyond. America would grind to a halt without our truck drivers! May the spirit of St. Christopher go with you.

She's a great singer and her music is timeless!!
Lovely comment,Hello grace how are you doing 👋👋👋
Very much timeless
This song reminds me about my wife. It was her favorite song before she lost the battling to cancer, I wish I could change the hands of time, I miss her smiles, she was always there for me and our lovely daughter, and I never miss a moment with her, life could be so unfair most times, there is some pain, I will cry in vain but won’t let you know how I will feel yes, I will miss you to the core! but some times i wonder why bad thing always happen to good people. She’s always in our hearts…
She also seems like a genuinely nice person as well.
That's Country........ Music from my time.... clean and honest.....
Not like the garbage they try to label as country nowadays. Cant stand it.
Absolutely
I love it she's wearing a George Strait shirt! Ronnie Milsap, Conway Twitty...all those guys. I miss their music played on the radio like it used to be.
Im in the wrong era
And tells a story while it’s at it
This brings back memories of my grandpa, who drove for 40 years. Gone are the days when two people got married and the woman stayed faithful and took care of the house and kids, no matter how long the man was away doing whatever it took to put food on the table, and was waiting on the front porch when her husband pulled in. You never see that with today's women. But when my grandpa died, he and my grandma had been happily married for 62 years. Sad that those days are gone....
Beautiful. I will remain faithful to my trucker

I really think the trucker who brings his love a dozen roses as a "thank you" for putting up with being alone so much, so often, is beautiful. She knows she'll get both him and a dozen roses. How sweet. They're just two kids in old bodies, holding hands like childhood sweethearts. They are.

Seen her live in London years ago, she was great.
Im lucky to live near Wisconsin Dells, which has the Crystal Grand Theater, as well as a local casino that gets country artists in quite a bit. I've gotten to see Neal McCoy, Clint Black, Gary Allan, Charley Pride, Scotty McCreery, LeAnn Rimes(before she went pop), Sawyer Brown, Diamond Rio, Ronnie Milsap, and a host of others. Thankfully, we have a lot of fairs too to go to. Im working my way through the list. Unfortunately some of them are dying off before I could see them, like Don Williams. It's why I'm trying to get to more older artists when they're in the area.
I lost one of my best friends on March 16th, 2024. She was a driver, as am I. We've both been in it long enough to be classified as ol' school drivers. We still use an Atlas, we did paper logs, and we ran manual trucks. We met only a few years ago, but our experience and experiences bonded us quickly. We talked for hours some days as we did our miles.
This song was played at her memorial service, and I was so emotional. I miss her dearly!!

We played this song as my family and I walked out of the Chapel when daddy passed away. 04-2009
When country music was still country music. And good.
Many of us in the beginning didn't see our families or go home for months. Showers were far between, laundry on the road had to be washed in shower rooms and hung to dry in the rig, little to no hot meals, etc. When ppl opened their eyes and realized how bad we all were suffering, ppl started to open their homes, farm lands, go throw drive thru or even cook us a hot meal. It took a crisis for ppl to realize how important we are but now that the crisis is down we become Nothing again. Yes we choose the life of a trucker, but just as everyone else we didn't know what was to come. There where days some of us drove 20hrs to get emergency medical loads across the country. The Federal government gave exemptions to the drivers hauling these loads.
I didnt see my family for almost 4 months, and ran multiple exempt loads. I only ask for a little more respect on the roads. I think that's all most drivers want.
I couldn’t imagine someone else singing this. She and it fit each other perfectly.
2024 and I'm still pushing those 18 wheels
God Bless you and be safe!

my daddy is a truck driver and one of my great uncle's was so I have a great love and a huge respect for truckers
Much respect for all the trucker's getting it done , we need those products !
Glück Auf . an Euch , Kollegen ! Ich bin Olaf , aus Deutschland. Gute 39 Jahre unterwegs , auf den Strassen , hier . Gute Fahrt , Kollegen!!!
I retired from truck driving about 11 yrs ago after 44 yrs. Now I spend my days with the one I've loved for 49 yrs
my dad always talked of his shipboard days in WWII and the trip to Japan that was cancelled with the end of the war. The other talk was that of family and his trucking. That Jimmy V6 screaming, the boss giving him one dollar for fuel for a load and he soundly rejected, the time a rock set the air valve open and he ran a load of tomatoes out of the ozarks without brakes, hugging the tight curves and finally making the straightaway to see family. Then out for another turn.......................god bless him and all hard working Americans................
I lost him 3 years ago to heart disease. It hadn’t been the same since. I guess it never will be. Christmas is next week. It wasn’t his favorite time of the year but he put up with all the celebrations because it was my favorite !!!!

Hello Mitchell.. how are you doing?
This song reminds me about my wife. It was her favorite song before she lost the battling to cancer, I wish I could change the hands of time, I miss her smiles, she was always there for me and our lovely daughter, and I never miss a moment with her, life could be so unfair most times, there is some pain, I will cry in vain but won’t let you know how I will feel yes, I will miss you to the core! but some times i wonder why bad thing always happen to good people. She’s always in our hearts.
This was my mom and dad's song we lost her to cancer he played this song it brings tears hearing it again. A few more miles pops and you will spend the rest your life with the one you love drive on trucker

I love this song. It reminds me of my brother who spent so many years behind the wheel of a truck. Now he and his sweet wife have retired and have bought a ford cargo van and are making it into a home on wheels to see this great land of ours at a slower pace and off the interstate.
Hello beautiful how are you doing today 👋🤗👋

Got 27 years in.. Have at least 12 more before I can hang it up. I love my rig. Love this life.. It gets hard some times by myself, .. Hot cup of coffee rolling the west Texas prairies and a big moon rising.. Its all good..
You may not know it but you're living my dream. I travel the highways but in a car and not as often as I'd like. I have thousands of miles under my tires but not nearly as many as I'd like. There is nothing like a hot cup of coffee and a sunrise on a new horizon. Safe travels and may us kindred spirits pass on the highways

My dad was a trucker. Born and raised on a small active dairy farm in Northern Illinois. He trucked for over 30 years before Coming back to the farm milking cows. I listen with a tear in my eye. I love him ever so much.
Hey how are you doing..?
@@drakehonest2 That was wrote on an old account (which I see is active still). Dad and I are doing good. They since retired from milking in an old stall barn. I milked on other small farms, was alive auctioneer, and became fully disabled as a strong decline in my health. About injured dad when he found out I had cancer.

Of the 1980's few country songs are as good as this one is!
How come they don't make country music like this any more? What happened to the great surge of commercial country music in the mid nineties= beautiful songs like this one by Kathy Mattea? Who put an end to it?
multicaruana Some country music association took over all the stations and found out that there are more profits in promoting certain artists over more. Many of my favorite artists got slashed and it became the Kenny Chesney, Tim McGraw, Toby Keith, and Keith Urban show, along with several others they favored. Kenny Chesney was popular with the college aged crowd. Tim McGraw was popular with slightly older people. Keith Urban I think was strictly used as a vice to get country music into Australia. Toby Keith used to appeal to patriotic conservatives until he switched political sides. They kept around Brooks and Dunn and Alan Jackson for the old school country people. They kept added Taylor Swift to get more kids into it. They brought in Carrie Underwood since she had the popularity to win American Idol. Now, some of these artists have fallen to the wayside as even worse artists like Jason Aldean and Luke Bryan have even better potential to appeal to the lowest common denominator. Money killed country. The late 80s and early 90s absorbed the people that matured out of classic rock and then they got older and country needed to attract younger people with lower expectations. We just need to get classic country stations to play this older stuff and get away from the new trash being played.
Scott89878 You are right, of course, but for a brief period from the mid eighties to the late nineties neo-traditionalism in country music had its day, and it sold well. It's all over now , sad to say.
I think what we saw here with the change in country is an example of what happens when all the competition is eliminated in the market, when one set of radio gods control everything. It's probably a symptom of the greater amount of corporations in bed with politicians that went on the rise around 2000.
Scott89878 Also, possibly that people of my age demographic were buying progressive country music back then- many of us in our late thirties and early forties were looking for a folk. country sound; but you are undoubtedly correct in your assessment.
I frequently see young people at the college I work at listen to classic rock. I heard the tail end of classic rock as a kid when my dad listened to it. These kids would not have heard it when it was current and instead second hand. A genera died and but the music didn't and hence the abundance of classic rock stations. We need to get classic country stations rolling, since the current country is complete trash. I can only count on one hand how many songs I like at the end of a year. For awhile, being up north in Michigan, I could listen to the Canadian country station and their local artists produced music that was good through the 2000s but around 2010 it started sounding like the US country stations.
