So true! Country music has lost its way. All the men sound alike with a fake southern accent, singing about Friday or Saturday night, a beer and a pickup truck. Don’t get me wrong, all these subjects have a place in music but let’s get real! Song after song, singer after singer it’s the same. Where is the real talent? Where is the heartfelt realness? Where is country music?
@@toddgiaro7657 I had a friend in college ('68-'72) that said he could sum up every country song ever written in one phrase: "My true love found a new love!" LOL
@@dcinpa1134 You know the joke, right? What do you get when you play a country and western record backwards? You get your truck back, you get your dog back, you get your wife back.
@@toddgiaro7657 Very True Todd, I think that is by design, too. I think the powers that be are pushing these weak songs, which have no heart and soul to them, no meaning, no feelings, nothing at all. Like you said, they'll talk about trucks, and drinking beer, partying, and girls... just a bunch of meaningless excess. Not that there's anything wrong with happy, uplifting music, but the country music of today is just frivolous. There's nothing deep or spiritual about it. They're trying to make us all into shallow consumers who just shut our minds off and never think critically about anything. They don't want us to question their narratives or disobey their constant manipulation of society so they can shape it in whatever image they want, which is a weak, brainless, malleable populace who serves the elites and doesn't rock the boat.
Something about this song. It gets my toes tapping like no other. Hard to believe an Ivy League educated Jersey girl can be so connected to music that by all rights SHOULD be foreign to her. But I swear listening to and watching her I'd swear she was a born in the bayou coonass. I've heard it said that music is music, and any musician can cross genres. I guess Mary Chapin Carpenter proves that point.
Tom Swinburn I found something very interesting. Now I don't have a hearing problem (just some ringing). So I just made a playlist (TINNITUS RELIEF). If you have any ringing in the ears from listening to loud music over the years - it might help you. But first, set your computer volume at half way (and the volume on the videos at half way). Then listen (with a decent headphone set) through the playlist (I only went about half way through with the 12,000 Hz video) and so far at 40 min. the ringing is just starting to come back (but still lower than before I did this). Note, before I found this channel with these videos, I did go online to a site called online tone generator - and I could hear up to approximately 11,000 Hz. So I thought it best to listen to videos above 11,000 Hz (you may have to listen to other videos though with your test results). Note, the tone generator on that site goes up too fast (so you will have to start / stop it a lot to pinpoint where your hearing ends). And note, I did not listen to music today - before I did this. So I started the playlist at my "ringing baseline." Try it - if needed.
The whole world needs more exposure to Cajun music. I'm in the process of getting the whole BeauSoleil discography right now. I think Bayou Boogie is my favorite album of theirs so far.
@@carycomic1954 zydeco music is slightly different and uses different instruments. Zydeco typically uses a piano accordion versus the Cajun accordion, for example. There’s also musicians that do a mix of the two called Zyde-Cajun. This is Cajun music.

Man M.C.C. is one of the coolest people on the music channel.
This song got me through my very painful recovery just after my brain surgery back in 1992
Hello.kelly how are you doing 👋👋
I'm from Minnesota and my late grandma used to play accordion like this. That's why I'll always love this kind of country
OUTCLASSES all!. Why don't we hear such songs anymore?Talent dried up! Take a million bows lady!
Thank You Mary Chapin Carpenter for all your great music!
You never let anyone down and your personal life is just that...…..
Really great to hear from NZ . We McDonald's love Bonnie Scotland and Angus . You really do cheer things up , through these character breeding tiimes . Thanks .
❤️🧡💛
Real, honest music with no gimmicks, no toxic lyrics, no street filth lingo, & no autotune. Just real TALENT "On Loan From Goddddddd!" ❤️
Well stated!!
Heard your song Mary chapin carpenter right after my brain surgery back in 92 that is why I am still here your song inspired me
She has written so many beautiful songs.
This Lady has the voice of a Cajun Angel, I grew up in Baton Rouge, I miss it every time I listen to her. 🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺
Need to hear this song daily. 😊
+Tom Swinburn checkout my zydeco-cajun music list.

Thanks. I'll do it.
Tom Swinburn Cool.

Luckily no tinnitus for me. (yet) But I'll keep your prescription in mind.
Aieeeee!!! Wonderful memories of 1982 in New Orleans with my sweet JO!
I wasn't the biggest MCC fan back in the day, but man this song has always been fun.
I remember listening to this song after going through brain surgery it was one of the things that helped me to get through the intense pain
She pulls out all the stops on this song, & gets everyone up & dancing & cheering.
Being from Lafayette, I’ve also been so proud to hear this song with BeauSoleil playing authentic Cajun music! Ayyyyeeeeee!!!
The whole world needs more exposure to Cajun music. I'm in the process of getting the whole BeauSoleil discography right now. I think Bayou Boogie is my favorite album of theirs so far.
I'm not 100% sure. But, isn't this branch of c/w also known as zydeco music?
@@carycomic1954 zydeco music is slightly different and uses different instruments. Zydeco typically uses a piano accordion versus the Cajun accordion, for example. There’s also musicians that do a mix of the two called Zyde-Cajun. This is Cajun music.
I’ve loved her since childhood, and I’ve got no desire to stop!!
That sawing on the fiddle lifts my heart.
Love this video love seeing these people enjoying a good time smiling laughing even the band is enjoying the moment and Mary Chapin Carpenter is to dancing a jig & laughing while she sings ! Beautiful just simply beautiful !
One of my favorites. I’m sitting here in quarantine listening to her entire playlist!🥰
Listened to her also when this pandemic began
MCC rabbit hole in quarantine

Now THATS real Country
Saw this on holiday in the US in 91 and so blown away my husband and I went to Louisiana in 92 and I came back pregnant so all due to this performance
+Anne Lewis-Lloyd Wow - lol.
Happy for you!
Lol 😉
BEST SONG RECOMMENDATION I’VE EVER HEARD!
Fantastic story! I love my state!
Love this and she's so feisty.
Great performance by Mary here, although personally I think she is at her best doing more reflective stuff - her songwriting skills are demonstrated on the many wonderful albums she has made and is still making. She is in my opinion one of the best lyricists in country music.
She is shining bright on this song because Michael Doucet is playing music behind her and she is giving respect to cajun music and Beausoleil.
He deserves some major attention here since she sings about the 'fiddle' and he adds so much of the 'cajun flavor' to the song instrumentally!
Michael Doucet and his band have been to our Folk Festival in Richmond, Va. at least twice in the last 10 years and they are AMAZING! No one can sit still when they play :)
We need to hear more from HER!! Great Voice!! Great Smile!!! Great Country Artist....they don't make 'em like that any more!!! This is an excellent song for her, .....and an excellent music video!!! What a Talent!!!🤠🤠🤠🤠🤠🤠❤❤❤❤❤😁😁😁😁
One of my favorite songs ,68 years old and I heard a bunch of them.
Now this real music, we are from Louisiana, thanks Mary Carpenter
I'm only 10 years old and I know these songs word by word
you are a very intelligent and discerning individual.
You got really good taste, Lily!
If you never hear this song again you'll be singing it randomly when you're 50
Good for you!! This kind of music is THE BEST hands down
What can i say? Love the song, love her energy, love this lady.
I'm a Brit who just loves everything country but this has got to be the best ever!
whatever you call it, cajun, country who cares, this song and MCC are amazing I just play it over and over cant get enough.
Greatly done. Cajun music is sweet to the ear even by us Northern Quebecois.
This gal could put more moods to music than most have ever done.
This song ALWAYS makes me smile. It never fails.
I think what I love about this video is the mix of the audience...ages, sizes, beauty....all just having fun.
