I would imagine Paul Davis who wrote the song and who was friends of Dan Seals, got the two together to do the song. Paul Davis also had a #1 hit duet with Marie Osmond in 1986, a year after Meet me in Montana.
You are so right! I think this song came out in the 70s and I was born in 71', back during that time we traveled a lot so it would come on the radio and I would sing it through, every word! It was an instant favorite, always has been!!
A masterpiece. It is hard to believe that this song is 35 years old (1985-2020), but then those who understand music know that a good song is as good as gold. It glitters forever.
We are losing top country singers every now and then. But their legacy still lives on. Their best country songs will always linger in the bottom of our hearts for all time to come. Many happy memories.... All rest in peace! Thanks. Jack Tege. Papua New Guinea.
Rest In Peace Dan Seals, your are truly missed. You are one of my top country singers of all time and this fabulous song you've duet with Marie Osmond, cant find any better than this. You two did an incredible and fabulous song together.
Legendary country singers like Dan Seals and Marie Osmond sings real country songs that reflects countryside in which we live. The song " meet me in montana video " tells it all. As a country song lover, the song really touches my heart. So as others who loved this video clip. Thanks ! Jack Tege, Papua New Guinea.
So sorry Dan Seals is no longer with us. THIS is one beautiful piece of music. The writers should have received the highest award available for scripting this one. Rest Dan, this music was, and is, so beautiful....Thank you and Marie.
We lost Dan Seals way to soon. We are fortunate to have the wonderful songs he sang. We miss you Dan Seals and wish you were still here on earth. Rest in peace knowing your fans still love you and your music.
This song has been one of my VERY favorites since I first heard it in 1985??? I have never heard a better version of this son than what these two do...clear voices, right on key and on time....and with a smile.
How many remember before Dan Seals decided to sing Country, he was England Dan to his singing partner John Ford Coley? Hard to believe it's been 14 years since he passed away. I still listen to all of his music.
I gotta tell you, I think I loved Marie Osmond since I was 14 (I'm 60) and got to meet her in '94. Just beautiful and gracious. My wife of 34 years looks like her and I can't help but to think I fell for her a little bit, because of Marie.
This is truly one of the most amazing songs ever written and Dan Seals is one of the most underrated country singers ever,he is truly a legend in his own times.
I saw him at a west Virginia fair and I was probably 10 and he came off the stage and said he was thrilled I was so young and knew every word he sang..he pulled out a 20 dollar bill and signed it for me..to this day I still have it!! He is one of the legends !!
Me: born in 1979. 1985: song comes out. I am 6. But I will not discover the song until 2001 2001: I am 22. I instantly fall in love with the song. I had never heard of Dan Seals. But I knew who England Dan was. It was this song that made me research and learn they were one in the same. A jaw breaker moment for me Also to give you an idea in retrospect. I knew of the Donnie and Marie show in the 90s. Watched it after school sometimes. But I had no idea of their music careers until after the fact. Also in 2001: at age 22, they both look on the older side to me. (Obviously) 2020: I am 41 and they look so young!! How'd that happen? P.S. Dan is 37 in this video...and now I'm 41, that explains everything.
Forever one of my biggest regrets was not being born sooner. Dan Seals, God bless his soul, was one of the top five best voices of country music. His effortless vocals were magic and his songs will forever be with me. One of the greats taken too soon.
If ever I loved a performance of such a sweet song, this is it. I am thankful to listen to the music than Dan Seals and Marie Osmond have made for us. Love them both!

The ultimate 80s country song! Really takes me back to my childhood sitting in the back of my dad's '79 Chevy hearing this on CISN Country 103.9fm Edmonton! I remember what a monster hit it was at the time, always on the radio! Ahh! What memories!!😊❤R.I.P. DAN SEALS!

I still love this song! I've met a lot of musicians in my radio career, but meeting Dan Seals is the only time I went all fan girl and got tongue-tied and rambled on about how much I love his music and how excited I was to meet him. He was so tall it felt like I had to look straight up to see his face. What a presence.
I seen Donny and Marie in Concert at least a half a dozen times in the 80's, but this duet is by far my favorite! I lived in Montana for a few years and this song just speaks to my soul. I'd love to go back once my partner is retired. He has been fortunate enough to travel the world, but Montana has never been on his map.
I just got back to Montana after 32 years after my career ended back East and I cried when I crossed the Wyoming Montana border ! My wife and daughter love it here ! Hope you come back !
@@strikeeagle6871 That is awesome! I hope you can relax now with your family and enjoy those big Montana sky's. I'm in the desert and although it has its own beauty, it just doesn't compare. One of my fondest memories of my time in Montana was feeding the Clydesdales sugar cubes on my way home from school. There was a bar next to a Free store back in the day. I would go to the free store on the way home from school. Pick up a toy or stuffed animal and then I'd walk over to the bar, climb up on the counter where the bar tender would hand me 3-5 sugar cubes and I'd go feed the horses.
