- The guys from tree2mydoor.com/ guide you through how to make sloe gin!
After spotting lots of Sloe berries growing on Blackthorn bushes at the side of the company car park Joe and Gareth set off on a mission to pick Sloe Berries to make two large jars of Sloe Gin for Christmas. Gareth gets some advice from his Grandfather who gave a big time-saving tip... to freeze the Sloe berries overnight instead of individually piercing the Sloes.
Our Sloe Gin recipe is:
300g of Sloe's
100g of Castor sugar
750ml of Gin
Plus you will need:
A freezer bag and use of a freezer
Two sterilized jars
A cool dark cupboard
You can buy Blackthorn trees as gifts on the Tree2mydoor website here - tree2mydoor.co...
Spotted lots of Sloes whilst walking our dog in a field near our home today. We're definitely going to try this. Thank you for making it look easy peasy 😃🍷
Yes, they do have small stones in them. If you make sloe gin very slowly, they can add add an almond-like flavour to the sloe gin.
A better way to have an almond flavoured tipple is to use the leaves in the Spring, harvest them when the new shoots are about 3 to 4 inches long. The French make a liquer called Vin de Epin, thorn wine. Wine, white or red, I prefer white, eau de vie, sugar and leaves.
best accent!
Must work British Railway services
No sugar?
Do they have stones in there ?
poor guy...i just took some kilos from a bush of sloes here in a park in Berlin...every branch has a kilo of fruits and i think there is still hmmm 30 kilo waiting for people who love sloe gin or other things...
I want your job; you don't leave for work until after 1040am and the boss lets you brew sloe gin on the premises. Where do I sign?
Very low sugar content. Not saying that's wrong but may need to sweeten at the end of the process. My main gripe is that despite picking in an urban environment they didn't appear to even wash them during the process.
I don't think hitting them is a good idea, they don't need to be mush to infuse.
I don't want sloe gin I want fast gin
