Very very good and objective review. I own a 2022 M4 but initially I truly thought the AMG would have edged out the BMW. If they used the same tires the AMG would have been much closer. Thumbs up!
Nice review! AMG needs a set of aftermarket wheels and track tires. Daily driving my base model sedan I’m running Continental SportContact 6, 19x9.5 with 265/35ZR19 on the front and 20x11 with 295/30ZR20 on the rear. (I had to pull the rear fender.) Wheels and tires make an incredible difference. Also stock turbos can hit 21psi with a retune. And the non-S is 300 pounds lighter. More competitive on the track. I’ve heard 315/325 fit the rear of the coupe with no modification to the body. Supercar 3R are the best choice for track tires on C63. I like C63 sedan better than the coupe. For a coupe the AMG GT C looks like a great choice.
I just fitted Michelin PS 4S 305/30R20 on my C63 S Coupe with no issue at all. It fills the rear guards beautifully and it looks much nicer from the back with the pumped out fat tyres.

The M4 really is incredible. And in the hands of a pro.... Wow! But from no angle is it even remotely attractive. So I'd plump for the Alfa or a Cayman, or walk (yes it is that ugly). Great video!!!!!!!!!

mk6 R review as I've heard too many mk6r vs mk7r arguments about which one is the better drivers car(assuming they had equal power of course), and you're a real driver😂 Would be good to see how the old C63 goes against the newer C63s you just reviewed, people say they were great on track back in the day
My previous car was a C63 w205 LCI and I just acquired an M4 competion ( yet on the break in period). In my opinion,The M4 is a better daily driver: more roomy,more confortable when driving in comfort. The AT way more sweet and enough speedy for me.
I may be wrong, but it looks like your turn-ins to the apex is slightly early which slows you down a bit. It's hard to judge with the given camera angles. And will the race setting in AMG be quicker even if more uncomfortable?
I noticed that myself also... I did the fastest lap on my first lap in both cars, and only have 4 timed laps to get a time. I would have tried different lines on the other laps but couldn't beat that time, which may be due to tyre temp or track temp as well. So you are literally seeing my first ever flying lap in both cars, which means I may not have gotten the lines perfect.
What did GR Rallye get on this track. Love to see that.😎 PS M4comp BMW nailed the car when your sat in it. Just close your eyes when walking past the grill.😉
@@Dave-gl6jb Last time I was out at QR running the sprint circuit there were a few heavily modified Yaris’. The best of running a mid 57. So I’d assume a standard Rallye would run around a 59ish.
If you want a track car you buy a BMW. However, tyres are everything on a track and the C63 was at a huge disadvantage on the Supersport tyres. They're not even the best road tyre from Michelin. It's the first thing I changed when I bought my C63 S Coupe (to 305/30R20 Pilot Sport 4S on the rear). The next thing is to remove the electronic LSD and replace it with a mechanical LSD that doesn't rely on electrical inputs, causing delay and confusion as to what it needs to be doing. The BMW is also a track focused car. It has a carbon roof, whereas the Mercedes has a massive glass sunroof at the highest point of the car, which is the worst place to add weight for stable cornering dynamics. If anyone knows a good fabricator that can replace the glass roof with a carbon piece please let me know.
Special tyres for track days 'Cup2' vs the worst sports tyres 'pilot super sport'. For me comparison hasn't done as it should be done on track. I drive bmw m2 on pilot sport 4s btw.
I drive my M2 with Sport Cup 2's. Even during winter. It's not as bad as people say. Michelin pays careful attention to tire balance on Cup 2's. They why they need so little in the way of wheel weights and balancing. Going 120 MPH with no wheel vibration is amazing.
Love the C63 S so much. Sounds and looks fantastic. It requires more driving skill than the digital M4. Was shocked at how little skill it took to drive the new M3/M4. Then there is the hideous looks of the M4. Crazy that they weigh the same despite the BMW being down two cylinders
What about the new M4 that is so digital that the C63s isn't? The AMG has just as much traction control settings as the M4 does. The performance and the weight of the new M4 comes down to all the structural and chassis improvement they've done on the car which has nothing to do with the weight of the engine.
The Mercedes is long in the tooth and the BMW is fresh. The results speak for themselves. On styling, the BMW grill is polarizing for sure. It looks good on the M4 GT3 race car however.
If you love comparing lap times then you clearly love to bench race and think that's what is always going to happen. I would rather choose a car with soul and character that is remembered years later then just laptimes.

c63s is like a real hotrod, BIG bad monstrous engine, small car and the m3 is just a safe sporty car. different purposes i know, but still. i wish bmw would be more risky. im a bmw guy, but the merc's are getting better and better (even tho they claim no more v8s lol) edit: + that bmw is absolutely HIDEOUS its awful. makes me sad every time i see them .

To my knowledge M4 comp comes in AWD but can be configured RWD… not sure which one you guys had never less I feel you could’ve gone faster in the M4

I don’t think they’ve tracked the Rallye edition yet but the standard GR Yaris clocked a 1:01.59
