    Chris Harris produces extremely high quality and factual reviews highlighting nearly every aspect of the car in 20 minutes, and we get the viewing pleasure of power slides on a track. What are Top Gear doing? A 20 minute video of used Peugeots bumbling around like idiots. Don't get me wrong I love Top Gear as much as the next guy, but why does it take them over a year to produce a new series and Chris is banging out fantastic videos on a regular basis? Chris Harris > Top Gear

    • @happydug

      I love Top Gear as well but it costs well over $15 million an episode since it's so big. Like you I was been disappointed with the Peugeot episode, even more so the tease with the big three hypercar's in studio and no track times.

      I really love Top Gear as well but i agree with you, the work they have been doing is disapointing, i mean that cover they did with the La Ferrari for exemple, was just pittyful you can see that there is a lot of montage and lots of shakky camera efect to make it look like the car is going fast when it clearly wasn´t. And their review are getting just lazy.Never the less it is a great show with lots of different cars, fantastic places and guests. But using James May own words, it just doesn´t give me the fizz anymore. If Chris had the budget they have it would be awesome im sure of it :D Ps: Just my opinion though.

      I have to admit that I haven't really liked Top Gear much for years. Three old guys falling over and being stupid on purpose isn't funny in my books. However I have to say that last two episodes have been excellent (s22e04&05).
      Up to 7th season they were both entertaining AND funny. Altough the first season was a bit silly at points. Fe the 911 vs V8 Vantage vs M6 on the isle of man was just absolutely fantastic. I really doubt that it would cost too much to have 2-3 episodes per season of actual car stuff. And also go little bit in the details (like fe the excellent Carrera GT review).

      its not bad, it actually sounds good. and it doesn't come in the speaker all the time. if I put the window open it sounds awesome , no fake noise. drive one before judging . inline 6 has been a benchmark for M cars. coz they don't need v8 to go fast unlike AMG and RS.

    Man we will miss this V8 biturbo. I own a FY18 w205 c63s (the last with no OPF) and I can 100% agree with Chris, I picked the AMG over an M3 F80, just the sound and the soul of the car is different.
    And I have been (and still I am) a BMW guys (I have E and F series of different BMW) but this AMG will be remembered as the last V8 of its saloon class.
    What a shame where are we going…(just have a look to the sales figures of the new AMG C63S hybrid…).
    I will kept my old v8 as far as I can.

    Awesome video Chris! And beautiful filming by Neil as well! I'd prefer the coupe but I think I'd take it over the M3 for sure. The more muscle car personality of the AMG appeals to me, and I think the interior is a lot more attractive to look at. Keep up the great work!

      I don't know man, to me the screen to frame ratio on the iPad style nav is way off.. Mucho frame for the amount of screen :/
      In a couple years it'll look even more out of place and outdated, plus the way it's stuck on there, it's kind of hard to ignore lol
      Other than that yeah it's beautiful inside

      Look, iPad mini screen aside (not the biggest fan of that), the interior of this new C is one of the most spectacular places to spend your time - it's a baby S class for god sakes! The attention to detail, materials and manufacturing tolerances leave even Audi for dead. BMW has never been about interiors, and it shows.

    Chris Harris on Cars
    I absolutely love it when you geek out on cars. For example at 8:44 when you take a look at all of the parts under the skin and explain them quite thoroughly. The 918 video comes to mind.
    I realize that this isnt possible on all video shoots. However, if you can manage to put scenes like this in more videos that would be fantastic.
    Also, have you and Neil thought about uploading in 60 fps? Imo, that would take your videos to the next level. Imagine the shot at 19:47 at 60 fps!?!
    Thanks for all the hard work, love all the vids!

      Last time I checked the M3/M4 were playing engine noise thru speakers and not some crazy megaphones, so it must be converted into a digital format one way or another, so no matter how you slice it, THAT'S NOT 'real sound' at all.....

    • @akadanielmaia
      @akadanielmaia 9 лет назад +3

      I'm not sure how the aftermarket exhaust industry feel about the C63 optional exhaust system. I mean, they will probably have to take those things out anyway. I don't know if it will worth the price or if the aftermarket will come with a better sounding exhaust. Notice how the exhaust system starts from the upper side of the engine on the new C63 too.

      Hey Nick, you're a stylish guy, don't you think that the nav screen on the merc is a bit terrible?
      I mean the frame is huge compared to the screen which makes it look old and sort of cheap to my eyes even though the car is new and the rest of the interior is beautiful.
      It's really difficult to ignore also due to the way it's positioned on the dash.

    • @davidoh1868
      @davidoh1868 9 лет назад +11

      You'll appreciate the more somber look when you don't get pulled over as much, its a bit of a sleeper, the joy of blending in and yet still having a live grenade under your right foot is alot of fun, but be in no doubt more aggressive body work is coming in the form of special editions and packages but you'll have to pay to play... You'd know this if you understood the game which is the modern car industry...

    • @RobbieKhan
      @RobbieKhan 9 лет назад +4

      David Oh I drive an M3 anyway and have yet to get pulled over once, and that looks like it's going fast standing still!
      To be honest it's personal preference. Merc have pulled an E39 with this new C63. It's elegant looking but has hints of what lies beneath whereas the M3 shows its power from all angles and it stands out compared to the other 3 series models .
      Still, my money will always go on the body design and aggressive looks without going all WRX :p
      I don't need to understand any "game", I'm not an Anorak, I'm a regular driver a and car enthusiast, I know what others like me have always preferred and even Chris mentions about the body design in this video early on.

    • @davidoh1868
      @davidoh1868 9 лет назад +2

      Well thats where we differ I believe the bmw looks worse than a wrx, the new m3 cannot be called a viable performance car anymore because hatchbacks and shopping carts are beating on tracks..
      The sad truth is the m3 has been metropetroualized into a shadow of its former glory trying too hard looks wise so it ends up looking like a a kinder garden class designed it and failing to back up those "looks" with a bespoke engine or improved dynamics over lets say the M1 1 series or even the m235i ...
      The Alpina's are better cars and their diesel version ya thats right I said diesel version is viewed as a better car than the M, only 1 tenth off to 60mph btw , and it costs less, too my eyes it is a beautiful classy car with rip snorting performance ..
      And you really do need too understand this game cause you clearly are a victim of it. Always wait if you want the best an auto maker can do, case in point GT3rs 4.0 and Gt4 end of life cycle specials.. Ferrari , lambo they all do it .. The smart money is put in those cars...
      Btw I have a 2011 Sti sedan in cocaine white for my winter car a few other toys for summer lolol But I'm in Canada so sti's are as common as cat shit here lolol

    I don't have a problem with the engine (how can I after all the things you said) but I have a massive problem with the looks. The previous C was the best-looking C ever. Now they just made a small S-Class. And while the S is a great car, I'd like the C to differentiate a little. Solely because of that I'd get the M3. Other than than, a great video as usual. Very thorough.

  • @Speednote10

    Regarding the drifting, I think it's refreshing to see a review without drifts once in a while. It's more exciting for me to see a Speciale or Huayra going around a track at 10/10 instead of drifting around every corner like a rebuilt 240sx.
    When it comes to cars like a C63 though, it can be nice to see the a** go out since it's "just" a fast C-class.
    I do however understand if Mr.Harris likes to trash tires in every single car he gets his hands on when he doesn't have to worry about picking up the bill, I mean who wouldn't =)

    Great video as usual, its great to see that not all manufacturers are taking the heart out of these new cars due to new laws with emissions, and this car really gives you hope that they continue to make cars like this. The way this car looks does it for me if it looked to aggressive then people would expect much more of it for the wrong reasons. And I like the idea of looking around trying to work out what's making that awesome racket.
    Keep up the sideways action

    Why do manufacturers use electric steering? Is is lighter or more reliable or something?

    • @hyperlogos
      @hyperlogos 9 лет назад +19

      It's lighter and it uses less engine power

    • @josj15
      @josj15 9 лет назад +6

      and it makes the car easier to drive for non purists that can actually pay MSRP for the car brand new, then guys like me who plan to buy these cars years from now 2nd hand when they go down in value complain in the comments because mercedes is catering to a set of people that buy these things to be seen at the mall and at the nightclub and could care less about real driving dynamics. shame really

    • @daugbret
      @daugbret 9 лет назад +1

      Another advantage is that it can be programmed. It seems they're using it to make the steering very heavy at center, so it's effortless to drive in a straight line, but have maximum feedback while steering. That's been my experience, but I'm sure some electric steering isn't as well designed as the versions I've driven.

      Agreed, but the AMG engineers recently hinted at the fact it can push closer to 700+ HP when asked about it (their response was an enthusiastic grin when grilled over HP figures around the 650+ mark).
      As I see it, they are more interest in torque at this point, and with the new AMG GT, they don't want to bury the old SLS in shame. First revision of this engine should be interesting. I know Audi are doing some crazy things with their hot V TTV8, and the guys at AMG are fucking nuts.

      It should not but it must since we have to lower emissions. Claimed is 33 but i guess 25mpg is more the truth that's better than many 4/5 cylinder cars with 200-250hp 10 years ago with a V8 and 500hp+.

      Why the fuck would you want to do that on your own in the first place? This is the reason why America has such a twisted look on german cars. They want everything to be simple and not move the fuck on. If you want a 6L supercharged engine on your luxury sedan then go American instead of acting like babies and bashing other cars you won't or can even buy, Jeez.

    I think it looks fantastically expensive! And I'm not one to like or dislike a cars "face", but I think the current merc lights and grill are lovely too. It's not aggressive, but who the hell likes an aggressive person anyway? They're almost always just dicks with "wee-man" syndrome.
    I'm not interested in "small" saloons, but I'd have a c63 long before an m3. The styling is much more what I'd want in a grown up sports saloon. The m3 is a bit "guy in his late 30s in a nightclub". And AMG, as ever, know how to make a proper engine.
