Those resolutions are only scaled resolutions. So choosing 1080 doesn’t change the true resolution of the display, only the sizing of everything. Choose resolutions in that menu based on how you want things to be scaled. It will still be the same true resolution of the display either way.
Hi, I had several bad experience with other chinese brans monitor that was supposed to be IPS and 178° viewing angles but look more like an old 2K LCD How good are viewing angles on this panel? Thanks
I've Gram Plus 2022 version with a 16" macbook m1. It supports 2500x1600 and 1280x800 natively. Resolutions provide either too big fonts or too small fonts. You can select resolutions in-between. But they are not supported somehow, resulting in bad image quality.
After you plug in the monitor and the Macbook detects it, have you tried going to the Apple > System Settings > Displays and tried changing the Text Size to be either Default or a larger size?
This is the same display that's used in the LG Gram 16 laptop which is designed with Windows users in mind, Windows handles fractional display scaling much better than MacOS or Linux so it's not an issue in that situation. If you're using a Macbook you will have a better experience with a 15" 1080p or 4k external monitor.
May I ask how good the display quality on this is? I'm a graphic designer and looking for a secondary display for my MacBook on the go. Is the quality of the display comparable to the MBP's retina display by any chance or slightly worse or slightly better? I'm honestly not sure what to expect for $200 as that's how much replacement MBP display's cost.
I've been watching your content for a while, great work. I look at a lot of pdf files and codes, I have mac m1 16 inch and 27 inch qhd monitor, I'm considering 2nd monitor for vertical use which is qhd or higher resolution monitor, I tried 27 inch monitor in vertical mode, but it's too big for vertical use, I'm stuck between this Lg gram view or 24 inch QHD monitor for vertical use, which one would you recommend?
16 and 24 is a huge difference. I think it depends on your desk size and how much space you’d prefer. I haven’t tried any 24-inch monitors yet. But if you go with the LG Gram I know it’ll be great. Whether it’ll be too small would be up to you. If you find it almost perfect, then I would consider 17-18” portable monitor
I don’t think it can. You can try making the lg display as primary display to see if the controls work. If not, there’s a 3rd party app called Monitor Control. I haven’t used it myself so if you try it, please let me know
I received the LG gram+view monitor. I'm puzzled. The cover appears to connect differently with mine compared to this video. When covering the screen, the cover connects magnetically to the SIDE of the monitor. And when used to support the monitor in landscape orientation it doesnt connect along the whole of the bottom (like in this video), only a fraction of the bottom. Basically it looks like the cover folds along a different orientation. This wouldnt be the end of the world, but its a shoddy fit - when used to cover the screen, the top right corner of the monitor is exposed slightly, while the cover overhangs the bottom right corner of the monitor slightly. I'm in UK. 16MR70 Series.
That’s very interesting, have you tried placing the cover in a different position ? Sometimes I feel like the way I have it isn’t right 😅 lol or maybe there’s a difference in models depending on country/region
Just got mine today, same experience. It looks as though they either changed the cover or the UK got a different model. There are also actually magnets which allows the cover to hold the monitor hortizontally, you just gonna need to line it up centrally with the “chin” side closet to the desk. It doesn’t feel particularly supported though, I’d much rather the style shown in this video.
@@SimonLYW Yeah mine doesnt feel well supported either. Has even come away from the stand on occasion. Not the best magnets in the world. It really feels like a beta product. I could do with investing in a new stand to hold the monitor, ideally a bit higher up for better ergonomics, but suspect not many options for that…
@@FIREWOLFTECH have seen the LG ultrafine monitor 24' , thats ok but just still too big for what i need, looks like that monitor can adjust brighness and sound direct from the apple keyboard, would this do the same, or would it be independant brighness and volume on the LG Gram 16 monitor itself?, thanks for the usb c reply cheers
I have the latter. The folio case connects to the SIDE of the monitor rather than the bottom (as i've seen in some reviews), so suspect thats one difference.
Nice vid. Do you know what the new revision brings?
can you use this monitor for samsung dex?

Is it possible to adjust the brightness of this portable monitor from macbook using keyboard shortcuts like (ctrl + F1) or (ctrl + F2) ?

Just received mine now and exactly the same! (UK) very disappointed if I'm honest, just doesn't sit right. Did you get any resolution to this? thanks
You didn't shows us if it works on portrait mode
It’ll work on portrait using your computers display settings. I’ll try to keep that in mind for future portable monitors
could this be used with the new mac mini m2pro
Yes you can, all you need is a single USB C cable 🔥

Can it be linked with Central unité ?
What is that ?

my screen lights up and then powers down - any ideas?
What are you connecting it with ?
The USB-C cable it came with
It works with my old laptop so it must be some setting I don’t know about

I just got one, would not work with my 2023 MacBook Pro Max. It did not come with a stand nor a USB - C cable. Just sent it back.
If it only had a better stand....
