I am not big on malls, I hardly shop in them though there is one right next door to my house. Two Rivers is a huge mall but I don't think it's the best. Village Market is homely, almost boutique like, lively and busier. Westgate is very modern and Sarit is probably the most famous of all since it's been in existence since 1983! Malls are jam packed on weekends especially Sundays and during festive seasons. Other malls that are worth mentioning are The Hub, Garden city, Imaara mall.
Walking in the malls improves one’s overall health. Benefits: less aches and pains on joints due to excess weight. Improves blood sugar uptake by the cells and improve insulin utilization. This improve blood sugar. Improve stamina. Better night sleep. Less colds and shorter cold symptoms duration. Improve leg muscle and thus improve circulation. Socializing. More smiling thus improves mood. Relaxation, etc. One does not have to pay to be indoors while utilizing one’s feet to improve one’s health. Most people who live long lives never lift a dumb bell, never run across treadmill, never engage with the stair-masters. However, they use their legs, if it is intact, to take many short walking trips or one long-distance trip. They climb dams, hills, mountains, and travel down valleys. They carry baskets, bags, sacks with food or materials. They spent time tending to plants. They meet up with their neighbors, friends, and strangers. Therefore, malls should be utilized for other activities besides shopping. Get your daily exercise in a safe, air-conditioned, senses-stimulating environment. The Malls off a free space to stretch one’s legs
@@mandyb6414 This maybe true in the West but not in Kenya/Africa. We generally walk long distances everyday since driving is still not a necessity here and people are constantly moving trying to eke out a living. Malls are also generally expensive compared to thrift markets, local stores and markets. Malls tend to cater more to the upper middle class Kenyans, foreigners etc.

@@TravelCheckIns If you have the stomach for a bit of chaos, check BBS mall in Eastleigh as well. Eastleigh is a paradise for anything and everything at a bargain. Fun fact, it has the widest circulation of money in Kenya outside of CBD. It's a city within a city.
We were wondering why the malls are often so crowded here in Nairobi and learned they are a prime location for family fun. We’ve visited a few malls in Kenya, but this one stands out as the BEST. What do you think? Let us know where you are (US, Africa, etc.), what’s your favorite mall and why?
I think everyone has their preference. May I suggest you check out the Village Market and Westgate mall, the HUB and make your choice. Truth be told they're all cool places to hang out if one has the time, and they're family friendly. If you've noticed, many establishments in Kenya are family friendly. That’s a good question. We haven’t done any furniture shopping yet as our place is fully furnished. We’ve only scouted out small kitchen appliances so far and those seem to be in line with America’s prices. I did watch one video on RUclips where a young lady was furniture shopping and the prices she showed for furniture I would buy was close to what you’d pay at RoomsToGo or Haverty’s.
@@TravelCheckIns For best bargains just have furniture made by local artisans, you see them showing their work on major roads. For kitchen appliances you can try Kamukunji just outside downtown Nairobi where utensils are very affordable since they are stocked in plenty. China Square and Panda Mart (Chinese stores) are also a good hunting place.

I love that idea. Many kids are out of school right now, but this may be an option for the coming year. A friend of ours has children in private school and they are very strict about even parents visiting.

There are many forex bureaus, no worries
Of course!! Just so you know that the American dollar is basically the global currency. You are good when you have the US dollar.
There is a forex exchange at the airport. You can convert your dollars to shillings which will be easier to use as you walk around.
