I use it on my face daily, keeps it hydrated and plumped. My coarse, thick, curly hair loves it! And it also cured a skin fungus I had. Great to eat if you have gastritis. Aloe is a wonderful plant.
I have a small Aloe Vera as a little house plant. It said on it that it wasn’t fit for human consumption but I’m guessing I could still use it for skincare in a pinch lol I tend to have a bottle of Aloe Vera gel (like 99%+ purity) at home at all times though in case of sunburns or other skin issues. In 2006 when I got really severely sunburnt (probably areas of 2nd degree burns even) I used Aloe Vera gel to protect and soothe my skin while it healed, and it helped a lot! I did make an appointment with my local clinic at the time but they didn’t really do anything as they didn’t see me continuously and hence missed when I looked the worst, so I just stuck with the Aloe Vera to heal up again and it worked really well, unless you know how badly burnt I was that time, you can’t really tell by just looking at the areas of skin today. I just have a bit of more freckles on the affected areas and some areas have a visual textural change but it’s all getting better over time too as the years go by. Oh, and if you have issues with cold sores, applying some Aloe Vera gel and letting the gel dry on it, is more effective than any of the designated, over priced cold sore remedies that you can get, along with it being natural so feels less disgusting should you accidentally get it in your mouth. I’m not a huge fan of eating Aloe Vera, but sometimes I can buy a drink that has tiny pieces of the Aloe Vera in it and that can be really tasty, but things like Aloe Vera juice from some health store is no bueno taste wise...
Whenever I have a bad day, all I have to do is sit down and watch your videos Emmy. You have a sense of humor and such a calming aura at the same time. I love it!
Emmy is my spirit person... if ever there was such a thing. There’s just something with her that makes me think that if we were to ever meet, we’d be instant BFFs. The vibe she gives off is so contagious. I love her little reactions that’s similar to a child who easily gets happy at little things. So happy to discover this channel (I’ve only been watching her videos for a few months now)
I’m salivating. Aloe Vera, sugar cane and blackstrap molasses are my top 3 for sources of iron as I have favism. The gel helps my skin from burns for Lupus. My plant died during the freeze here in Texas unfortunately. It looked similar after growing it 6 years. Hopefully I can replace soon. I find it sooo tasty.
I’ve blended aloe and used it as a hair mask. It works WONDERS! I let it sit for about half an hour, then washed it out with normal shampoo and conditioner. It made my hair so soft!
We love aloe in our house! We usually cut the aloe into big chunks after removing the peel. Then boil the aloe for about 5-7 minutes in boiling water, remove and put into a jar. Add honey and refrigerate. Consume the next day. Usually this removes the slime and pungent taste and it will be just like the store bought aloe!
we used to have an aloe plant! we used the gel inside to help keep my dog comfortable as possible when she got very old and started having health issues. usually she hated when we checked on her mouth, but when it was to rub aloe on her sore gums, she was suddenly very cooperative, lol
My mother plants aloe veras at her yard and I remember as a kid I fell and scraped my knee, so she plucked out a small leaf and scrubbed the gel on my wound after running it under running water. It felt good and the wound healed up pretty fast with little scabbing.
I used aloe vera gel from a leaf of a plant I was growing on some deep cuts on my palms that I got when I fell onto sharp gravel. The cuts stopped hurting immediately and healed completely without any scarring.
What my grandma used to do was she would squeeze the aloe vera out into a jar and add rubbing alcohol and use that to treat aches and pains. There's probably a few more things in there but that's what I remember
We used these fresh plants to soothe our sunburns after swimming for hours. That and cold, wet black tea bags work great. Aloe works a built better than tea though. You could use aloe based gel but fresh is best. They look like ice cubes in the yogurt.
This just reminds me of this bottled water you can get here in the uk. You can get the normal spring water or the flavoured which is strawberry, but they both have chunks of Aloe in them. It tasted really nice with the strawberry flavour. Almost took ok the flavour in a way
Oh my, how I would love to try one of these out in raw, natural form! I love Aloe! We have Aloe Vera drinks here with little chunks of gel floating in the juice, and I personally adore them. That is the closest I've ever came to trying it out. And for summer I have an Aloe Vera gel bottle sitting in my fridge, I can attest it's very good for burnt skin, soothing and cooling. I would love to make myself a face mask with pure gel.
My mother would always grow aloe in her garden in Southern California and when I would get a wound she would break a small piece off and apply it to my wound. It would heal up so quickly! Very good for healing wounds;)
Omg I was just searching through your videos last week to see if you did a video on aloe Vera because I bought one to try as well! I’ll have to try your yoghurt and maple syrup dessert.
This was sooooo satisfying to watch!!! There’s just something about a gelatinous substance that really brings me joy lol! What’s that smell??” 👃🏻🪴🌵👃🏻🌵🪴👃🏻🌵🪴👃🏻🌵🪴
Are these large leaves the same type as the small ones and they just got bigger because they were grown a different way, or are they actually a different type? I've only ever seen the small ones. I didn't know they could get so huge. I've always had tons of small aloe plants growing in pots, and growing up, my family always used them to treat burns of all kinds. It's especially nice if you put it in the refrigerator to chill it first, if you're going to use it for that. I didn't know people ate it until only a few years ago.
I used to keep a bottle of aloe gel in the fridge for sunburns. Feels great once you get past the 1st shock of cold on sunburned skin. After that its very soothing and cooling.
I keep aloe plant for wounds and burns. Have saved many people from spending time in ER from burns. Never eaten it though. Can give ppl the runs... never realized stinks like arm pits lol. I am allergic to latex so will be careful if I ever need it. Did not realize has latex properties!! Thank you
You should get one of these plants! They grow themselves others from the same plant (don't know the technical term); a friend gave me one and not only it's huge now but many others have grown out of the main one. And they give amazing flowers!
As someone who grew up with a lot of aloe, it's great for your hair, skin, sunburns, also if you get a really bad burn the best thing to do is to slice the aloe down the middle (so you have two halves, and remove the spines) then put in a Ziploc bag in the freezer and save it for when you need it
I never tire of the fruity fruit song on Emmy's videos. We had aloe growing outside always. It's like a must have for any household. Nothing better for any sort of burn. And you don't have to mess with it at all. Just be sure it's not in a place that gets tons of water or too much shade and you'll have one plant then after a couple years a forest of it.
my favorite way to have aloe is in drinks.. i usually buy premade stuff but the basic concept is just, you get a glass of grape juice or pineapple juice or mango juice and add a bunch of aloe cubes. its a little like bubble tea, but as a fruit juice that you can keep in your fridge?? my favorite one is the pineapple!!! SUPER refreshing on a hot day, and very hydrating after a work out, too!
I grow Aloe plants and use the leaves for sunburns all the time.I also drink it in a drink made by OKF its amazing you drink it and it has little pieces in it.....
Yes, it's quite good for sunburns and minor burns in general. My grandmother keeps an aloe vera plant for just that purpose. I've never noticed the smell though, it may well be plant size or maturity dependent: my grandmothers plants were about the size of a finger and not much longer than one. I'll wager the smell is caused by butyric acid which has sort of a B.O. or a rancid butter smell fwiw.
I have a garden and a few containers full of them! They are so darn useful. But I've honestly only used it straight from the plant since i was younger, and very sunburnt (right when we first moved here to the Florida Keys!) but beware using and getting the juices on your clothes. It'll turn brown/red and it stains and stinks🪴✌💚
OMG, you describing the smell of aloe as like BO really made my day 🤣 My brother went through a phase of drinking something that was made with aloe and I always said it smelled like BO, he looked at me like I was insane lol.
I live in Jamaica where it’s multipurposed. You can use it in your hair for cleanse and strength. You can use it on your skin as it helps with sun burn. You can eat it raw as well use it in your smoothies.
Love Aloe Vera! I’d no clue it had natural latex, until I put aloe straight from the plant on my face and felt SUPER itchy, and then broke out in splotches - as long as I rinse the aloin, I don’t get itchy. Turns out, I also react mildly to other things with latex, like bandaids too. Thinking I may have a slight latex allergy.
I often suffer from indigestion and aloe vera water is an excellent way to soothe it. You can also get it in capsule form and it can help tremendously!
My parents always had aloe plants on the porch next to other potted plants. Whenever we got a sun burn, we'd take one spine off and use it, so I am very familiar with that aloe smell. We ate aloe, although, as an adult I learned that people do eat it or blend it up and drunk it, but I couldn't imagine doing that (knowing how it smells). Not sure if I will ever try eating it this way, but I could imagine adding precut aloe to a smoothie. What fun watching Emmy cut aloe open for the first time, though. :)
This was my weight loss secret years ago! Every single morning for about 2 months I ate aloe Vera with chia seeds sprinkled on top and also went on a vegan diet. Lost about 20 pounds.
We had a large aloe near our wood burning stove growing up. Loading wood for the night, as a kid, I always burned my wrist or arm. We just broke a tip off a stalk and squeezed the gel onto the burns. The stalk would close healing itself. Unbelievably I have not a single scar from some pretty bad burns!
Emz babe I totally have this growing in my backyard... and I live in the coldest states of Australia!! I didn’t even know this wasn’t a thing in the states! Great for sunburn & yummm in a drink!
Oh I love aloe! In my country, we often find aloe sold in small chunks soaked in thin fragrant sweet syrup. Its so cool and refreshing! Maybe you can soaked it in sugar syrup first Emmy.. Thank you for always delivering great contents :)
I have a giant aloe plant in a huge pot here in MI. We put it outside every summer and it just keeps getting bigger. It spawns like MAD too. Right now it's probably got between 30-40 baby plants I need to remove in the coming weeks before it gets too hot. I had no idea you could just soak the latex part away. Good to know. I've always been hesitant to do much with the plants I don't re-pot coz the smell is so awful (it's even worse when the leaf has "died").
Fascinating. All my life I have been aware of & used alone, even drunk I the juice & never known that if you just remove the slime, you have lovely benign flavored soft textured delicious soluble fiber.
In Malaysia and Singapore, we eat it with syrup and lime juice to give it flavour and mask the bitterness. But it's commonly included in store bought fruit juice like apple. I make my own moisturiser and anti-inflamatory gel by blending the flesh. Needed to be kept in refrigerator or it will go bad.
I love Aloe Vera. In my house is a must to have Aloe plants because is so healthy, it helps me a lot with my dermatitis and I love to eat it with yoghurt too!
I used to have an ENORMOUS aloe plant (I had to split it 4 times!) and I was always bummed that it had all this yellow goo inside when I would try to use it for skincare. I never knew it needed to be rinsed! My mom is one of those "aloe heals all" folks, but I guess I never noticed her rinse or drain her aloe before using it. Now I know! Thanks!
I never knew you had to rinse aloe to eat eat it!! I had a beautiful big aloe plant for years and I was so disappointed when I tried to eat it but I might just try to grow another another one now that I know to rinse before eating!
My poor big aloe plant died in the Texas snow storm. I’m so so sad. However, I’m getting some new pups from it. Those are the babies that come from it. Yay!
I've known people who use "bitters" when they're sick!! but it wasnt aloe they used, its the orange or aromatic liquor bitters that are used in cocktails and they put some of that in soda water to feel better. Weird coincidence even though they're two different remedies for feeling sick!!

@@marybutler9250 aloe is used to treat sunburns, redheads are known for burning easily
I also use it to stop sunburn, it works great!
@@marybutler9250 No we do not 😂😂💚
No joke lol. I love aloe from May to October !
I love it!
The sound of the rain in this video is so lovely. I’m almost falling asleep 😂
Yay! I'm glad you liked it. 🌧
Your attitude and approach to things is so fun 😄 I adore your videos, they remind me of my mother when I was young and even now ❤️
I think it’s so nice to hear you explain and talk about things! you put things really nicely
Who knew that aloe cutting would be so satisfying to watch.
I love being called a beautiful lovely makes me feel fuzzy 🙈
I-IS THAT A DEMON SLAYER REFERENCE?!
@@remonemo123 I- HOW DID U KNOW SKSKSK 😳
we used to have an aloe plant! we used the gel inside to help keep my dog comfortable as possible when she got very old and started having health issues. usually she hated when we checked on her mouth, but when it was to rub aloe on her sore gums, she was suddenly very cooperative, lol
My mother used to have a bunch of aloe plants when I was a kid. When someone got a sunburn she'd skin it and slide it around the burn.
I really needed to hear that fruity fruits theme song today 🤕 Thanks Emmy 💫
Of course. I'm glad it brightened your day. :)
Emmy, who is blessed with no BO of her own (as she's #humble-bragged a couple times now 😄), finds so much delight in aloe BO 😂😂😂
Almost took ok the flavour in a way
The armenian market next to my house sells aloe juice and its sooo good. I love the little bits of aloe pulp in it :)
My advice is to read the nutrition facts, that stuff is loaded with sugar.
I've been using this stuff. I peel it and use a potato masher to make it into gel as best I can, then mix it with honey.
Really great for the skin...
I visit the Syracuse area of New York a lot and they have a style of pizza called Utica pie I think it’s something you should try to make :)
What’s that smell??”

As someone who grew up with a lot of aloe, it's great for your hair, skin, sunburns, also if you get a really bad burn the best thing to do is to slice the aloe down the middle (so you have two halves, and remove the spines) then put in a Ziploc bag in the freezer and save it for when you need it
Yes! I’ve been missing Fruity Fruits so much!
I've never seen anyone get so excited about the smell of B O ☺️ Luv yu x
OMG, you describing the smell of aloe as like BO really made my day 🤣
My brother went through a phase of drinking something that was made with aloe and I always said it smelled like BO, he looked at me like I was insane lol.
I live in Jamaica where it’s multipurposed. You can use it in your hair for cleanse and strength. You can use it on your skin as it helps with sun burn. You can eat it raw as well use it in your smoothies.
Yes I love aloe vera for healing burns or tattoos & helping constipation. . there is a mango aloe drink thats soo good
I drink aloe juice all the time for acid reflux and it definitely tastes like grape juice. Love that stuff
You can also puree it and freeze it into ice cubes and use that on sunburns!
I often suffer from indigestion and aloe vera water is an excellent way to soothe it. You can also get it in capsule form and it can help tremendously!
I was just binge watching Emmys videos and am so HYPED ABOUT THIS ONE
I have bad eczema at times and we use fresh aloe on it. just cut and rub against the sore. It helps dry and soothe it
It is the best for burns of all kinds. just slice it and squeeze out the "gel" and smooth it on the burn. No blisters and quicker healing.
Yeah and if you stick that stalk in soil after using it for burn it grows!
Emz babe I totally have this growing in my backyard... and I live in the coldest states of Australia!!
I didn’t even know this wasn’t a thing in the states!
Great for sunburn & yummm in a drink!
Okay, now I know why I loathed the aloe I tried. I didn't know about the yellow slime! Thanks, Emmy. I learn so much from you.
Aloe drinks are my favorite!! It’s so refreshing especially during the summer.
I haven’t watched the video yet but I know it going to be amazing! I love it when Emmy posts ☺️💗
Now I know! Thanks!
I love learning about awesome things through your videos TY
Emmy did it bother your stomach or intestines later? Does washing take care of that issues?
She is just so fun to watch. Very informative
Yay!
I do not want a repeat of that...🤦🏼♀️
@@kimclark6696 ~ Me either! It was terrible!
As a kid my mom would have to eat fresh aloe whenever she was sick. Her and her siblings called them "bitters".
I've known people who use "bitters" when they're sick!! but it wasnt aloe they used, its the orange or aromatic liquor bitters that are used in cocktails and they put some of that in soda water to feel better. Weird coincidence even though they're two different remedies for feeling sick!!
