With the two screws in (drain and vent screws) there really isn’t a way to quickly check the level other than pulling out the vent screw and seeing if a little fluid spills out and quickly reinsert the screw. I change my fluid every season, it’s cheap insurance to make sure I don’t have any condensation or any other issues that will show in the fluid.
