This is actually a cover of a 1964 song from Motown girls group Martha & the Vandellas. Bowie and Jagger recorded it for the 1985 charity concert Live Aid which gathered dozens of internationally renowned artists both in the US and the UK. This performance is considered by many as the most cheesiest thing both Bowie and and Jagger did, but I think it actually fits perfectly the 80's and its sparkly and uninhibited state of mind... 'Had to be there at the time to fully appreciate, I'm afraid 😆 !

I'm so behind! HA! I was thinking about the same thing as one of the comments you read. This was one of the weirdest things that I wanted to see more of! Never knew this existed but loved it! Just fun! Then my odd brain went to them singing so close together/face to face.....what if one had bad breath? (the things that pop into your head 🙃)

Sometimes it's good to have a song just for the fun of it! Even better when it's for charity. Thanks for the reaction, Hap. 💕

Oh thank you for this Easter surprise today HAP 🥰🙋🏻‍♀️. As someone mentioned in the comments already, this cover was made for Live Aid. Bob Geldof, who organized the event, originally envisioned Jagger and Bowie singing this song together via satellite while one of them was in London and the other in Philadelphia, when he realized the feed delay would make it impossible. So they shot a video instead and showed it at both locations. As far as I know they showed it in London after the legendary Queen performance. According to Mick Jagger, they recorded it in just two takes without giving it too much thought. Isn't it amazing what the result can be when artists of this caliber get together just for fun. Such a great and carefree tune🤩🙋🏻‍♀️. Yeah Queen and David Bowie with „Under Pressure“ and I was also thinking about Freddie and MJ „There Must Be More To Life Than This“ and „State Of Shock“…

BTW. this song was covered by several artists like Van Halen, The Who, Phil Collins and The Struts to name but a few. Maybe that’s the reason you’ve already heard it somewhere ☺️🙋🏻‍♀️.

This wasn't too bad for something they threw together in one night. For charity and they did good. A cover of the song by Martha and Vandellas from the 60s.

Lololol, living proof even the big names can do something where they don't take themselves seriously.

What I always liked about this video is David Bowie showing his funny side (which was even more evident in his "Blue Jean" video) while you kind of expect it from Mick Jagger. Not their best musical work in my opinion but it did serve the purpose at the time

Does it help to know Marvin Gaye co-wrote this song in 1964? But these two move it as far away from that 60s Motown sound of Martha & the Vandellas as possible. lol

THIS , for some reason , opened up Ruthless People (a 1986 ZAZ film with cinematography by Twister director Jan De Bont , practically the ONLY time ZAZ and Jan De Bont worked together)
The people behind Airplane! (Flying High! in Australia , Japan , Phillipines , Africa , Netherlands and UK) really did use this BEFORE Ruthless People (the one that had the screw on the poster)

Martha and the Vandelles did the original. For some reason I want to say that it was in one of the Sister Act movies. Not sure about that. I've slept since then.

This vid has always been a bit ridiculous, but since I saw the version without music I simply lose my shit now. The no-music version is here on You Tube, 100% recommended 😂😂😂
