All Cure songs have a killer bass line. My wife surprised me by taking me to the Cure concert at Madison Square Garden in June. I was out of my mind. Great concert They haven't lost a step. When it was over Robert Smith walked around the stage to thank his fans. Nobody left despite the lights being on. We gave him a 10-minute standing ovation. He was visibly moved. He's an amazing talent and a truly nice guy. Huge Cure fan for life. LIsten to as much as you can.

Live performances are well worth checking out for The Cure: A Forest live at Werchter Festival Belgium 1982 as Robert Smith was just starting to change his style as was their sound, then 10:15 on a Saturday Night live 1979 to see their punk to post-punk origins. Smith wrote the song when he was 16.
For Bela Lugosi's dead, start with Live at Riverside (BBC show) but eventually check out the full 9 minute version. This is Bauhaus' first recorded song that spawed a new genre, goth,, though they have many styles and find that association too limiting. Bauhaus' creativity level is on par with Radiohead & Bowie (Bowie was a big influence and they were in a movie together, with Catherine Deneuve & Susan Sarandon). That's even before you consider guitarist/writer/vocalist/saxophonist's other bands: Tones on Tail & Love and Rockets.

Man, I listened to The Cure pretty much nonstop for like a year in my angsty teen years. Though I am no longer an angsty teen, they still have a top place in my playlists. Thanks for doing this one, it's among their best on one of their best albums.

One of the greatest bands ever. They started in the 70s. You need to get into their early stuff from their first 4 albums…songs like A Forest, Boys Don’t Cry, Primary, 10:15 Saturday Night, Hanging Garden, Play For Today…you’ll see how much of a creative band they really are.

Was wondering if we would get Halloween themed songs lol. Love The Cure!!! I know this sound is probably a bit of a culture shock to you guys. What can we say?...the 80's had it all. This was quite gothic in terms of music at the time. It was almost metalheads vs. Goth music for a moment lol. Eh... I loved it all.

I have seen hundreds of your reactions Jay & Amber, this one may be my favorite reaction! Great choice for Halloween, not only a great song, but a fantastic music video to go along with it. I suggested this several times, from what I see the song did not disappoint! Their early songs are great, "Boys Don't Cry" and "A Forest" are among their best, and we fans demand they play both at each concert. Happy Halloween!

The Cure is a great group. They are so different, and that is what makes them so great. This is a great song too, my favorite will always be Close to Me, but they have a long list of good songs. As for London Calling, no that's The Clash, both UK groups, but very different. The Cure song's you've reacted to previously were Friday I'm In Love, Lovesong, and Just Like Heaven.
My suggestions: Close to Me, The Lovecats, Boys Don't Cry, Let's Go To Bed.

The Cure is a "fascinating group" indeed. The first single off this album is called "Fascination Street". And if you love bass like I love bass, and like Rob certainly loves bass, it has a incredible bass line. That said, I know you would also love "Pictures of You" which is just endlessly beautiful, and romantic, as well.

The Cure is still my favorite alt rock band (alternative rock was a separate music genre then). I still have some of their cds. They were phenomenal and I also loved their whole look, and vibe, which reminded me of The Addams Family. While I love music videos, but they along with compilation/"best of" albums rob you of the original album version of artists' songs, where they usually jammed several minutes longer on both fast and slow songs. 2&3 minute songs were really rare. Bands truly had and recorded phenomenal jam sessions and The Cure could definitely jam!

There are quite a few songs by The Cure that are beautifully crafted, Close To Me, Lovesong, Inbetween Days, for example. It was hard to believe they could be improved on and then they released their album 'Mixed Up' which gave every song on there a superb workover. It has been one of my top 20 albums since it's release in 1990.
