    Worked great for one of my mags, so thanks for the advice. The second magazine I was replacing the plate on the inner locking plate ended up dislodging and tumbling down into the magazine. I took my brass punch (same size, slightly softer) and one tap to the back of the plate knocked it forward. It's a little riskier, but at least that works as a good backup and is way better that using pliers.

    I did it this way, but the base plates on my mags were a little bit more stubborn, they wouldn’t slide right off. I had to take a small screwdriver and pry them off carefully. Maybe it’s because the base plates on my mags have never been taken off before now and I’ve been using them for five or six years, I don’t know. I keep my meticulously clean and lubricated, but at any rate I got the job done.

    Given the way it's made I doubt the mag was actually made to be taken apart at all, which would be the business smart thing to do as you would be forced to just buy a new one should something happen. Speaking of I have a mag that is brand new but the follower gets stuck and jams up the rounds. Would love to see what is going on in the mag but I can't remove the base plate without completely wrecking it. -_-

    • @raymondpearson4268
      @raymondpearson4268 4 года назад

      The way I did it on the 10 rounder all you have to do is put it in a vise trust me I did it wrap a tile put the corners and a vise push it back in there just the top part I mean the bottom part squeeze the corners while pushing down on the middle button and it will hold it all in place even the spring and the base plate comes off

    The Glock tool is 3/32" not 1/16. This method may work with magazines that have been disassembled a few time but if you try it with a brand new magazine you will bend your Glock tool before the baseplate moves a hair.

      put it in a vice slowly tighten while pressing down on the button hold it down until the button doesn't want to come off anymore tap from the other side with a flathead screwdriver and it will slowly take the plate off make sure it doesn't pop up on you but mind held tight enough that it didn't spring back until I took the tension off just the bottom half you got to kind of corner it in a vice trust me it works take your time turn slowly tighten slowly

      It will come off, you have to give it some major juice. I have a Glock 17 that is only 4 months old and after shooting USPSA and doing mag changes in sand, I needed to clean my magazines out. The first one I did, I didn't think I could get it off but after really putting some muscle into it, it came of. The other 3 after that were easier to do since I knew what I had to do. Keep trying, you'll get it.
