  • This video walks through my experience replacing the front brake pads on my 2018 Mazda 3. For the last week I've noticed some vibration / pulsing when applying pressure to the brake pedal and the braking performance has been noticeably worse for the last several months.
The front brake pads are the originals and now have 37,000 miles on them. The tools necessary to perform this job are as follows: Ratchet + metric sockets (14 mm and 17 mm, deep well or regular), small adjustable wrench, demolition grade flat head screw driver, any small or medium sized hammer, lug nut wrench or socket compatible with your lug nuts + impact gun, brake pad grease, safety glasses, and protective gloves, wire brushes for removing rust, Breaker bar or ratchet extension handle for extra leverage. Elbow joint for better articulation for the ratchet when loosening the 17mm bolts.

First thing you SHOULD have done is put a jack stand under it so it can't collapse on you if that hydraulic jack should fail.

It's called the caliper bracket that holds the brake pads in place.

I just removed the lower bolt for the brake piston carrier and swung it upwards without removing the pad carrier.

Next time remove, clean and lub the caliper pins. For safety use jack stand otherwise ok.

What are the brake pads that you used? I bought the Duralast Gold Ceramic Brake Pads DG1728, but they don't fit my Mazda.

Next time turn the wheel for more room. Also I plan on buying m12 wrench as it has almost as much power as m18 but is much more compact
