I've had this camera since its release,
I own quite a few top end DSLRs but i find this camera back in my hand year after year, its got a lovely rendering that has quite a cult following now.
I love it, its compact, with a super sharp lens, fantastic film like vibe from the sensor and has some amazing features like a 1cm macro mode, film simulations, stabilizing aids and EXR.
Its so easy to carry around, and because of the zoom function and compact build you can get so many keepers from this camera.
I have a massive print from this camera up at my workplace which reminds me how good it is and how my other expensive gear would have missed the moment, especially if you're shooting with mainly primes which I do. Small cameras are discreet, light and more importantly fast, so for street photography this Fuji fits the bill with the bonus of a zoom.
If they made a modern apsc version as good this with all the functions, macro, etc i think alot of my gear would be sold.

Great insights! As a musician, I’ve opted to use my “beater” instruments, knowing I can just have unhindered fun with them, without the “mendokusai” of having a “work tool” around my neck.
That decision often means I have to explain to laypeople and students why I choose simplicity over the latest and greatest tech or gear. I’m usually met with blank stares.
If I can get the results I need with a tool like this, its function outweighs any quirks. I’m all about it! I appreciate your philosophy-I can relate!
(Getting a used X30 next week!)

I just purchased this camera 3 days ago. Its funny, I also shoot the Nikon Z series cameras for professional work and I have about every other brands except Fujifilm. I was looking for a simple, small camera to ride around with me for an EDC. I have also been drawn to the 6-12 MP sensors for that special look that is reminiscent of film. I have been curious about this series for awhile and I love the styling. Looking forward to using it more. You tube over emphasises always upgrading when if you have the right light and the right composition, a 20 year old camera will produce great results. Let’s face it, if your just putting images to social media (as most of us do) 6mp and above is really all you need. Old cameras are fun

I agree. I also bought a x10 as a daily. It has an interesting exr sensor that give the best (DR) results in its 6 MP mode.

Totally agree, it´s great camera. I own one for almost 8 years now and others came and went, but this one stayed.
Your comment about the "film-look", is the secret tom me how to make this camera work. Not pumping up clearity and Co.but going to a
    creamier softer look works great.
The only thing that I don´t like about the 10, is that it´s not the 30. I would love to have that sensor and the digital viewfinder.
    Cheers

I have a x10 and a x30 and since x30 is more bulky i often pick the x10 to go for a walk, i love them both, the viewfinder and the screen is awesome in the x30 but the portability of the x10 is great. The x10 was the camera that made me leave Canon for Fujifilm, i'm now a proud owner of a x10, x30, x-t1, x-t5 and a instax mini evo and i use them all.

I know just what you mean. If the X10 had just the EVF from the X30 but nothing else, I wouldn't keep my X30, I prefer the EXR sensor and mode to the X-Trans sensor of the X30

Would getting one of the smaller APS-C Z cameras (like the Zfc, Z 50, or Z 30) also work in your situation? I feel that it could potentially help with having a familiar menu workflow, etc., while still being more compact and relatively inexpensive (though you might still run into the lens indecision issue that you had mentioned).
(also just some constructive criticism, but when you set your hands down on the table, it makes a kinda distracting pounding noise since it's right next to the mic)

    • @jasonhalaykophotography
      @jasonhalaykophotography  Год назад +1

I think using a camera like that would be great for sure! And if you are worried about lens indecision just take one and only one out with you. I have been doing that a lot when shooting with my Z9 for fun.
Thanks for the mention about the noise with my hands. Been trying to stop doing that but still getting used to using such a good mic, hahaha
