This was a wonderful video for me personally. Not just because I'm a working photographer, and I shoot Fujifilm cameras. But it really hit home because of my father who passed away in November. He was 73 when he passed and my shining lighthouse in Stormy Waters regarding photography for 43 years of my life. Twenty-three of those years he was my partner in my photography business where we worked side-by-side together. He was a big-time Nikon user, but also equally appreciated my love for Fuji. Anyway, I don't know why I'm sharing this but I thank you for the video you've created. It brought up some very Bittersweet Memories thank you.

I have the X30 and just love it. I sold my X100v as i found this camera with the zoom much more useful, and the quality of jpegs outstanding. The prices are now becoming crazy expensive. I bought mine new unused for AUD 250.00 3 years ago, now they are almost a thousand. I often use mine with a promist filter.

I'm interested in photography when I bought my first digicam last month. When I see your father in the video, he reminds me several years ago when my mom told me for the first time that my grandpa is a photographer and musician and actively shot pictures in the 50s and 60s, and showed me some of pictures that he take and that blown my mind. Mom said she told me several times when I'm around highschool but I didn't care. I feel so stupid 😅. I play in a band for more than 10 years now and just started to learn about photography, its like his DNA is in me and I never realize it. I feel grateful now for that inspiration and be able to learn so much from this channel. Thank you

out of all the problems the X10 has, the one I didn't expect you to run into was pricing.
Guess that I'm spoiled by France's camera prices (Fujifilm X10s run for about 150€ here, 400 is more in the X20 territory, and even then that's expensive)
I don't know if you plan to look into the X20, but basically the X20 is a carbon copy of the X10 with 2 changes : the sensor is now XTrans instead of Bayer (so either you like it or you don't, that's personal preferences. The sensor looses its AA filter though, so even though it's still 12MP sharpness is a little bit increased) and the viewfinder now has an overlay to be able to confirm focus, exposure, settings etc like a DSLR. Everything else is the exact same. In my opinion, the X20 is a pretty nice improvement over the X10, except if you really want to stay on that older sensor.
X30 is not much of an upgrade, it's more like bringing the X20 in the modern era. Say bye to the OVF, that's now an EVF, screen is now tiltable and the video is better. But if you don't care about those, it's not worth it over the X20 in my opinion.

Main problem: the JPGs are simply nor great - you need to shoot RAW and post process. But the RAWs are gorgeous. Very good 4k video too, albeit a little greenish.
And surprisingly good on low light - I had a X100s once, brought both to shoot a reharsal in a music studio, and the LX100 files were much cleaner than the X100s (gurrent Fujis are much better).

Greetings from Germany:) I bought my first used X10 in 2018, in mint condition with approximately 4000 shots , originally boxed and so on... Gave it to my at that time 20 years old daughter for a mountain hike with her boyfriend. They both had new iPhones, but as she had seen the x10 pics on her mac, she told me, she would wish, she had a Fuji too. She never had taken Pics on a real camera and was fascinated! I could catch another X10 on ebay for 140 € and made it her Christmas present. I bought another one for me as a spare in top condition for 150€. Now a few weeks ago my beloved first one with 4000 shots died. The activation via turning the zoom still works, but zooming itself doesn't work anymore and autofocus the same. Repairing at Fuji Germany would cost about 340€, a nogo for me! Tried to get a replacement on ebay, ebay local ads, thrift stores...nothing to get above 220€! So you're right, old Fuijis explode in prices, X20, X30 or first X100s even more. So X10 Owners, keep your little gems!!! And by the way, your Videos are informative, inspiring and just entertaining! Hug you, Thommy

Very nice photos in this one. You really hit the warm tones perfectly.
I have yet to pick up a Fuji X series camera of any kind. They just always feel too pricey, but maybe some day.
In fact, I have finally stopped adding to the collection. For me to buy more camera gear, it needs to be something extraordinarily special. Not even the Nikon D200 with a low shutter count, I had been hoping to find - and then did find, made it in to my collection.
I'm using the digicams, I already have, for the rest of the winter, and then film cameras will return full on as my daily carry - possibly with an old digicam, that can't handle cold weather anymore as a backup, when the summer season with a lot more light sets in.
Hopefully by then work will be a little less crazy too, and I'll have more energy for photography again, though I doubt it.

Very beautiful video! I have only one thought to share about the price thing. Most of us, I suppose, are shooting raw and editing later, so the image quality of the sensor should be the number one price determining factor for a camera. Second, we have the lens (in my opinion the only differentiating aspect of a digital camera, at least with CMOS sensors). If we are talking about a fixed lens then it has to be really exceptional to justify a hefty price tag (like the Leica Q2 for example, or to a lesser extent, the X100V). For interchangeable lens systems it doesn’t matter because you can always put a vintage lens for character or a very sharp prime for clinical look. The ergonomics and aesthetics comes later.
The JPEG “hype” about Fujifilm is something to be considered if you try to explain the ridiculous pricing of most Fuji cameras. Sure, to be honest, Fuji JPEGs are the only viable way for a normal human being to forget about editing everything in post! But, still, it’s not for everyone. I am shooting raw because I want my photos to have a certain look for consistency, and that look has nothing to do with any film simulation from Fuji. And the problem is that Fuji raw files are horrible on Lightroom (the editor I am using for ages). So I prefer to spend half the price on Sony that has horrible JPEGs but amazing raw (it’s literally a blank slate, you can do anything with them). And lastly, about the aesthetics, if I wanted a true vintage style there’s always the Leica out there (not necessarily a new model).

I have the original X10 from the time when it was first introduced almost 10 years ago. It has the infamous orb issue with light sources when the photoreceptors of the sensor would get saturated. Fuji has offered a replacement of the sensor back then shortly after an uproar from its user community. Just point your camera to any light source at night and see if you get a well-defined orb instead of a glow. I didn't participate the replacement program as the orbs didn't bother me that much and I didn't use the X10 for night photography on the street. But today you can get the X30 with an EVF although it uses the X-tran sensor instead. After getting my XF10, my X10 has been sitting on the shelf. Check out the XF10. It 's actually almost like the Ricoh GR at half the price and it has touch screen.

Even in low light, the JPEGs work in B&W with some pleasant grain. I've been thinking about picking one up again, as I'm looking for something light to tote again. However, the X30 appeals, so I am on the lookout for a good used one! I would add that the Nikon 1 J5, with the 1" sensor, is a cracking small camera and the lens quality is decent, even though the Nikon 1 range is discontinued.

Me again! :) Do you remember me? I sadly lost the auction for the Canon 1Dmk1 and was so sad about that, but alas I will wait for another one if it ever pops up again or if I go to Japan and just spend a full month in vintage camera shops over there. Lol. I am about to pull the plug on this camera over at mpb. Love your videos! If you are ever in NorCal, would love to collab or go shoot!

You always seem to give a thorough break down of these cameras and I'm grateful for your insights. Was the battery life any good? How does she feel in the hands? Heavy? Yeah Fujis tend to be expensive, not worth it because I'm broke, LOL. If you've ever used it would you maybe consider comparing this camera to the Panasonic Lumix LX100 or maybe do a solo review of that camera by itself in the future if possible? That would be cool. I always look forward to watching you. Peace.

My favourite small travel camera is the Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX100, it's ergonomics are wonderful, such a pleasure to use but inspired by you and Lucy, I've been playing with a Fujifilm Finepix A920. One of the great things about this camera is it uses AA batteries, the bad thing is the battery life is appalling, I'm going to have to use rechargeables, both for the environment and my pocket.
i also have the Ricoh GX 100 (my first digital camera which I used alongside my Mamiya RB67s and somewhat battered) and a GX200. Again two cameras that are a joy to use, especially with the add on EVF.
I also have a LUMIX FX-12, which is a tiny jewel of a camera.. Oh and I nearly forgot, a Pentax Optio H90, again a beautiful looking minimalist camera. Anyhow to cut to the chase, have you used any of these and if so, how did you find them? And if not, please check them out. I'd be interested.

Similar experience where some sooc photos were magical and then others were kind of flat. I personally found the camera to be a bit of an awkward size where it wasn't quite pocketable. My friends also found it to be a little intimidating for everyday documenting so I ended up selling it. Went for a (even more) compact Fuji - the xf10 instead and have found it friendlier for edc

I wanted to love that camera when it came out, but it didnt jive well with me during the rental. Loved testing it finding out it didn't meet my needs. Years later got a underloved x-e3 that aosy al most sparks joy I hoped the x10 would have back then. Itstill leaves me wanting occasionally but its a wonderful companion camera that more often than not is able to shapeshift into something really special while never being particularly special

I bought one of these when it was originally released and still have it. It still works well for its age. Great glass with stabilization and a wide aperture keeps it relevant even now. But the autofocus is not good and manual focus is clunky. I’d use it more but my Lumix GX85 is superior to it in pretty much every way and is still quite small.

    • @OneMonthTwoCameras

The GX85 is fantastic. Definitely a lot younger being released 4 years later but way snappier autofocus. More expensive since it still needs a lens but with the Leica 15mm, that is one of my favorite little street setups.

I have quite a few cameras from Fuji and although I love the “Fuji colours” I can agree that they don’t usually resemble reality (I almost exclusively shoot Astia). I recently was gifted it’s older brother the original X100 and it’s certainly showing it’s age performance wise, but I must admit that those out there fuji colours keep pulling me back in (regardless of accuracy)

Fujifilm X10. Hmm, this camera shines when stopped down or used in low light situations. This small sensor does produce dirty Jpegs and the lens and/or sensor does produce mushy files under some situations compared to X30. You can only save two film simulations to the dial options C1 and C2.

Very nice and stylish camera, excellent handling. The picture quality in shadows and higher iso was my concern. The watercolor effect, some flatness. That sensor had.
I had my copy free from 'light orbs' fortunately. All in all, it spent few years with me and I regret letting it go. Pictures taken in a good light are superb.
Then I went for x100, now Nikon Coolpix A is in my pocket when I don't need DSLR

I really, really wanted to love the X20: the optical viewfinder made it different than all my other EVF cameras, and the physical zoom made it different than all my motorized zoom compact cameras. However, my Olympus XZ-2 just delivered superior images. Looking at test images comparisons on DPreview confirmed I wasn't just seeing things - despite a smaller sensor, maybe the Olympus just has a better lens, because it delivered far more detail, especially at the edges of the frame.
If I didn't own an XZ-2, or if the X20 was at least on par with it, I would have loved it and kept it. Now I think I value the shooting experience more than nitpicking image quality, so maybe I could love it now in a way I didn't a few years ago - it's unfortunate that prices of them have shot up so high, discouraging giving it another go.

Not every digicam is great, and if you add overpriced, even now, it seems to be about the brand more than anything.
