Things to note for tank builds: Turn karmaric dice off. KD turns this build from a tanky monster into a crit fisher in the worst kind of ways. Each miss increases the chances of you being hit, the only way to be hit being a crit.

A critical hit means not only more damage but it means that on a roll of 20 you hit NO MATTER WHAT the target's AC is. With critical removed that "autohit" effect should also be gone meaning there would be not way to actually hit if your AC is high enough and the maluses large enough.

Something to keep in mind for honor mode: enemies remove 2 stacks of radiating orb every time they attack, whether they hit or miss. Paired with the -1 per turn, an enemy with extra attacks can remove at minimum 5 stacks of radiating orb per turn.
Additionally, I believe larian added a hard cap of radiating orb stacks. 10 stacks.

Some already mentioned it, but I can't recommend this combo enough: adding Boots of Stormy Clamour and Adamantite Shield make this build ridiculous. The Reverberation, stacks quickly because Radiant Orb is a condition too. I deliberately run around initiating opportunity attacks, because they extremely likely miss, adding Reeling (condition!) from the shield. Creatures receive thunder damage and likely go prone (condition too!) when having 5 stacks of reverberation - all this quickly spirals into an insane amount of damage and prone enemies for your party members to deal with.
Combine with the Cull the Weak illithid power and the AoE damage becomes absolutely ridiculous(ly fun).
A weapon like Intransigent Warhammer is insane in AoE situations and undervalued: you are near enemies anyway and procs on any kill. Lastly, just use a bow as a stat stick. Like one that adds initiative.

Everybody goes with the Callous Glow Ring, but the Ring of Mental Inhibition (Act 2, near the Shadowed Battlefield waypoint) actually synergizes better in my experience. It inflicts Mental Fatigue on an enemy's failed Saving Throw (Spirit Guardians aura, Holy Lance Helm, Reverb's Prone, and spell attacks). MF is -1 INT/WIS/CHA, stack 7 max, 5 or more pops 1d4 Psychic and resets fatigue.
Now, enemies have up to -10 to attack (Holy Lance Helm), up to -5 in STR/DEX/CON saves (Reverb Prone), up to -7 INT/WIS/CHA saves (all spellcasters, plus Spirit Guardians), all the while taking damage.
I provoke Opportunity Attacks as much as I possibly can. They miss, take Radiant from HLH (which they fail thanks to RoMI). Damage pops the Shockwave, which pops the Boots Reverb, which knocks half of them Prone as it stacks out, and the Thunderskin Cloak puts Dazed on the other half. I tanked all of Shadowheart's final story battle with her frontline and 3 people in the back lazily helping her out.

Considering there's a cap of 10 stacks for most if not all status effects, I do think the Blood of Lathander is better than the Sacred Star. Primarily because the BoL is its own light source which procs the rings this build has without needing to cast Light or Daylight, plus this light also blinds undead near you. And the 1/day Sunbeam cast is just better than not having it

I could see this also as an addition to paladin & war cleric smiter build. You would have the same damage from the build in here, but in addition you would be capable of doing multiple smites per round and have a lot of spells to power those smites.

  • @mattheusspoo
    @mattheusspoo 9 дней назад

I did something similar, but i had different weapon, gloves and boots.
I the phalar aluve as a weapon, using the sentinel shield for the extra initiative. That alone makes so i don't need alert, plus since i was a elf with high wisdom, i had a ton of perception.
gloves of beligerent skies, and stormy clamour boots. It decrases my radiating orb generation by a little, but incrases by a TON my reverberation generation. Phalar aluve shriek will proc thunder damage everytime they take damage, and everytime they get damaged by radiant or thunder damage, they get 2 stacks of reverberation. plus, with boots of stormy clamour, they get another 2 stacks everytime we apply radiating orb, that meaning we will be constantly knocking them prone.
The amulet of greater health also gives advantage on con saving throws, so warcaster is redundant. Because of that, i instead take one level of tempest sorcerer. That gives me con proficiency for even more saving throws, but most specifically, the spell shield, and the ability to fly after casting a spell. Instead of jumping around, i can just fly around the battlefied spreading debuffs, knocking people down, and IF they roll something that would hit me, i can just use the shield spell. Cloack of displacement + warding flare + shield + 10 stacks of radiating orb means i'll never get hit by any physical attack, or attack roll. I'd still take damage from stuff that requires saving throws, like fireball and whatever, but on how tanky i'm naturally am i just cannot die. The phalar aluve also helps my team a lot, and the combination of reverberation + phalar aluve shriek means they cannot push me since all of their dex/str checks get heavily debuffed. Many times, when the enemy comes close and take a hit from my spirit guardians, they are instantly knocked prone, and waste their turn inside it. And when their next turn starts, they take the damage again, being knocked prone again, wasting their turn again, and so on. It's insanely broken, altho the damage isn't the best. If i need to do damage, tho, there is always the cleric spells i could use, even tho i usually leave the heavy damage to my teammates. Been using it on honour mode with my friends and it's immoral.

Even with dropping the shield you still get a +1 for AC with a dual-wield Feat and so most enemies will have only a 5% chance of landing a hit (natty 20) and the amount of damage you can inflict with the Spirit Guardians combined with an on-hand AND off-hand Deva Mace one-two punch makes for a fun playthrough!

I'm running a Light Cleric with similar gear and it's insane. while the Amulet of Greater Health is great and all, you don't get it until later in the game. Until then, use the Spineshudder Amulet to inflict reverberation when you use ranged spells. For boots there are two good options (better than what you recommended): Boots of Speed which double your movement and inflict disadvantage on opportunity attacks against you so you can stroll around the battlefield with no worries. Second are the Boots of Stormy Clamour. Those inflict reverberation when you inflict another condition (like Radiating Orbs). Finally, Gloves of Belligerent Skies inflict Reverberation which deals Reverberation when you deal Thunder, Lightning, or Radiant damage. No need to hit with a weapon as with the Luminous Gloves. Reverberation is a lot of fun. It debuffs saving throws for Strength, Dex, and Con, and once they get 5 or more stacked, they have to make a Con saving throw (at at least -5) or fall prone and taking a bit of Thunder damage clearing the stack. I haven't figured out if falling prone then triggers the boots to given them 2 Reverberation to start their next stack. So you wander around, enemies take the damage from the Spirit guardians, can't hit anything, can't save against most attacks, and fall down like they are drunk being easy targets for everyone. Oh and if you want to get around like you can with those Bonespike Boots, just respec with your first level as a Storm Sorcerer. Aside from gaining proficiency in Constitution, you get a bonus action fly every time you cast a spell level 1 or higher. That isn't tied to your movement. So do your thing and then hit the jet pack and fly over to say hello to more enemies.

Once you have the Amulet of Greather health you can drop warcaster as it only gives you shocking grrasp at that point, you can also start with one level in sorcer to get perfecenty in Con saves and not lose out on spell slots ( meaning you basicaly cant lose conentration even if you take aoe damage).

I run something like this on Shadowheart but as a tempest cleric with Spell sparkler and phalar aluve. the thunderbolt effect from tempest plus reverb plus orbs if just too funny. Everything bounces off and the few that can attack have huge debuffs. add in a few levels of storm sorc for flight and magic missle for huge damage when paired with shriek

OMG how have I gone through SO many builds relying on those rings and *never* noticed the orbs stack?! I've been horribly gimping my builds because I didn't think they stacked, and I was only using the rings OR the gloves OR the armor OR the shield. 🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦
This build is just as glorious as the "True Immortal" frost build Rage did a few months ago. It'd be fun to run SH with this build and have Tav running the Sorc build. Just wander around Faerun screaming "stop hitting yourself" to all the enemies! 🤣🤣

This looks like an awesome build but my worry would be running into the occasional enemy that reflects radiant damage. There aren't many of them but there are enough (in the House of Grief and maybe in the Gauntlet of Shar, and some fiends also I think) to make it very easy to insta-gib yourself. I suppose elixirs of radiant resistance would be a help here, although I think the damage gets reflected back as force damage, at least for Radiant Retort. I've come to be very leery of dealing radiant damage.

In honour mode radiant orb is nerfed, it's only function is to proc +2 radiant damage from the ring and reverb set. A better build would use reverb set and be 1st level sorcerer to better hold up spirit guardian or 2 sorc levels for infinite spell slots.

just a warning for everyone that will attempt this in tactician/honour.
radiant retort from certain enemies (Viconia, dark justiciars) will hit you for twice the radiant damage dealt. Take that into consideration before investing heavily.

Problem with this and all the similar builds early on is it relies on a lvl 3 spell slot and so you're needing to long rest quite often. In a party, using the whispering promise ring and amulet of restoration makes cleric the ultimate support beast and you don't really lose anything doing this. That then means you can bless the whole party on heal for 2 turns without using a spell slot of using concentration and so you have bless on the team and spirit guardians running and then bless individuals with individual heal and even bless yourself using potions

  • @montv2

Guys, one friendly advice, if you gonna take auntie Ettel's "Hag's Hair", ALLWAYS use it to improve your constitution score.
This way you get one interchangeable stat point, because you never want your constitution score to be below 10 i.e. your lowest stat, so 1 point in constitution is never bad.
However, if you put the point in charisma, you cannot respecc this character to say strength, cause he will be left with 9 in charisma.
While you never want to have too low constitution, no matter how you redistribute the stats. And if you want one point to even up some score, you can always take the Resilient trait, which gives you 1 point in any stat + advantage on saving throws for this stat.

Combining radiating orb with reverberation and encrusted with frost on a tempest cleric spamming ice storm while concentrating on spirit gaurdians might have been the most broken combo ive ever made in anything D&D. Nothing gets close, and if they do and manage to hit you, you use a reaction for 2d8 lightning or thunder damage to them which then triggers reverb again. And more combo bs, basically ensuring that everyting on the battlefield is prone in 2 or 3 rounds of combat and missing half their health.
This works just as well with light cleric if you focus more on the orbs instead of reverberation.

    • @marcosdheleno
      @marcosdheleno 8 месяцев назад

i said this a few times already, cleric is the jack of all trades of D&D. you can literaly make a party of clerics with each doing a diferent role, and still make each feel completely diferent while still highly effective in that role.
from caster, to tank, to healer to CC, to melee.
there's so much leeway to give other classes more fun tools.
i seriously dont get why its the least picked class in the game.

Anyone know if Crusader's Mantle works with this? Like if the wearer of the radiating orb pieces casts Crusader's Mantle, are they credited with the extra radiant damage from the other characters and then activate their effects or is it just the damage that they deal with their weapon swings?
