Couple things with the opening ceremony. With a bit of history, seeing as history is the reason I started listening to this channel. The games has always been dedicated to Zeus, with the opening to/by Apollo. With papa Smurf actually being Dionysus/Bacchus. The games ceased to be held sometime around 400AD and were brought back into existence by Corbetin at the turn of the twentieth century. I can not speak for all the opening ceremonies but everyone I can remember has been “weird” (go check Barcelona 92, it’s the prologue for March2020) After Corberin’s passing in 1936, his heart was removed and taken to Olympia, where they made an alter for it. It is from there that the Olympic torch is lit, then taken to Athens, then to the host country. As for this year’s ceremony, the crown, with seven rays of light, belongs to Apollo/Helios. Making the “woman” in the center, the high priest. The priests are of Dionysus/Bacchus, a religion that to this day, remains a mystery. As for Da Vinci’s fresco, Leonardo was not a religious man, thinking more of the earth as god. He did the mural for financial reasons, with a bit of hearsay that he took inspiration for the setting, from earlier fresco’s of Bacchanalia. I wouldn’t consider his painting “inspired”. In short, it was meant to mock all, who are uninitiated. The ceremony is in place not for men, but the gods. Whether people believe in them or not.
The reason why South Africans have a problem with those particular countries is mainly based on the issues that affect the average South Africans in townships. We have alotta Tswana people from Botswana as an example in our country, and we literally have no problem with them cause they are not posing a threat or being an issue compared to our fellow africans from those mentioned counties. The truth is those fellow Africans are causing problems for the average Thabo in the township and we can not be dismissive just cause we are far away from Thabo's day to day life in the townships.
My mom is from England but I don't care what anyone says, I was born in SA, I was raised in SA. No one will ever tell me that I'm not south african. Poor girl, xenophobia!
I loved the chat about the death penalty and the state of our prisons. The only thing is we can't be mislead by the notions that have been spread around costs and the role of prison in society. Firstly, it's not cheaper to sentence someone to death compared to life imprisonment. There's tons of studies on this and if you count the hours in court along with all the other resources needed for the proceedings of a death penalty trial, it's Alot of money. So it not as simple as killing someone. Secondly, prison should be tough and shouldn't be a fun place but we also need it to be a place for rehabilitation. People grow up in the worst possible situation and see crime as there only way of life for many reasons. The government needs to address these things directly before anything else. It's all starts at the source. Prisons just facilitate the worsening on these issues because once the gents get out (if they get out) they can't find work or don't care to find work so they go right back to crime. Most cases they don't want to know any other way but prison doesn't help to show them anything else either. Lastly, the courts system is already a shit show with cases mounting everyday. Having long drawn out death penalty cases would just deplete an already lacking system. I understand why people want the death penalty but it's not as easy as it was hundreds of years ago where we just stood around as a community and let a person be executed for crimes that they are being accused of, whether they had a fair trial or not.
The hypocrisy in this country is baffling. Tendai Mtawarira is a neutralized citizen and was adopted and celebrated as our own, dude has over a century of caps in a bok jersey (1 of 7 to do so). This woman is a citizen by birth and yet she's being dragged because of our agenda against West Africans. She's no more South African than me.
@@Therealnetworkpodcast I was also surprised about Da Les's stroke. I practically live in the area close to where he gyms and my sister would be in the same spin classes as him so we'd see him from time to time and he looked good, but then again that was last year when I last saw him. He's in our prayers🙏
People that campaign for inclusivity should really just have their own pageants , sporting events etc because now the problem starts when say for example sports like athletics . we all remember when they came for caster semenya back in the day but now there might come a time where transgender people are allowed to compete in sports so it really screams double standards
I love how you(Warras..sp) explained the whole olympic thing and being gaslighted as a Christian, that’s the same way the people who are questioning Chichi’s “nationality” feel. I mean they are just asking questions and the only thing they want is answers.

It’s crazy that this com section is still Xeno 😂WTF. Yoh don’t split the beauty pageant to singles moms vs others, no it will cause more stereotypes. There are other appropriate ways to reduce single-momship guys. And those ladies be hot af sometimes, me I love them(however, this is not the main reason) but now the stereotype that comes with it be depressing sometimes.
