- In this episode of the Wide Awake Podcast, I spoke to Gayton McKenzie, who is the leader of one of South Africa’s largest political parties, the Patriotic Alliance.
We discussed former President Jacob Zuma and his new political party called MK. Additionally, we delved into his visit to Orania and his efforts to combat illegal immigration.
However, the main topic we discussed, and the reason I invited Gayton back onto my show, is because on the 19th of February 2024, a girl named Joshlin Smith went missing from her home in Saldana Bay in the Western Cape.
Gayton has played a significant role in the investigation that followed her disappearance and he even met Joshlin's mother and her boyfriend, who are the main suspects in this case!

While watching Mckenzie I had this premonition of him saying:
I Have a Dream of South Africa being the first nation in the world to demonstrate how we build together across nations ignoring the shackles of the past and standing together for the future of all our people.
Its the first time iv heard of any political leader that works on the ground gets his hands dirty to stop crime. This is a leader South Africa needs!
I don't know which is the best position for Gayton. I have a feeling he will be the best Minister of Police this country has ever had. I know he is running for President, but if he doesn't win that I believe he should be made the Minister of Police. He is clearly gatvol, just like the rest of us, of the crime in this country.

I just started working in Orania first time I've seen people sleeping with their gates open, car windows rolled down, people running alone at 11pm at night and small kids walking around alone not having to worry about anything

It's not racist enclave. It's a dedicated community that stands on principles and practices and goals to maintain their cultural heritage. Away from people who desires to destroy anything that can is able to function without dependace on outside government. Everything is racist when it doesn't agree with personal world views and perspectives. I think they have achieved something great, and worth modeling.

This was my exact thought when the government was taking Israel to court. Sitting in my flat, with poisonous water, no electricity, driving in potholes and being yet another victim of a smash and grab 2km from a police station, driving past homeless people wondering why their suffering was more important than ours.
I share the exact same thoughts as you sometimes. At times I feel too many of our citizens place too much emphasis on Israel and Palestine. We have our own demons to deal with in SA but these same people are oblivious to this. Makes you wonder if Israeli’s and Palestinians have/had any sympathy (prior to this war)for SA and our murder and crime rates. After all it’s the highest in the world!
Palestine helped SA during Apartheid.Advice go and do research about that specific country that is having a problem.Check what was good and bad for the country and choose what is correct and stand for that.

Religion is not and will never be the solution to a stable society unless practising a particular religion becomes mandated by law, in which case we would have failed miserably in creating a free country.
Please keep practising your peaceful version of your religion, but also please keep your religion away from government. It does not belong there.

If you want self-determination, Orania is the only way to do it, if it offends certain people it is a matter of accepting it because that is called freedom and the right to associate with whoever you want to.
