Deepika Mehta is a New age Yogini. She dove deeply into the ancient tradition of Yoga after a traumatic rock climbing accident in 1998, falling from a height of 40 ft., because of the profound healing and transformative power she has experienced through this ancient practise, Deepika is extremely passionate about learning and sharing this beautiful practise. She continues to delve into learning from her personal daily practice which she considers extremely sacred and from teachers and spiritual masters in India and all over the world. Deepika has trained some of the top Indian film stars and is one of the youngest teachers to teach at one of the most celebrated Yoga festivals in the world,The International Yoga festival in Rishikesh at the Parmarth Niketan Ashram.

The dance of Prana is Gods gift to the dancer and it came with a lot of sacrifice and surrender to the Powers that govern this universe and the individual thought merging with the cosmic thought. The dance of Prana is the dance of electron, neutron and beyond the tinest conceivable the human intellect.You are a unique soul that carried the cross before reserructing as a dancer.

U are absolutely stunning mam , and yes I am highly inspired by your journey , but pls mam don't manifest this image of India around the world that too in such a huge platform , that you "I am a girl from India.... And so and so... Marriage ... Kids" yes there are people with conservative thought but that is a very little part of country and now a days most daughters from the household and encouraged to step out and bring laurels to the faimly also empowerment for themselves. As a responsible citizen of India it is our duty to hold the dignity and image of our country.😃 Namaste🍃

everyone is clapping so m i and u earned it but i think u have long way to travel to understand and regulate prana ....even circus workers shows better and thrilling feat than dancers and yogis but u know what makes latter bigger that they dont have to display how tough it was to achieve and that too by demeaning value system around to magnify self and appear larger than life..... now sit down , relax and watch dance of your ego

The dance was the talk. She conveyed so much in her dance. It was enough.
Very impressive! In fact I was in complete awe until she had to ruin it all with her closing statement "...as a woman from India to be here today, when I should be married and have five kids ..."!
What a poor opinion she has of her own fellow country women! And is this what she wants to convey about Indian women, to this august audience & to the world !!!

J B Kurup completely agree.. baked an amazing pie and then put a little bit of inedible mud on it.. :( but let's give it to her for what she did, rather than what she said.. sometimes best of us falter in nervousness...
Despite this, she feels that sort of pressure every day, whether from society or within her mind, most likely engrained (traumatically and via micro-aggression and cultural pressures) from her childhood and upbringing, which as motivated her to challenge and fight against those words, which has brought her to where she is today. Can you imagine the thoughts going through her head, to be brave and do this dance in front of so many people so publicly. I can relate.
the opinion is not of her country women. its a very accurate representation of what's expectef from women in India, Pakistan etc. And it IS true that for her to be there on that stage performing when growing up shes clearly faced the pressure of society to follow the traditional path, its an awesome feat. That she fought so hard for her dreams. It wasnt that she thought lowly of the women of her country. She was speaking from her own experience. She found the pressure by society negative, it wasnt about her fellow Indian women.
A good saying, that's why you should have held yours. Understand please that the point of view depends on the point of standing in this situation.

I don't see it as random. It's interacting with sounds with her body, with movement. Dancing. Feeling. Offering feminine energy. Making use of yoga positions I guess? And proving her point. Too bad there were no pictures of her incident, to kinda make it more believable.
