As someone who's never really seen Killer Instinct either I'm loving this series so far. With you guys analyzing the system as you go this is very entertaining.
I'm giggling so hard all throughout these videos. KI is my favorite fighting game of all time, and watch you learn the ropes gives me nostalgia from when I picked up the game in 2013. I can't wait until you get through the Dojo mode and experiment with other characters.
Please don't blaze through the training mode, I'm super enjoying all the breakdowns especially since KI does such a fantastic job with going over everything.
I think their confusion about openers = specials stems from them using the combo assist at the begining of the tutorial. It's much clearer if you just never use it.
this tutorial continues to impress can't believe how comprehensive it is and how free it truly is when it comes to what you want to do and how you want to start the party really impressive can't wait to see more
Yo this is great. Seriously I've wanted Brett to go through the learning process from the ground up for a long time. It's great to see the different way these guys approach these tutorials/trials. Brett's experimentation is great and works really well in a game with only a few trials (Street Fighter) whereas Santell's like dash for the finish line works very well in this kind of tutorials setting. It's absolutely fascinating. Can't wait for more!
I am SO happy to see Brett and Santell taking their time with this tutorial, this in my eyes is one of the better tutorials especially for a game like KI where the mechanics are super different. I just wanna say, keep up with the tutorials take your time. Once you figure out how the game really ticks you will love the style of KI.
Tick throws are something I never heard of before. Hahaha man, I wish more fighters had an in depth tutorial like KI does! This is teaching me that there is a whole lot more to fighters than combo lists and button mashing, and having moves as well as terminology in game makes it much easier to know what to ask online. It makes me absurdly happy that KI 2017 has the dojo as well!
The sounds of Brett's and Santelle's discovery of the games mechanics is so fun to watch. I reacted the same way when I was first figuring out the dirty/crazy stuff in this game.
I've been listening to Killer Instinct's soundtrack for years, but I've never actually played the game. This series has been the final push I needed to convince me to pick it up (as soon as I can actually afford it).
David_Aug_101 it’s actually a free game just with a rotating fighter each week if you don’t want to buy it right away and it’s $5 per fighter if you wanna just buy the fighter u like
Idk if this will make it a bit easier for you to do combos Brett (this is probably gonna outdated) but when you're in the combo state, the game kind of puts your inputs on a queue (with a couple of moves being able to overwrite normals) so it's not as much about timing as normal. Just being one or two steps ahead in commands is good enough for the game. Juggling, Manuals, and wallbounces on the other hand, that needs timing
I usually don't like it when Brett is in the lab like this BUT. I LOVE this series so far. This is super entertaining and I can't wait for the next episode!
I really like the training sessions going on here, and I think it'll be hype once you finally graduate from KI school and get into practical application with new characters
BTW dudes, thank you SO much for doing this. I've always struggled to get used to KI after playing Marvel, SF, Tekken and a few other fighters so it's great seeing it broken down like this. Keep it up.
Dont worry man, take your time with the tutorials, watching you guys figuring out the crazyness of killer instinct is awesome, I'll take 10 more episodes of just the tutorial.
This is a damn beautiful game and once you get it, you get it. Well plus you have to "get" your character, cause each of them has some unique aspect to just them.
You always make me want to play these games. Maybe I'll get Blaz Blue Cross Tag sometime(really wanna try the RWBY characters), but super competitive games(which fighting games naturally are) don't appeal to me that much. I just don't have the time to put into getting competent with them, let alone god(as far as the online community is concerned at least). Dragon Ball Fighter Z, when I got to try the demo on Switch left me really disappointed in that regard... well, actually it left me disappointed in general. The demo seemed to have any actual training modes disabled and, ironically, it felt really slowly and clunky and I couldn't figure out how to do anything. But this? THIS? This really makes me want to play this. I always thought of Killer Instinct as a Less Gory Yet Somehow Edgier Mortal Kombat and just kinda… running on Shock Value and Edge, ya know? But damn if I'm not wanting to take this game for a spin.
17:18 The Combo Assist training wheels finally come off!
The shackles are off!
Santell doing Shadow Lords would be a legit Arcade Mode playthrough.

Don’t breeze through, the pace of these episodes have been awesome!

I swear I never get tired of the SCF intro

Hypest shit ever! Can't wait for them to put all of this into real matches
Looking forward to when they get up to the Combo Breaker lesson to see them break that down. Definitely enjoying this so far!

As a person who has never played Killer instinct, I adore this series so far as you guys figure this game out.
I can FEEL Buffalo Bill being channeled through you Brett

Man this series has been such a nice surprise. I hope you guys decide to take your time and enjoy this game like a fine wine.

Brett getting hyped is hyping af. :O

So it's like mk dial a combos
Killer instinct part 10 OUT OF TUTORIAL?!?!?!?!?
jokes aside, this is really fun to watch, i love how Brett is mesmerized like a kid in a candy shop
Brett and Santell would make great announcers for a game.
Brett is about to have some crazy freaking combos in the future
I usually don't like it when Brett is in the lab like this BUT. I LOVE this series so far. This is super entertaining and I can't wait for the next episode!
Easy to learn, hard to master my dude. But you're getting it. I'm very excited to see you understanding this game.

MAN, all this cool stuff is making me want to take the dust off my General Raam =)
Next time: Couch fighters the movie!

Living this!
Laser sword in older KI games actually looked like a laser 👀
I can't wait til they get to manuals
Prepare for "the tutorial saga".
Yo, Brett you planning to stream KI at all? Is love to play ya
23:02 Jago's sword looked like a laser sword in the original game. Must have kept the name.

Oh shit, waddup
So we will start actually playing matches sometime around next April?
Man, I really wanted another video of Street Fighter. Come on guys that has to be a weekly thing too!
