This channel is made to learn Dutch for English speakers. By learning Dutch with videos, you'll learn basic Dutch pronunciation, by learning it online with many Dutch phrases and Dutch words. We'll also see basic Dutch grammar as well as tips on how to speak Dutch. The accent used is from Belgium, so it's Belgian Dutch, which is also understood in the Netherlands.

5 Years after you released the video i started to learn dutch. I have an exam tomorrow so I am really thankful for that.
Good luck with your exam!
You're great teacher wonderful explanation
i really like your english accent, it make listening to you very pleasant
Thanks!
Just started with Dutch love your way of explaining things.
Thanks for your videos! But I have one question:
1:13 and 1:43 - I hear for "jij" and "hij" rather [je] and [he], not [jai] and [hai]. I searched for different accents, but never heard similar pronunciation. Is this just my ears or some rare accent indeed?
Your ears are fine, no need to go to a doctor. IJ is indeed one of the sounds that vary a lot across different Dutch-speaking regions, more info here: ruclips.net/video/wJXOzet9R8I/видео.html&lc=Ugw7N8fD2u_Pr-GN8jx4AaABAg

Thank you for the lesson Alain, you are so handsome and intelligent teacher! I'll learn Dutch with you, please an episode about prepositions in the future?
Thanks a lot! I do have already a few videos about prepositions (for example this one: ruclips.net/video/UzRG-N8zZSY/видео.html) but which ones would you be looking for?
I brought your book from amazon and I'm now studying it.
Thanks a lot Francis, don't hesitate to ask questions.
Dank je wel, do you have a lesson about jou/jouw case?
There you go: ruclips.net/video/xCSpB43R5Zs/видео.html
Can you reduce hij in he too, or is there always emphasis?
There is always emphasis, but in spoken Dutch you might hear 'ie.' There are also dialects using other versions.
Dank u wel!

is it bad if we learn dutch from dutch people? I'm planning on moving to Belgium in a few years and I'm currently living in France. However, most classes taught can be found online are taught by dutch people from The Netherlands. So I wanted to ask you what you think of it?
For example, will a different accent will be very noticeable? Is it bad if we speak with a Dutch accent in Belgium?
Bad? Certainly not. 99% of the words are the same. It's like French from France and French from Canada. But when you have the choice, it's better to choose Belgians...
Hi . I really like your channel but I have a question. Is your accent Dutch from the Netherlands or Belgium?
Belgium!
Is there a version of "you" in formal and plural, is there a formal version of "jullie"?
Aha, well, good question. 'U' can be used both for the plural and the singular, even though the conjugation will always remain in the singular.
And hm, jullie is informal but to me, it can sound formal too.
How do we know when the Ze is she or they?
The conjugation will show: ze gaat (singular) vs ze gaan (plural).
Ok thanks
😊😊😊👏👏👏👏
jullie eten
Are you sure you pronounce pronouns correctly? Duolingo but also other sources pronounce them differently:
Jij sounds like yay
Hij sounds like hey
Zij like zey
Wij like vey
And so on
100% sure. Also 100% sure it depends on where exactly you are from, more info on ruclips.net/video/wJXOzet9R8I/видео.html
