    an inexpensive thing I did was have a couple of large stickers printed that say "GPS LOCKED - WILL NOT WORK OFF THIS PROPERTY" and put them on the top.

    Great Idea!! Have not purchased the Luba yet. Being able to add the tag will help, should it get stolen. Good velcro would work and make it easier to service. I think as Mammotion continues to develop the Luba some type of effective theft tracking will show up in newer models. This is a relatively new product and improvements will most likely continue as they get feed back from owners in the field. Like the wheel design.

  • @Amigatech
    @Amigatech Год назад +5

    Since the bumper is removable, and the tags are fairly inexpensive, you may as well hide a 2nd tag on the main body somewhere. A 3D printed box to hold the tag could be printed in white, and glued to the side near the wheel. Print 2 so you can make it look symmetrical (the empty one would be a decoy). Another option if you don't have a 3D printer is to use Sugru putty. It will harden around the tag like rubber, and also hold it in place.

    I saw some people putting AirTags in the wheels. My Luba is being delivered next Friday (or at least should be) and I’ll probably put it in the wheel and put a couple tamper resistant screws in so it isn’t easy to take the wheel hub off. Also you might want to remove the speaker from the AirTag because after like 8-24 hours of being away from the owner it will start playing a sound. Also if the thief has an iPhone they will get a notification that an AirTag has been following them and gives them the ability to play a sound and would lead them directly to it.

    I don't think electronic companies care if their products get stolen or not, such as $3000 fish finders or mowers. If these things get stolen, that correlates to more sales for replacements. My fish finders have NO built in security; so I installed an alarm in my boat couple years ago. I still have a security guard sitting on my mower while in use,.

    A few people on RUclips have opened up the Luba lawn mowers and found that currently the SIM card slot is not connected to anything. Making it useless. Maybe in future models it might be used. For the price, their should have some way of tracking it. Or at least the option for the owner to add a SIM card to be ablexto track it.

    • @politenessman3901
      @politenessman3901 9 месяцев назад +2

      Might be worth putting an old SIM card in the slot so a thief has something to remove and stops looking for other security devices?

    I plan to buy one of the newer Luba 2 (second generation) units in a week. This is very tempting to install a tag. Although, I live in a small community off the beaten path. Theft is very low if existent. I have so many property cameras that you can't drive past my house without being recorded, let alone walking on the yard to take something. My homeowners insurance told me point blank they would not cover it.

    As for prevention perhaps a sticker marked ‘’Anti-Theft GPS tracking’’ in bold could be persuasive. Much better, would be a lift motion loud alarm, a friend of mine had this kind of device on his 10K motor bike, but it was a simple any motion alarm which wouldn’t be good since the Luba moves.

      Take pictures of it and your receipt for insurance. You might even want to contact your insurance company to make sure they will cover it. They likely will because home insurance covers possessions (clothing, tools, jewelry, etc).

    I'm thinking about doing the same (but with a cheaper alternative from Atuvos).
    Isn't an AirTag making a noise if it looses connection to your phone + gets moved? And also: if it has no connection to your phone but then maybe to the neighbors behind the fence? I mean this would mean Luba would constantly beep while mowing or when neighbor walks by behind the fence. Right?

    5:35 "There's no way a thief is going to know to look in here" ... unless they google "LUBA anti theft". 😄
    That said, the Venn diagram of "smart enough to research anti-theft" and "not smart enough to research if stolen LUBA can be operated" probably does not yield a lot of overlap.

    The thing about the AirTag that Im not impressed with is that I cant "Add a notification" on the specific air tag. My other apple devices I can "Add Notification" such that if it leaves an area, it will notify me. I dont see this option for the Air Tag other than "Notify when Left behind". Well, Im always gonna leave this behind. Anyway, if you have more knowledge on this; do share.

    I do not understand this working if stolen.
    It works by contacting other iOS devices like an iPhone near to it
    and even warned them of it - so a thief would know that the device is there and could remove it and throw it away..... hence y confusion, it is not like GPS tracking at all.

    • @AdamsReviews
      @AdamsReviews  Год назад

      There are iphones everywhere. it takes like half a day to alert of a airtag being with you. You should know if your lawn mower is missing by then and if they do decide to throw it out you will just track to your lawn mower. They will not be smart enough to find it. We are talking about thieves here.

  • @altairiv6326

    The problem with using an Air Tag, it 100% depends on being within 33 feet of an iPhone or iPad to work. So this option is basically worthless.

    • @AdamsReviews

      There are iphones everywhere lol.

    • @altairiv6326
      @altairiv6326 Год назад +1

      @@AdamsReviews Not when only about 20% of cell phones and tablets are iPhone and iPads. Then there is 33 foot distance. I do not know of anyone in my neighborhood that has an Apple product. Also, the homes in my neighborhood are between 200 and 500 feet off the road and a good 700 to 1000 feet between them. So, their is no chance of picking up an Air Tag signal. The office I work in, has more than 300 people, I only know of two with iPhones. The company I work for has over 60,000 employees. No Apple products are supported due to how unsecured Apple products are. No Apple products are allowed to connect to our network, internationally or remotely. Yet all Android products are supported because there are ways to secure their connects.
      So NO, I would never trust an Air Tag to secure and/or track down a $2000 and up, piece of equipment.

    I ordered a Luba and was charged for it on the 24th of May 2023.
    I waited for one month and I didn't get what I ordered nor a message from their sale departement informing me that the order was dispatched.
    Of course they didn't react to any email I sent them.
    I reported the transaction to PayPal and I tried to get my money back.
    Probably by pure chance I received one day later an apology email from that fraudulent company trying to convince me to drop my claim on PayPal (they even offered me a free set of blades for doing so).
    Of course I declined and I waited for PayPal to solve the case. On the 20th of july, PayPal decided on my favor and refunded me.
    So my advise: don't touch that company and their products even with a ten-foot pole, there are a fraud!

I agree they are the pits to converse with but their product is great. Hope I don’t ever need work done on it.
