I mix in a 22oz bottle, 1/2 cup white sugar, 1/4 teaspoon salt, half a lemon juice and top with water. Thats 98 carbs and tastes delicious.

I have been doing 4-5 hour rides with your product in relatively high heat in Northern California and have consumed it at around 75 grams per hour. Not any stomach issues and felt quite good at the end of ride. I weigh 147 lbs and I think this rate of carbs will work for this length ride for me. I am going to “experiment” tomorrow with the other product I was using which has some protein in it to provide a contrast. I can’t put that product in my hydration bladder unfortunately. I am very proficient in maintaining my hydration on long events of 15 hours or longer and consuming your product in an iced down hydration bladder is a huge plus for simplifying my nutrition.

Way back in the 70's we had no special supplements, no jells no power bars and so on, we basically made due with what we had or could monkey together, about the only thing we had were Tiger milk bars, only problem though we had to consume the Tiger milk bars right there on the spot. How did we do back then for myself, no problems what so ever and my water bottles was straight water, I'd start the day with a couple of bananas a bowl of some type of cereal and so on, I'd take along 3 to 4 bananas a small bag of dried fruit and many times I'd also take along 2 small cans of frozen Japanese coffee, mid way through the ride they are ready to be consumed, other than that there was no prepping the night before, when living in SILICON valley I'd ride from down town San Jose, Japan Town to Santa Cruz, some times I'd push straight through with a few short pit stops here and there, I must of done this ride north of 50X, round trip was roughly 90 miles with roughly 7,500 ft of climbing, I started doing these rides at the age of 16, once in Santa Cruz it was time to get some grub then make ready for the push home. Though out my rides I]'m always eating something here and there and I always had bananas, bananas and more bananas. As of today I still have never have ever used any type of gels, supplements and so on, I guess you can say, I'm old school.

@@salsalawyer awesome sir! #FueledByREVEnergy Yeah there is no change needed. It was and is the same protocol she’s been using on all other rides we’ve done. I really think the main issue is she hasn’t ridden 100 miles in a LONG time. She can only ride long every other weekend because she works every other weekend. She sagged for me on those weekends off for the 300 Km, 400 Km, 600 Km and then another 600 Km. So that’s 8 weeks without doing a century ride or anything longer than 70.

@@salsalawyer two other points I wish to make:
      1. We also think it has something to do with being stopped for an hour and not taking any calories that whole time
      2. Sometimes you just have a bad day doesn’t matter how much fuel you take you’re just having a bad day
if you go back and read the comments on Jess’s video, you’ll see I talked about a 500 mile race that I did. On day three it didn’t matter how many calories I took in. I just could not Proulx produce any power. That’s why I’m saying some days. You just have a bad day and there’s nothing you can do .

Eat before you’re hungry, drink before you’re thirsty. I’m glad I have this imprinted in my head whilst riding.
A question if I may George. When I increase sugar intake, I sometimes get an ache in my legs. Similar to the feeling of growing pains. I’ve been putting 60g sugar in a bottle and find this to be fine. If for example I put 80g, I will get this feeling. Have you come across this? I suspect it’s a case of getting used to small increases over time, but slightly hesitant as it is an uncomfortable sensation.
Thanks for another helpful, and actionable video

Hello Joseph! Have you heard "eat before you're hungry drink before you're thirsty" before?
I'm sorry I can't help you on your question. I have no clue why people drink table sugar in their bottles. I don't see that as a long-term or long-distance fueling solution. The Drone Scene made a comment about his mixture. Again I don't see that as a long distance fueling solution. Maybe you can ask him how he uses that on his century and century plus rides

I found that bonking is not a black or white thing for me. When glycogen stores get depleted I can't get my heart rate up to my "comfortable performance" number of about 155 bpm. I ride long distances on an unfaired recumbent so power output stays pretty constant. On a recent trip (140 kms, 6 hours) I found out 5 hours into the trip that the previously chosen schedule of 50 grams of carbs per hour wasn't enough. I was hitting a ceiling of about 120 bpm and getting cold until I at some more sugar.

I am going to start keeping some gels or powder mixes in my bar bag, for impromptu rides. I am a pretty casual rider but I can see why I bonked 2/3 of the way through my last 20 mile ride from not fueling before, or during. My rides tend to be pretty spontaneous, I.e I am just out on my bike and go for it. I think even as a casual rider I need to take this more seriously. I should have had 2x as much water too but at least I hydrated before.

Correct REV ENERGY does not contain fructose! I don’t believe in this 2:1 ratio nonsense. Fructose is terrible for you and you shouldn’t take it. If you get it from a fruit that’s fine because you just can’t take that much in. How many oranges can you eat compared to how much powdered fructose you can take in. It’s a huge marketing strategy at the moment. I won’t put it in REV ENERGY
