I so appreciate the detailed instructions. I'm making some scrub-esque outfits, & a hat, for my mother, for chemo therapy. I could just use a pattern, but wanted to make something a little extra-special. Time is a factor, so having you as a kind of buddy in my ear, guiding me through the steps, has made it considerably more pleasant, & far less stressful. THANK YOU!
I started watching you long before I sewed anything myself, just because I love to see how creative you are and how you can turn old dull clothing into something amazing! Then I ordered some clothes online and it was too long for me since I'm so short. Then I thought I could just borrow my mum's sewing machine and fix it, and I'm so happy with the result! Now I want to sew my own clothing too! You inspire me so much! I love everything you do, thanks for sharing your talent with us April 😊
Dear April, I think you are quite genius. You are so talented and skilled at refashioning and design. I'm also glad that you so matter of factly say that you messed your cutting and so need to change your design. It makes me feel better about all my mistakes. I think it encourages people to try things without so much worry about mistakes.
Gorgeous! Not only is the idea ingenious, I also love that this is something even a , you know, "grown up, professional woman" can wear....especially the first one. I don't need to dress very formal for work, but stuff that's obviously diy is kind of a no go...and I like to use my precious sewing time for clothing I'm actually going to wear on regular basis. And this one is definitely a winner!
Just a little tip for gathering... zig zag over upholstery thread. Make a knot at one end. Zig zag over it then leave a long piece at the other end just to make sure you don't pull it thru. Have fun and love your ideas
You’re a natural fashion designer! I cannot get over the beautiful clothing that you create out of second hand finds! One day I imagine I’ll see your name up there with Chanel, McCartney, Dior, etc.! Keep at it! 🥰
I love how you "confess" your mistakes so that beginning seamstresses don't feel so stupid when we make our own flubs! I also love that your recycled art is so cute and functional. Thanks for being so honest with us :)
Q2HAN • creeping these two • (jk, actually subscribed to April's for a while now, but I just started commenting on yt vids a bit ago. heh. shy person problems)
What a cute summer dress! Just a suggestion, but I find it much easier to put the elastic in the casing as the last step. That way you don't have to stretch to pin and sew. Everything is flat until the very end.
Hi April! Just an idea but what would you feel about buying cheap ebaydresses, that RARELY look like they should and transforming them into the dresses they should look like or just simply reshaping them into cooler, trendy dresses? I'd find this really interesting and weirdly enough, after a quick search, theres no other similar videos on YT. Love your videos and your style! BR Lilli
It's a cool concept, but I'm assuming she does Thrifted Transformations, at least partially, because she is interested in upcycling and sustainable practices. :) Those cheap dresses from eBay are produced unethically and only contribute to the immense waste generated by the fashion industry. Definitely not trying to attack your suggestion, just replying with what came to mind!
Dont worry Brandon :) It actually occured to me aswell after writing the comment, that the idea might not be the best fit for her channel. Like you said: It is called thrifted for reason. Maybe my comment inspires someone else to execute the idea. Id do it if my sewing skills werent so damn poor. :D
Lilja Mattila It is an oddly specific situation, but it could work if she knew someone who bought a cheap dress, got something other than what they were expecting, and then she transformed that!
Brandon Yarchuk Id imagine everyone knowing someone in their circle who got screwed by the cheap prices of ebay/online stores and received something not expected.. tbh Ive been there 😂😂
It's amazing that you can make so many different items with just two shirts! I've always been wondering if there was your own way of storing/using all the leftover fabric pieces. I would love to see a video about that. Btw your sister looks awesome in that dress!
your sister lily is so beautiful.... I am so upsessed with watching your videos. I love how you all was have good ideas and I wanna do this in the future as well...thanks for the good videos as always be you inspire me so much to go above and beyond 💜😁
You are so creative! I have been sewing all of my life but it never occurred to me to try this. Thank you from a new viewer, I have Subscribed to your channel and am going to binge watch your videos! You Go, Girl! 💖
You are so talented. Your imagination with clothing transformations seems unending. For the double collar design, had you considered removing the placards and making it more fitted through the torso?
Found you through Q2HAN! I literally bought a blue striped shirt from a charity shop 3 weeks ago and have been wanting to transform it and not knowing how! Fate!! Thank you ;) So happy to have found your channel
when you sew something and you use needles to fix the seam and you put the needles in a right angle to the seam and the head of the needles is enough away from the sewing foot you can sew across them (and needles with a smaller head are better for this) and e.g. the pleats are where they have to be 😊😊😊
You're just a frickin wizard, amazing! :D The dress is gorgeous! Also, it's weirdly satisfying when you cut the rounded hems perfectly without measuring :D
I wonder what the 2 piece shirt would look like with a black and white shirt instead of the same colored shirts?!? Side not: love your choker necklace!!! 💕😍
Coolirpa 'i bought this shirt' three seconds later 'i made this cool dress' i think it'd be three weeks and a visit to ER for me! But seriously, that first shirt, that was so simple and beautiful an idea and so successful, thank you so much for this. And the beginning is right: it really is a programme, a positive enlightening one with no fake 'debate' about immigration or 'here's my special guest with a book to promote' or other waffle, stripped to it's real essence with everything you want and nothing you don't, thanks:)
You are my inspirationnnn! I saw that blue dress you made and went hunting for a similar one. Didn't find it but I'm almost finished making my very first clothing!
Can you do a video on how to make your own Lularoe type dresses (Nicole and Julia)? They must be simple to do, I'm just not sure how and what type of fabric to use. Also, how you make leggings. Thank you! I absolutely love your videos!

I love the idea of using those collars that way, the top came out so cute! I love what you did with the extra material too.. no waste!
You are absolutely amazing! I especially love that you show mistakes and how to fix them, not just leave them out.

I love your use of the leftover fabrics. I'm piling up some from mini sewing projects and now have an idea or two on what to do with them😊
I love how you "confess" your mistakes so that beginning seamstresses don't feel so stupid when we make our own flubs! I also love that your recycled art is so cute and functional. Thanks for being so honest with us :)

Can you do a video on how to make your own Lularoe type dresses (Nicole and Julia)? They must be simple to do, I'm just not sure how and what type of fabric to use. Also, how you make leggings. Thank you! I absolutely love your videos!
It would be so fun to see you transform something really hideous.... something you don't think anyone would buy in its original form, and transform it into something else. :)
this woman is a genius
This is so fun! I might even try it... 😃
