I'm so glad to see someone who does thrift flips with clothes their own size instead of buying up all of the larger sizes which are hard to find at a thrift store already. Great creations, your work is so tidy!
You did such a great job. This is a great idea! and the styles you chose are so nice. My favorite is the color block shirt - I'm a sucker for color block clothes. I have copied some styles from Pinterest and even have a board for styles that I would like to copy and adapt to my personal style. This video is motivating, inspiring and encouraging that Thrift flips and upcycling is an excellent way to get the Wardrope of our dream without breaking the bank. Thank you!!!!
April, I’ve been watching you for YEARS, and you are one of the first content creators that I started watching for refashion ideas. Your talent is off the chain. I really like how you recreated trendy items rather than purchased them. I’m sure that it saved a lot of money, and it was sustainable since you recreated with thrifted items that may have ended up in the landfill.
I just put in an order for some labels of my own. I don't have a logo but you can choose from a library of cute symbols, and I just chose a font I like that says "made by Monkeh" to put on my quilts. It took 5 minutes, super easy (barely an inconvenience). If I ever start my bag business I'll definitely need my own labels.
Love this!!! ❤ Please don't let these comments turn you into a one trick pony. Your thrift videos are amazing but your diversity in content is what gives your channel a dynamic vibe. 👏
I absolutely love these videos. So inspiring and great motivation. I tend to get overwhelmed with notions of complex projects when really I should just do simpler stuff like this. Thanks so much!
Pls do a thrift flip of a knit sweater by adding duplicate stitching “embroidery” or making an oversized dress fit by shirring the waist! I wish there were more tutorials about these two ideas 😂
I love these items so much!! I always watch your videos but I rarely comment so I'd like to take this chance to tell you how much I enjoy your work. I've been following you for a few years and it's truly amazing to see a young person create a business out of something they're passionate about and it's such a joy to see you grow as a person and share your life events. I'm a beginner sewer myself, but I've fallen in love with sewing and especially upcycling old clothes/fabrics so watching your videos is such an inspiration. All the best from Algeria! xx
I'm a newbie at sewing, it's part of what I want to learn at 62! Thank you for the french seam idea as I do not own a serger. It's funny, I saw this shirt but thought it was a little pricey for me and here you are showing us how to make it! Thank you.
How I would like to be a seamstress like you girl ! very talented and it's pretty what you transform with other pieces of clothing! thank you for sharing all this with us!
With the color blocked shirt, do you find that the distance between buttons matches up on different shirts or do you have to re-position the buttons of one shirt to fit the spacing of the other shirt?
That skirt would also work great using a maxi skirt, trimming the bottom off and cutting and sewing that extra fabric to be half the length and twice the width to gather for the bottom tear.
Love your remakes. Could your machine do gathers? All you have to do would be to put your tension on the highest and you can get the gathers, may have to do minor adjustments. Thanks for sharing my dear.
I believe there's a sewing machine foot for that. It's called a 'gathering foot' if I'm not mistaken. It can also be done with a serger by tweaking the tension settings.
awesome I loved the skirt and shirt. I think I'm going to have to do those. the sweatpants would be a problem because I live in the Caribbean and it's way tooooooooooo hoooooot to even where heavy sweats
These are all great but also, you could sew the other halves of the shirts together, use a different set of sleeves, and then put the leftover sleeves on the blue shirt, and then you have 3 new shirts right??
Loving the creations... Keep going Gurl!!! Edit: loved the button down mashup shirt!!! Truely endless possibilities of creating an outfit based around it 🤗 Kisses and hugs from India...❤️❤️❤️
You should do this more often. I love this kinda thing!!! I also wanted to ask you when are you going to have your own clothing line business. Lol but now you do!!😆☺️
You did great. Are your label stitches showing through the right side? Do you have any recommendations for how or when to attach the labels to prevent them showing on the right side?
Hi! For now they will be until I construct future clothes and can be more prepared to include them. But I’m thinking of getting the iron on labels for items I don’t want to stitch through. Also I use different colored thread for the label and my bobbin thread matches the clothes so it’s not as noticeable.
@@coolirpa thanks a lot. I got some labels for some of my custom sews and wasn’t prepared ahead of time for when and how to put them on so they show through not always with the thread matching. I have the sew on labels and some of the iron ons but I find the iron ons always end up washing out or needing to be sewed on later. I haven’t used any adhesive mediums in sewing yet so I’m not yet sure which ones eliminate or minimize the issue with the iron ons. I think you also mentioned using bias tape for closures of some seams. Do you have a video for when you like or recommend using them? I didn’t do such a great job my first time using the pre made bias binding. I tend to want them about 1/2 - 3/4 inches but end up buy them much thinner than I need them to be.
Amazing! Your labels are great too. You could get a stamp with a recycling symbol - or a thriftcycling symbol - and just stamp the necessary labels? That way you won't waste product/energy/time/shipping on getting a separate set of labels. :)
Weird note, but it looks like in that last one - the original used the whole gray shirt back. That'd probably be easier than doing a center back seam - just as an option for anyone doing the DIY version
@@coolirpa You're welcome. :) "Handmade by April" and "Upcycled" can't be found. This is the first time ever you're replying to my comment and then here I am complaining lol. 😂
I missed your thrift store makeovers! That's how I started watching your channel. 😊
That’s how I found her too!
Same😁
Same. :)

That color blocked shirt is definitely my favorite! Thank you for explaining what a French seam is!
Wooooooooho.Turning the pants inside Out ist soooo stinking smart. So damn easy 😱have to remember it.

Very cool! All three items turned out great!
Thank you!
That is as great way to make a short skirt long enough to feel comfortable in. Thank you.
With the frankenshirt, could you use the other pieces to make 2 more frankenshirts?

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE your "made from scratch" videos. But for my money, the THRIFTED TRANSFORMATIONS tutorials are where you shine!
I use the Dutch label shop. They are good. So are you.
I like thhese longer skirt you have been making occasionally. Yes I would love to see more like this.
I love Dutch Label Shop! I ordered custom labels with my logo on there a few months ago, and they came out stunning! Super high detail and quality!
That’s awesome! I can’t wait to order more variety for mine

Love how the shirt came out! What a fantastic idea! There are always so many men’s shirts at my thrift store!
I use my drawing desk to cut out fabric. They can be pretty affordable.
Thanks for the inspiration. I've been copying my own clothes.
You are doing well with these makeovers. Thanks for sharing this sweetie.
These look awesome! I really like the color block shirt. I am definitely going to try to do this!
all the pieces came out so well!! maybe one day i can try them too lol but also the music at 6:51 sounds so much like ChungHa's Gotta Go! 😆
I love these transformation videos from thrift finds, so yes, more please!
Fantastic Idea on the recycle symbol for your labels.....Love the shirt

Yes, continue making videos like this. They give us so many great ideas. Love that shirt.
great for any age.
The color-blocked shirt looks better than I thought it would
How funny you found DutchLabelShop ! I have ordered fron them for over 30 years but then I live in the Netherlands!! They are really the best !

The last one you could have 3 mix matched shirts 😅
The fleece pants are made for Eric! I love the skirt and button down too!!
Haven’t watched this channel in several years, and I had honestly forgotten about it. But luckily RUclips recommended it to me 😍

Thank you for the discount code. I have been wanting to order labels for a while now, so now I did!
Fun coincidence, I just saw some ads on Facebook a few days ago and thought "I can do that too, the cuts look easy enough"

I didn’t consider that option haha! Thank you for sharing. I screenshotted the picture but didn’t get to check out the link for that one 😅
I didn't realize that either! I was thinking maybe a flat fell hem might look cool in the back too.
It could be, but then you would have to do more work to reattach the collar since that has to be split down the middle anyways.
Did you get a new machine lol? I'm weird sorry.
I really enjoyed this video the ideas are great
