Classy, help us understand the logic behind an 83' MLA G4. This is going to be so prohibitively expensive for only 6 extra inches over a 77.
Also, will be interesting to see if mini-LED can close the gap with OIed this year when it comes to black levels. If I can get a big mini-LED for cheap, i'd consider buying that and have you come calibrate it and then move my C2 you calibrated to another room.
Mini-LED TVs will never match an OLED when it comes to black.
@@MirelRC I don't know. I've heard several of the big RUclips reviewers mention that some of the more modern mini LEDs have gotten close enough to where the difference isn't that big. With better software and dimming zone control, it's feasible to think it could get close enough to be a non-issue.
@@Icipher4 when there are complex scenes where there are different small bright objects surrounded by a dark background, you'll see that it isn't a perfect black. Let's say a scene with fireworks‚ in those cases an OLED will not just gonna outperform‚ but it will destroy any Mini-LED TV. I've tested in 2023 QN90C‚ QN95C‚ X95K‚ QNED91 against C3‚ G3‚ S90C‚ S95C and A80L. No Mini-LED is close to OLED black level. And this can even be observed in scenes where you have bright spots and shadowed areas.
And one trick some might do to reduce the blooming from the backlight is to limit the brightness of the bright spots. And in those situations, we will get a less impressive HDR presentation. If they don't do that, we will be able to see the blooming more.
The only advantage for Mini-LED in general is the brightness those can have full windows and, in some situations, where there are bright objects on different backgrounds than close to black.
If I would have to pick a TV for a bright room‚ but I have a budget of something like an LG B3 (or B4) and there are some Mini-LED options I would get the Mini-LED.
If the room is moderately bright‚ pretty much there would be no reason to not get an OLED.
Now it's on you to decide what you want to buy. But never expect OLED contrast on a Mini-LED‚ unless the LEDs are as small as a pixel.
LCDs will continue to be left further behind from OLED. It's a technology limitation of LCD. If you are used to OLED contrast, no LCD will be worth switching to.
As for 83 vs 77, yes there is a large price difference that is hard to justify for 16% increase in size. But pricing is always exponentially higher for flagship/Halo products.
@@ClassyTechCalibrations Caleb begs to differ. He says the new Sony's will be pretty darn close on the blacks. And certainly much cheaper.
Pretty cool I guess if you want to buy an 83" flagship. That G4 is probably going to cost 6500. I'm more interested in the new Sony Mini LED beast that is reportedly 50% brighter than X95L and more backlight control
Cant wait to see the G4 83” had the 83’s oleds problems or not, to stick up with X95L 85” if there is! If not G4. Thank brother classy for these news!
How good a tv would the qned 90t series be the 65 inches specifically ?
Thanks for this, and your clear explanations.
I’ll be waiting for you to test the 83” G4. I was pretty much set on my next TV being an A95L 77” or possibly G4 77” but I’m now intrigued by 83” with MLA. I did think it would be a new panel for sure though, you think there’s a possibility they put MLA on the 2021 panels?
With G3 processing being that close to A95L, G4 increased processing will take it further, plus 150% brightness boost for 3% window I think value wise G4 will win
@@whitecrowuk575 Man I hope so. It all sounds great, we’ll just have to wait and see.
Doesn’t move the needle for me. Would love if they adopted QDOLED
Have you seen the HX3110? Is it much better than the older mastering monitors?
The big news for me from the OLED side is two G4 models, one with a stand and one with a mount. I’m thinking the model with stand will be better integrated than the optional stand from the last two years.
On the LCD side I’m hoping the 90T gets the newer ADS panel and dimming algorithm from the 85 but retain the zone count from the 2021 QNED90.
Classy, the 85T loses mini LED but I hope John Archer is right in that it retains local dimming.
Cautiously optimistic that the 90T will be the LCD TV we wanted from LG in 2022.
What do you think of the new sony 2024 minileds?
Well, the 83" G4 is my next purchase. Probably have to wait until Black Friday 2024 tho
I just purchased an 83" Sony A80L back in November or I would do the same. I bet it releases at $6500 and drops to $5500 by black Friday.
@@blb128 I already have the A80J and they just are not bright enough.
The c4 needs MLA cause of S90C from last year. Toned down MLA with the weaker processor. The pricing of LGs oleds is gonna be interesting to watch this year. The G4 is gonna be a monster.
G4- 83 inch I’m ready let’s go LG
let’s just hope the uniformity on the G4 is better than it’s predecessors
Nothing about BFI? :(
Cmon G4 with improved processing.
According to rtings the B3 still can’t even hit 600 nits in HDR. The C3 can top out over 800 hits. The difference between the two in brightness alone is still fairly substantial. Then you have the fact that the B series is still using the older panel type that is far more susceptible to burn in than the newer Evo panel.
Rtings measurements are far from reliable.
Every B series I've done has been around or over 700nits peak and they are using newer panels as well.
Interesting. I did just check rtings and they actually show the B3 being less bright than the B2. The B2 did top 700 nits according to their measurements, but not the B3. Regarding panel type, according to their pixel shots the B3 definitely appears to be using a different panel than the C3.
@@DeesBees85 the B series is likely a lottery for the panels to get rid of old ones, but also use new ones in certain sizes where needed. They may not be ex panels but should be WBE (evo) panels.
@@ClassyTechCalibrationsI thought EX and Evo were the same thing. On LG’s website the C/G series are specifically listed as Evo OLEDs, with the B just being labeled OLED.
Also, fun fact that a lot of people don’t seem to know. The Sony A80L pixel shot looks identical to the B2. I think Sony is using that cheaper and older panel from LG, which would also line up with the lower brightness on the A80L being similar to the B2/3.
@@DeesBees85 Evo is not a panel type. That is a name from LG Electronics for an ecosystem.
WBC is the 2020 and older panel name. WBE is the 2021 panel name, EX is the 2022 panel name. EX is just a more refined/efficient version of WBE.
Sony absolutely uses EX panels since the A80K, and the A80L is actually around 800 nits, same as C3.
Pixel layouts can be different with different sizes, variants or regions.
What are we guessing for a price for the 83 inch g4 🤦♂️. 6500 out the gate ?
Somewhere around that is my guess
In oled we had nits nut and in led we had dimming zones nuts😂
83 inch MLA day one purchase for me LG is looking to take the crown back this year 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
83 or bigger has f.... banding and tint issues in deep blacks
You will see compression artifacts , ghosting and noise like no other.
day one purchase is not a good idea with anything new...
Thumbs up or down. Would you upgrade from c1. Too g4... BFI 120hz i say no... 2025
Lg 85T 4:54
G4 will equal or surpass A95L in processing, but not being QD Oled will still be the inferior choice.
All hopes on S95D now.
Thanks, have a latté on me. =:)
Thank you , great info !! Really looking forward to hearing more and also what Samsung will be introducing . Take care , Dreamer
Meh. Not enticing enough..
Samsung’s chance to shine, especially since Sony thinks they can get out of high-end OLED space.
LG has been making the worst LEDs for quite some time now, I wish this would change.
Lol troll spamming here
@@СНСАЛЕКСАНДАРВУЧИЋ Unless of you haven’t paid attention.
Massive LG fail. How’d they manage not to increase peak luminance on the G4.
1400 - 1500 peak brightness is pretty good overall... In fact, it is one of the brightest OLED TVs on the market. The only thing that I see disappointing is the fact that there is no color volume increase‚ and color brightness increase‚ at least there is no mention on that.
You people trying to go blind it doesn't need nore brightness, it needs more color volume. It failed with color volume not brightness!
@@marvel764 other competitors will likely increase this year which means they failed at both. QD oled already destroys it. Just another LG loss
