Todd raised Liv Tyler daughter of Steve Tyler (Aerosmith lead singer) as if she were his child. He actually signed her birth certificate, so essentially he was her dad.
@@susanelkins3068 A little weird maybe, but life happens. Apparently Todd and his Lady split up for a minute and she had a moment with Steve, got pregnant and ended up back with Todd. Todd did the right thing and raised the baby as if she were his. That's what a man should do.
This is my favorite song of all time. When I was very young my parents separated for a time and I remember my dad telling this was his favorite song and he would cry when he listen to it. This was in the seventies and to this day I still cry when I hear it. Such a beautiful song. Thank you
Todd was one of the OG geniuses of rock music. He made records like this one, where he wrote the music and lyrics, produced, engineered, and played all of the instruments. Set the stage for Stevie Wonder's "Songs in the Key of Life", etc. So here, you're seeing how great he was at writing great pop ballads, but he could also create blistering rock tunes, brought jazz and classical music elements into rock, and played the F out of electric guitar. There are so many musicians who came after Todd that made big bank on replicating his creations, but most of them will gladly acknowledge where the developed not just their inspiration, but a blueprint for building unique and powerful music.
There is a series called Live at Daryl's house (of Hall and Oates), great musicians, great music! They do a session that is live from Todd's place in Hawaii. It's AWESOME!!
Great song, reactions are priceless. Her face when Todd appeared on screen was dope! Rundgren was a genius. Isleys killed it too. Keep up the good work! Bmore represent!
Bowie went through his theatrical stage, Todd did too, but it doesn’t take away from the brilliance of this song. One of the most romantic songs ever made. Listen to the recorded version, you’ll love it! 😁❤️
I love this song! So much talent! He still sounds great. I agree with the Live From Daryls House suggestion, they sound great together. My favorite of his is Can We Still be Friends.
"...We Gotta Get You A Woman" and "I Saw The Light". I crushed on him big time in High School. I actually met him twice because a school friend of mine was on tour with him. He's very kind and got my joke....
I love the studio version but i really dig the visual of this live performance. The way he changed up his phrasing a little bit and watching him play piano 🔥🔥🔥🎶🎵
There is another version of this Todd did with a fellow by the name of Stewkey doing the lead vocal released 4 years earlier in 1968 that’s much slower and heartfelt.
I didn't know the Isley Brothers covered this one. Todd's got a lifetime of hits and deep cuts, "Can We Still Be Friends?" "I Saw the Light" "Bang the Drum All Day"...so many more.
This is one of my all time favorite songs. I don’t know how to describe what his voice does at certain times during the song, but it changes quickly to a different tone and he reflects so much emotion🖤 into this song. Love Bill Whitaker and Billy Paul too 💙
This song sends chills through me when I hear it. I dig that you guys listen and react to these old sounds, whether it's R&B, Rock...I love it. Keep it up!!!! This song is good.
its about to be 50 years ago this performance happened, and yet, this song is timeless. it always makes me feel some magical feeling I just can't explain
Todd has also produced alot of classic albums for other artists including Grand Funk Railroad, The Band, Badfinger, New York Dolls, XTC just to name a few.
Todd was actually on tv doing an interview last wk he looks gr8, a bit more grey but all in all a Super singer/ songwriter/ musician whose music i luv to this very day, his music is more along the style of the legendary James Taylor Todd is a Storeyteller and quite deservedly inducted into the music hall of fame, awesome selection guys you did it again but this one is very special to me i just luv todd rundgren's music
years ago, I thought this was a Ringo Starr song. Recently, I ran into a Todd Rundgren, Ringo Starr version of this. Apparently it was too Ringo for him not to do it.
lol...those temporary decorative eyebrow tats freaked me out when I first saw them when he did this song on Midnight Special...talented guy...super talented
You should check out Todd and Daryl Hall on Live From Daryl’s House, when they sing Can We Still Be Friends. So so good. Love your guys reactions. Didn’t we boomers grow up in a cool time with amazing music?! Ps. Props to another Philly area talent !
I'm 67 yrs old & love the '70's artists. This song wasn't written for Liv Taylor's mother Bebe Buell or Liv herself. It was about his high school sweetheart that dumped him. He was heartbroken & wrote this song about her but never told her. He did an interview back in the day telling the real story. He ran into the high school sweetheart years later when he was famous & her brushed her off when she tried hitting on him.
Another of my favorites from the 70s. 💞💞💞 I'm old and so easily forget things but I have no recollection of seeing those whatever they are on his shoulders. He was a great performer and multi talented and totally unrelated, gay. .
This song is about a girl he was seeing, her dar saw him with long hair and forbid her from seeing him again. She grew cold,,,,,,,,till he became famous and started calling him again. He said he handled the call like a business call. He has my respect for all he's done
My Goodness you guys would have loved the 70s music dress style entertainment, only thing Was no internet cell phones or computers, at least not the kind we have today.
They just put Todd into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this month. Long overdue. He’s very talented.
Absolutely; now we need to see Three Dog Night, The Guess Who, Steppenwolf and Grand Funk Railroad.
@@zeppelinfan9360 Absolutely to all of them. What the Hell is taking so long!?
Rundgren is a God of rock and roll
It's about time. So many great songs. I just love this performance.
Todd raised Liv Tyler daughter of Steve Tyler (Aerosmith lead singer) as if she were his child. He actually signed her birth certificate, so essentially he was her dad.
Really weird, right?!
@@susanelkins3068 A little weird maybe, but life happens. Apparently Todd and his Lady split up for a minute and she had a moment with Steve, got pregnant and ended up back with Todd. Todd did the right thing and raised the baby as if she were his. That's what a man should do.
But isn’t it true that Todd didn’t know that Liv wasn’t his biological daughter for many years?
Wow, I didn't know that.
@@samhain1894 I don't know. I know her name was Liv Rundgren when she was born and after.
Let us please celebrate; a man who is respectful of boundaries!
This is my favorite song of all time. When I was very young my parents separated for a time and I remember my dad telling this was his favorite song and he would cry when he listen to it. This was in the seventies and to this day I still cry when I hear it. Such a beautiful song. Thank you
This makes me want to cry reading this. This is the first song I told my dad I really liked. I am past 40 years old now. Thank you for sharing!
1972-I remember when this album came out and this was on the radio.
I just literally teared up reading this. Who the F is cutting onions early in the morning? Smh

It's a great live version, but original released studio recording of this is recording art at it's finest. Really a don't miss.
Todd's album "Something, Anything" is a music masterpiece.
Soooooo underrated. Few know the depth and range of this extremely talented musician.
There is a series called Live at Daryl's house (of Hall and Oates), great musicians, great music! They do a session that is live from Todd's place in Hawaii. It's AWESOME!!
This song makes me think of my past, and I cry almost every time I hear it. Spears me in the heart...
It’s one of those songs, that stay in your heart.
Great song, reactions are priceless. Her face when Todd appeared on screen was dope! Rundgren was a genius. Isleys killed it too. Keep up the good work! Bmore represent!
He still is!

So did Peter Gabriel. You are so right.
Finally got to see this very special artist be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!🎶🎵🎹🏆

Todd is a genius, highly recommend his music; "Real Man" and "Just One Victory" might be good listens
Upper Darby Pa.'s own! Great artist and great song. Love the Isley Brother's cover of this song too!

Wow his vocals here were amazing! Wow. A real performer and musician!! 👌🏼

I Saw the Light is another good song from Todd
One of my all time favorite songs😊
I love the studio version but i really dig the visual of this live performance. The way he changed up his phrasing a little bit and watching him play piano 🔥🔥🔥🎶🎵

That Stewkey fellow had some mad singing skills.
One of my favorite artist. Love his music ❤ He was our Lady Gaga of that time with his flashy weird outfits. This is such a great song.
TODD RUNDGREN "I SAW THE LIGHT",, "WE GOTTA GET YOU A WOMAN",, "CAN WE STILL BE FRIENDS",, "A DREAM GOES ON FOREVER" & "BANG ON THE DRUM"
I didn't know the Isley Brothers covered this one. Todd's got a lifetime of hits and deep cuts, "Can We Still Be Friends?" "I Saw the Light" "Bang the Drum All Day"...so many more.
Such great music. I was lucky enough to see him in concert back in the 70s.
This is one of my all time favorite songs. I don’t know how to describe what his voice does at certain times during the song, but it changes quickly to a different tone and he reflects so much emotion🖤 into this song.
Love Bill Whitaker and Billy Paul too 💙

I loved his 2017 commencement speech at Berklee College of Music. It's on RUclips.
Every time I hear this song, I think of the pilot episode of That 70's Show.
Shawn and Mel, look it up and watch it. You will LOVE it
Great song, brings back lots of memories!
Todd has also produced alot of classic albums for other artists including Grand Funk Railroad, The Band, Badfinger, New York Dolls, XTC just to name a few.
Todd Rundgren was also a prolific music producer with a number of albums for other artists in his credits.
Been their many nights With Todds music glaring thru them 70s lonely nights
Awesome reaction. This is one if my all time favorite songs. I love Todd Rundgren.
love his vocal inflections............

Amazing performer. Front man for the Nazz, Utopia and an incredible solo career.
This song is on every playlist I have. I have loved it since it came out in 1972. Another song of his you will want to check out is I Saw The Light.
Todd has quite the range. For a rocker try Bang on The Drum.
I love that! ‘I don’t want to work’…
years ago, I thought this was a Ringo Starr song. Recently, I ran into a Todd Rundgren, Ringo Starr version of this. Apparently it was too Ringo for him not to do it.
Little big town released a cover of this song exclusively for Amazon music

1972 ..wow..........crazy man........I'm gettin' old.....still sounds great !

Aside from the costume, he was a great talent... Great Song...
On my playlist. I agree... live from Daryl's House at Todd's house in Hawaii. Great stuff!
Love you guys! But I’m old enough to remember this song from college. ❤
“Deep” exactly the first reaction!
Omg, I adore The Hermit of Mink Hollow( Mink Hollow is the name of his home studio).
Rundgren had another banger
Bang On The Drum
You 2 are so perceptive, which makes your videos so fun to watch. Other Todd Rundgren: "Can We Still Be Friends?" and "Love Is The Answer."
Love that song
This is for you,Beatrice.Tony

hey guys; he didn't always look so weird, haha. very diverse career as he went from adult contemporary ballads to hard rock.
I Saw the Light was a great one by him , Bang on the Drum is a fun one. We've Got To Get You A Woman is also excellent
I want this song at my funeral
Brilliant !
Talent
Another of my favorites from the 70s. 💞💞💞
I'm old and so easily forget things but I have no recollection of seeing those whatever they are on his shoulders. He was a great performer and multi talented and totally unrelated, gay. .
This came out the year I started high school! 😮 man I’m old
This song is about a girl he was seeing, her dar saw him with long hair and forbid her from seeing him again. She grew cold,,,,,,,,till he became famous and started calling him again. He said he handled the call like a business call.
He has my respect for all he's done
Love his voice!
His work with Utopia is under-appreciated
I am crying .
GREAT choice
Always loved that song. Never saw him before.
You should hear his acapella album. Todd Rundgren is in his own universe.
This was the first and last song "that 70's show".
The Isley brothers also made this song on their live it up album
Todd was the impetus for MTV.
Gotta check out his song I see the light.great uptempo record
Here, representing 40 West, Baltimore, MD
Before there was Lady Gaga, we had Todd Rundgren in the 70's. Flamboyant and very talented.
That’s the year I was born 😂
I like this song a lot a real 70s vibe 😅
Todd would play all of the instruments and song the song as well
Sometimes, you want to be with the one you aren’t with…….It’s wrong, but the heart can’t help what the heart wants…………………
He would later record the song Bang On The Drum All Day
The Isley Brothers did an excellent cover of this song as well
