Thanks so much for this! The first instruction was the most important. I kept looking for latches or seams to open the battery compartment and didn't realize I just needed to remove the whole thing from the wall. This was very useful. Thanks again!

You are correct, David. After contacting the company that installed my thermostat last year, I decided to replace my own battery. Initially, it was a struggle, until going to my computer to view videos on Honeywell devices. It is now a breeze!

yep same I thought I was going to break it because it takes a substantial amount of force, but turns out you do just pull it out

Thank you so much, Todd, for availing this video! A local vendor placed a new Honeywell in my home last year, and within one year's time, the battery is dead. When calling to request a battery replacement today, the office assistant informed me that it would cost $99 to simply come to my house. The cost of the battery (service) would have been separate. You cannot imagine the countless dollars that you are saving consumers by putting this illustrative and valuable information on RUclips for us!

I did this and then my air conditioning stop working but after throwing the circuit breaker, it came right back so you might need to flip the circuit breaker if you pull your thermostat off while your AC is running. Just something I needed to do. So heads up if it doesn’t work just flip the circuit breaker to reset the A/C unit.👍

For me the socket unit was glued to the drywall by the builder. So when gently pulling the socket glue gave before the pins let go... because of course. So I used a flat head screwdriver to gently work the socket piece / wire assembly away from the unit - working all 4 sides. Then I reattached the socket unit to the wall. When this was done I replaced my batteries and plugged the head unit back in.
