    I have EAP, the only useful feature I've found is the lane changing which is really nice unless you're in traffic, then it's a bit too conservative. Aggressive drivers following closely behind cars will prevent you from changing lanes, and the car brakes hard or jerks back into the land if any cars are even moderately close. Self parking hardly ever works, maybe 1/10 times I get the option to use it. My driveway is too steep to use summon on if I want to shift my car, and the app takes forever to start summoning so I've only found one situation where it was marginally helpful. I backed closer to a charger with my hitch bike rack. Smart summon is a gimmick in my opinion, as it's really slow and I don't trust it in a parking lot. Just my two cents!

      Super helpful, I am glad I read your comment. EAP would be highly limited where I live (Greater Toronto Area), our 401 highway is the busiest highway in North America and auto lane changes are going to be ineffective at best, Scary at the worse. Maybe I'll wait another year so two for the upgrade.

    For as many months that Tesla hasn't supplied you with the all the features offered when you first purchased EAP they should add at no cost FSD for those same amount of month's! Why pay for something you never got and have to wait (it's been almost 4 month's now) for them to release all the features you paid for and had to drive your vehicle without them, just saying...

    A person with neck troubles will love the Auto lane change feature(no more looking for blind spots and twisting neck uncomfortably in the process). It is sad that the RADAR and ultrasonic sensors are removed from an already lacking set of virtual sensors(low res cameras with insufficient angle of view). I feel it was done to improve cost margin and to reduce supply chain issues than anything else. We need intelligent sensors not commodity cameras adapted for machine vision, to make FSD a reality.

    Own a 2022 Y LR. The front ultrasonic sensors did not work when I bought the car then worked for a while but once again are not working. They are needed for Park Assist which tells me how close I am to “stuff” at the front of my garage. I have a Service Center appointment to fix the problem. Tesla may not be putting the sensors in new cars but older cars have them and I believe they will still work - or why would they give me an appointment.
    Tesla disappoints concerning those sensors. Most cars have some form of Rear Cross Traffic Monitor which is very helpful when backing out of a space when your vision is blocked by adjacent vehicles BUT Tesla has never had that feature, a significant safety deficiency. Now without the ultrasonic sensors it looks like they will never have the feature. Very disappointing. My wife’s 2017 Honda CRV has the feature. It is about time Tesla took care of that safety need.
    Regarding Autopilot, EAP and FSD, one disadvantage is that they place the car in the center of your lane. When I am on the highway and alongside a big truck I will cheat and go off center in order to be safer. The system does not take that into account, so I rarely use anything other than Traffic Aware Cruise Control.

    • @mywifestesla
      @mywifestesla  Год назад

      Appreciate the comment. If your car has the hardware for the USS, they will continue to work. Last I saw, they seemed to have backed away from their plans of disabling this via the software in the vehicle. My wife has a 2022 M3 LR, and her sensors work just fine. Hopefully they are able to get this fixed for you without too much inconvenience.

The Sonatas highest trim, limited, is much less money and comes with a lot more luxury than the Tesla model 3. It also has adaptive cruise with a full 360 camera and lane keep assist plus Apple CarPlay which I’ve grown to enjoy in my current car.

    Well this is a no brainer for me what I would get. If I purchase a Tesla model Y vehicle in 2024, I would just get the basic Auto Pilot. Why, because I don't drive on the better marked Freeways where EAP functions - I only drive around towns being retired. I don't need the Summons or the Auto Park features since I have never done that kind of parking for a long long time. So spending 6000 dollars on something I would never get use of would be pointless to me.

      Auto lane change can be configured to not require driver intervention. The other features, auto park, summon, and smart summon are all disabled if you don't have the sensors. Agree with you on phantom braking, it's very annoying.

    I’m opting to SUBSCRIBE to FSD for the 3 or 4 long road trips a year. I subscribed on May 22nd and got enrolled in FSD beta. We took a 2K mile road trip and I believe it drove about 50% of the total distance. While it didn’t cause any accidents or get us into trouble there were times it performed like a 15 year-old student driver and other time it was PERFECT. So I’ll continue to “rent” it for $600 to $800/year.

      I hear you. The one feature I find useful is auto lane change when on Autopilot or Navigate on Autopilot. Works well for me when you're not in rush hour traffic. Not saying that justifies the cost, because let's be honest, it doesn't.

    How do you get the more detailed screen? We rented a tesla and it showed much more of the surrounding like vehicles coming the other way, vehicles at the intersection driving perpendicular, more detail of the road etc? Do you have to buy FSD for that or is it a function you have to enable somehow?

    • @mywifestesla

      I think what you may be referring to is a setting in Autopilot that you can enable called FSD Visualization.

    Does it stop and start the car with basic autopilot based on cruise control in traffic?

    • @mywifestesla

      Yes. Adaptive cruise control will bring the vehicle to a stop if the car in front of you comes to a complete stop. Once this other vehicle starts moving again, your Tesla will move.

    Does the auto pilot definitions change for 2017 Model S? I am getting confuse on them now cause some say it is different and some say it is as same as 2019 model

    • @mywifestesla

      I'm not the expert here, but I believe there are some differences. The older Tesla's are running on older camera hardware which I believe is v2.0 and v2.5. Newer Tesla's are running on v3 and Tesla is just starting to roll our v4. Having said all that, my guess is there''s some limitations with the older hardware that could limit some of the functionality. Maybe someone else can chime in that knows better.

    • @astudentpilotlife

      @@mywifestesla yeah, I figured that too. But Tesla seem to chabge their label too much or make it a little confusing unless you can physically see them and drive them to know.

    • @mywifestesla
      @mywifestesla  Год назад

      Well it's there today if you have a M3 with the Ultrasonic Sensors. For those vehicles that have had the USS removed, I feel it's going to be a bit. My guess is another 6 months if we are lucky. I was just pushed a software update last night that had park assist enabled using Tesla Vision. It's better than having nothing, but still has a ways to go. They need to refine this before they start enabling these other features.
