Добавлен 5 июн 2022
Helping to educate new or prospective Tesla buyers. What started out as a channel to highlight my wife's Tesla, a 2022 Long Range Model 3, has quickly become a channel about my 2023 RWD Model 3. Follow along as we cover a variety of topics on our Model 3's.
Tesla Home Charging Speed Comparison | 15 amp vs 50 amp
You bought your first Tesla, now you need to figure out your home charging options. In this video, we'll do a home charging speed comparison between a 15 amp circuit and a 50 amp circuit. Now obviously the 50 amp circuit is going to charge your Tesla Model 3 in less time, but how much faster is it? Maybe the better question is do you need to pay an electrician upwards of $1000 to have a new 50 amp circuit installed, or can you live with the standard 15 amp outlet you already have in your garage?
There are a variety of home charging options for your Tesla. You can go with the standard NEMA 5-15 outlet that most everyone has in their home, or you can upgrade to a NEMA 14-50 outlet. While bo...

Tesla Vision One Year Later | I'm Still Waiting
Просмотров 810Год назад
Here we are, one year later and we are still waiting on a roadmap for Tesla Vision. In Oct 2022, Tesla announced that Tesla Vision would be replacing the functionality found in the Ultrasonic Sensors (USS) that they were removing. At the time of recording this video in Nov 2023, over one year later, there's still no update regarding Tesla Vision. Now don't get me wrong here, I dig my Tesla, and...
Full Self Driving Degraded | Is Autopilot Better?
Просмотров 439Год назад
If you happen to be driving in a heavy rain, you may get a message on your Tesla that Full Self Driving (FSD) may be degraded. What does that even mean? Can you still use FSD, and if so, what is actually degraded? One thing you'll notice is that the max speed is restricted to no more than 60 mph. If you want to go faster, you can't. How does this compare to Tesla's Basic Autopilot in that same ...

Tesla Model 3 Gas Savings | How Much Am I Really Saving?
Просмотров 7 тыс.Год назад
A key selling point of the Tesla Model 3 is the gas savings you'll realize. But how much are you really able to save, and does that savings in gas offset the cost of a new Tesla Model 3? In this video we'll explore the savings I'm seeing in my daily work commute by not having to purchase gas. We'll offset that with the cost I'm paying for electricity to charge my Tesla for my drive to and from ...

Tesla FSD Beta First Drive | Is The Hype Justified?
Просмотров 439Год назад
This is a video of my first drive using FSD Beta in my Tesla Model 3. There were a few issues. First off, I couldn't get to Taco Bell. Second, it stopped in the middle of the road at a railroad crossing for a train that didn't exist. FSD Beta Fails? Perhaps. Now I've been using Enhanced Autopilot for about 9 months, and thought it would be interesting to see what all the fuss was about with FSD...
Tesla Supercharger Cost | How Much Are You Really Saving?
Просмотров 31 тыс.Год назад
If you look at the cost of using a Tesla Supercharger, are you really saving that much money over the cost of gas for a traditional ICE vehicle? Now there's no doubt the cost of electric is cheaper than the cost of gas. If you happen to charge at home, it's significantly cheaper. Now what if you leverage the Tesla Supercharger network for the bulk of your charging? How much are you really savin...

90 Day Review Of Our 2022 Tesla Model 3 Long Range Trim | Dope or Nope
90 days in with my 2023 Tesla model 3 RWD. I feel like a kid with a new toy again. Love this car
Thank you for the great content! I'm considering buying a used 2023 Tesla Model 3 RWD, which is $20K cheaper than a new one and has low mileage. Do you think it's a good idea to go for it? Also, how does the RWD perform in snowy conditions? Would love to hear your thoughts!
I haven’t had any problems with my RWD in the snow, and I drive a lot.
I just got a used 2023 model 3 RWD. 25k miles on it. 90 days in. No issues. As long as you can charge at home/apartment you should be fine.
Not to mention one stop for gas vs 5 charging stops that take far longer per stop lol
Yep. Completely agree.
Also don’t forget time…you said it took 20-30 minutes for 5 stops. That’s about 2.5 hours of wasted time and only to save $20 on electric.
💯 percent agree.
At 1:08 I see that all four are the same, so they turn "the wrong way" on one side of the car (same as uberturbine). Or do they provide 2+2?
Insurance is wayyyyyy more expensive for Teslas because very few shops are authorized to work on them if an accident happens
$5.20? What are you talking about? We haven't seen prices so low in the northern tip of Alaska in years. Gas is $10 per gallon at least. And I'm sure that my price is relevant in all 50 states cause I'm a moron too
Why not just get a comma3 ADAS? It does the same thing as basic Autopilot but does not shut off when you pass someone on the highway and in "experimental mode" (which has been around for 5 years now and is very safe) your car will stop at traffic lights and stop signs. I've had my comma3 since 2021 and amazed that it's still the best and most reliable ADAS on the market! It does work best on Kias and pre-2023 Toyotas.
I just got our first Model Y. We sold our CRv Touring. The CRv had cruise control, lane control and auto distance control. It worked extremely well. I drove most of yesterday -Toronto to Detroit and back. I find the basic autopilot to be too sensitive. It would change lanes well when I put on the blinker. However, you are reminded to steer gently so you stay safe but it is overly sensitive and the autopilot would kick out with only a minor manual adjustment. When it kicks out, the car jerks. This is disconcerting. It is either because the car starts to ‘brake’ instantly prior to getting your foot on the gas or it just jerks for some other reason. I love most everything else but Honda wins for the ease of using the auto-features.
I’ve had the same observations. Had to rent a vehicle while traveling recently, it was a Toyota with their adaptive cruise control system. It was far better than what Basic Autopilot is in the Tesla.
Across various EVs, there is about a 10:1 ratio of kWh to gallons of 87Regular. If you're not home charging (or for free at work/retail/etc) A conventional hybrid will cost the same of feed.
Agree. I would never own an EV if I couldn’t charge at home.
Umm.... That IS a Considerable Amount of Money Saved! Especially if you do Frequent Road Trips!
Turbine covers it's harder to remove it I had on my 2024 Tesla 3 and my efficiency dropped vs OEM one but looks nicer I end up putting OEM back because easier to remove
Once the cost of gas goes back to normal.. owning an electric car will be saving you a lot less… the couple of things I do not like about Tesla is the fact that their cars are built very poorly.. as well as very high repair costs since you can’t order any parts from 3rd party sources..
Save a lot less but it’s still saving me money, especially with my commute. Haven’t experienced any poor build quality issues with my 3 year old Model 3 (knock on wood).
Does basic autopilot brake for you and come to a stop when you are in bumper to bumper traffic?
It does. It’s basically adaptive cruise control.
Imagine if you had a hybrid and you were getting 50 mpg. Wow. Calculate that.
You had to charge 5 times in a 700 mile trip? Dang
I know right. I did that same trip again recently and opted to rent a car because I was in a hurry. It was going to add almost 2 hours to the trip with charging stops.
Option 5 - Press end of lever for single wipe, and then use left scroll wheel up and down to change wiper speed options.
Great info, thank you!
Time is money also.
100% agree!
I'm in Boise, Idaho. Tesla service just estimated my model3 front windshield @ 1410.76. its the exact same as the model Y but nearly 50% more expensive where I live apparently. I'll use Safelite before tesla now and remove my 5star local tesla review.
That’s crazy.
Thanks
Abernathy Street
55 dollars for a 700 mile trip that is nothing
Damn my car get 16 mpg im happy im getting a model y
Makes sense when you consider the cost of the infrastructure. When you charge at home, your infrastructure is already covered by your house payment, so all you are adding is the extra KWh you use to charge your car. You would likewise save a bundle if you had a fuel tank buried next to your driveway that could store a year's worth of gas. The supply truck would only need to make one annual visit to you and you'd be set because you already pay for and maintain your home. But ICE drivers don't have things set up that way, so gas prices include the cost of maintaining each station that sells it. To have a place just waiting for you to eventually drive up, which you usually will not have to thanks to your home charger, costs money. This is why eventually when most vehicles are electric a lot of fueling stations will no longer be able to have gasoline and diesel selling as the backbone of their business, and many will close, just like the saddlery and blacksmiths of old. Other's, which have been using gas as a draw, but make most of their money through food sales and dining, as well as truck stop services, will more than likely be able to continue through the offering charging services, but only as a secondary draw since many folks will charge at home. I could see special rates for apartment dwellers in the form of a subscription, since many apartments won't be able to add enough chargers. It's going to be an interesting next few years.
don’t buy tesla people. i just buy a 2024 tesla model y $55k . theirs customers service is horrible and i means horrible. i pay $6000 for enhanced auto pilot. but they didn’t have the smart summons and auto park. they keep me in the dark when i order the car . now they refuse to reimburse me the service they didn’t had to sell in the first place. do not buy tesla… i should have enjoyed my new car . but not at all.
Took a trip to from Orlando to NYC in my Kia Niro Hybrid. 2200 miles round trip and I spent around $130 ROUND TRIP. My Kia Niro gets about 530 miles per full tank. I didn't have to sit there or half an hour or more every time I fueled up either. Why the hell would I buy an electric car?
Another Tesla using vision just bumped into me backing up.. your vision is not accurate....😂
Thanks, now the air wont blow in my face 👍👍
Really? You are so clueless that you couldn't find the controls for the air vents? Luddite!
Thanks for this video! Very detailed and answered a lot of questions I had!
Glad it helped.
Clear and to the point. Thanks!
Just buy a Prius and use regular gas it’s about more or less the price of electricity with it’s 55+ mpg and you get the reliability of a Toyota and well put together car… also a lot cheaper about 33k for a brand new one, then you’ll have an extra 11k for gas left compared to buying a brand new tesla…
Very valid point, although the only thing that the Toyota will always lack is the luxury features and the novelties that come with tesla ownership. Despite that I do agree
@@KaelinTatenot true, Prius XSE premium highest level trim offers most if not all of Teslas luxury options but of course excluding Tesla self driving option which will cost you another $8,000… and not to mention the 2025 Prius LE starts at $28,000… the XSE is about $39,000 which is still cheaper than the $42,500 base model 3, add self driving you’re looking at 50k+
I'm stating the obvious here but I want to be clear, using superchargers on road trips is cheaper than fuel for your car but most people are not taking big road trips all the time and they will mainly charge at home where they will get SUPER CHEAP rates. I can fill up my Tesla for $8-$10 (300 miles) compared to $60+ in fuel. In addition, most cars on the road will be electric within a decade and these charging rates will go down...way down.
My Ram 1500 gets 14 mpg. Figure real world data for the gas cost estimate.
Good comparison when a person can truly afford a 50K type car. Unfortunately I do think those who want to justify the premium car will use the analysis say now it makes sense to spurge.
Its crazy that in the four short months since you commented this, the car market (especially for Tesla's) has changed drastically. You can now get into a model similar to the creator's for around 25k
@@KaelinTateI’m not sure what you mean. About 27k for a 2021 or 22 long range model 3 right now depending on miles and condition of course. Been about that for about a year so now.
Thats excellent now as we continue to scale over a longer period time. If we keep this scale consistent Every 700 miles you save “$20”. If we say you do 15000 miles a year 15000 miles / 700 miles = 21.42 21.42 x $20 = $428 in gas savings Yeah not that big a difference lol
Thank you😉
The trip meter kWh/mi figure only shows the kWh used to move the wheels. It does not include the charging losses from “charger” to battery (10% in my case). My Juicebox shows the number of kWh actually pulled from the grid (I don’t know if the Tesla wall charger shows this). Also, look at your Tesla phone app under Charger Stats and you can see the number of KWh that actually filled your battery. This value (for me) is again about 10% greater than the trip meter value, because Tesla ignores kWh used for other purposes (battery temperature control and cabin heating and cooling, etc. displayed in their trip meter screen. All in all, the trip meter kWh is about 20% less than I pull from the grid. I pay at least $0.25/kwh in Connecticut (electricity is generated by natural gas and 35% from renewable) and my previous car used regular gas. So our savings calculations are at opposite sides of the spectrum. Thanks.
That’s good to know for estimate purposes. I’m not surprised a EV company would want to focus the number on just the movement. Makes them look better on paper.
Love this review!! Thank you ❤
how many miles is 6%? I lose about 3-4 miles per day (24 hours). no sentry or cabin heat protection
Yeah, the ICE metrics are pretty rosy IMO. I’m in the 20-23 MPG range and 91+ octane required by my Ice has me over $150 for gas on that same trip. Take my wife’s QX 80 and it’s even worse.
Some cars do get 30mpg. 2024 Toyota Prius get 57 city and 56 highway miles per gallon.
20 dollars saved per trip let's say 1 week x 52 weeks a year so that is 1040 dollars. And even if you save 20 dollars every 2 weeks that's 520 dollars. In 2 years you get that Samsung Galaxy you was wanted so it all adds up.
Without FSD there's no reason to even buy a Tesla
Lmao I went to North Carolina with a 2021 Toyota Camry and I wasted over $160 in gas so to pay $54.97 I rather take the Tesla
The only thing about the rwd drive is that it’s so much slower than the LR and performance
Why 20%? Seems artificially high. Wouldn't 10% be more than adequate?
$20 more but two hours more vacation time.
So when you did this road trip, you stopped every 150 miles to charge? Cause you said we charged 5 times during the trip? Very good video with good advice! :) cheers from the Netherlands!
Great video. Handsome little spokesdude. My son and i are renting a Tesla Y in Las Vegas this week. Thanks for the instructions!
