Whew...as a fellow 35 year old who has experienced discrimination (racial/gender identity/sexual orientation-related) , the threat of homelessness (years ago) , family drama and other societal issues, these 5 particular episodes are quite the adventure to sift through! Ahhh, the aspect of being a Golden Girls fan! 😮👍✊🏾
First of all, that you have had to endure those forms of discrimination-any for that matter- I am sorry to hear. That is exhausting and unfair.
Also, I didn't realize until after the episodes and filming when I was putting the edit together like the journey those 5 together really do form!
Aw....I feel you there (although you're a wee babe of 35, and I'm 46). I got laid off my job in May, and I can't even find a part-time job. My last job was crappy, as I also faced overt racial and sexual discrimination discrimination daily. But at least I had a job. It's been a year since you posted this comment. I really hope you're doing well and that you're happy.
You folks did such a great job! The Golden Girls certainly hit issues that are related today!

Melissa is staying with them, but in normal circumstances when Blanche needs her own space, Sophia gives up her room and sleeps in Dorothy's room. Melissa was either sleeping in Sophia's room with her, or Sophia was moved to Dorothy's room and Melissa had Sophia's room to herself. An alternative, Melissa could have been sleeping in Rose's room while the gentleman caller was over since Rose is more inclined to take in kiddos and puppies.
For the fact that girl is over, she is rarely seen. Also of your granddaughter is over should she be going out for the nights and bringing back men? Why isn't she with Melissa.
@@StayGoldenGirls That was a little hard to follow grammatically, but I think I got the point you are getting at. The whole thing is that Blanche is a promiscuous woman, and she's more inclined to follow her habits of chasing men as apposed to spending time with her granddaughter. Blanche knows her own proclivities towards entertaining men, so she would ask the girls to situate themselves to allow for her privacy. A lot of Blanche's storyline is about teaching people how to balance personal sexuality with how it relates to familial relationships.
Honestly, there's a good possibility that Melissa spent most of her time with Sophia and Rose. They could have made a whole other episode where Sophia used Melissa for a cash grab scheme and more stories from Rose of St. Olaf to create a narrative that teaches a lesson.
What? Someone asked you what 3 people you wanted to have dinner with and you didn’t say Blanche, Rose and Dorthory?

Living in LA, sometimes i just need to clear my mind. These videos help, and sometimes you'll catch me driving to the house they filmed the outside of when the show starts!

Perhaps. That means if Dorothy heard it, then Melissa def heard it too. Also yeah was the nurse like sleeping in a chair next to Sophia the whole time? So many questions about space in that house.

This show came out when I was about 9 or so and I remember watching the episode about impotence and had no clue what it was and I was raised before the internet and google. I asked my mom and she was like....

I had just turned nine when this show debuted. I remember watching it with my grandparents on Saturday nights. I missed a lot of the jokes, of course, but I didn't dare ask them to explain. I started watching the show again in my thirties. The older I get, the more I identify with the girls. Even with the dated reference, this show is timeless, and my favorite of all time. I'd give anything to be nine again.
It's so funny that Rose said people put too much emphasis on sex and before she finished dinner she screamed, "Check please" to rush home and have sex with Ernie.

This episode started to make me sad around the time I turned 40. I'm 46 now, and I know menopause is gonna come knocking on my door any day now. I wish I could be pragmatic about it like Dorothy. I'll probably handle it more like Blanche, minus the overeating stint. I know that 50 is far from old these days, and sexual attractiveness is most definitely not reserved for women born after 1987. It's still a pretty stressful thing to go through. I have been binge watching these videos all night. I'm so glad I found it. You are wonderful. I feel like an old friend is talking to me. All my close women friends live far away, and I miss talking to my girls.

3:40.... im 33 and have yet to learn how to shave without slicing the holy fck out of myself lol my legs look like they've gone thru a shredder. I blame it on the fact that im 6'0 and have 4 ft of leg to shave but its most definitely my impatience and lack of razor upkeep 🤣 i just bought and used a new razor for the first time in like 6 yrs.. i use them forever☺

Well razors are one of those objects I feel like when shopping I say, do I want to buy this? No. And they make you buy a minimum of 3! Also that is a lot of leg to shave you are right. Like by foot 2 it's like am I done yet?!?

15 minutes later it ends with him offering me a peppermint.
Not to mention he smelt of cigar smoke and rum.
